vendors also sometimes offer a "training" computer application
Sep 28, 2017 12:49
they're often pretty close to the real thing
Sep 28, 2017 12:49
@Jamiec You'll find some in various flight sims
Sep 11, 2017 19:34
I'm neither in houston nor in florida, so on the grand scheme of things I guess I can't complain :P
Sep 10, 2017 18:51
ah, ok
Sep 10, 2017 17:36
@Federico FCO?
Sep 9, 2017 17:37
shouldn't, but either way - that should be the distance to the threshold I believe, rather than the touchdown point?
Sep 9, 2017 10:11
@TomMcW the ILS 36C puts GINIE at 5NM from the threshold, which would leave you at 1993ft thus well within rounding errors. I wonder why they're shown as different distances.
Sep 9, 2017 10:01
still, that puts it at 1961ft, not 2000.
Sep 9, 2017 09:58
(and if anyone's wondering, that's the memphis RNAV 36C)
Sep 9, 2017 09:57
@TomMcW The touchdown zone is not at the threshold, the tch is 60 ft, so you need to add another 60 ft.
Sep 7, 2017 21:09
Thanks, I'll give those a try - says it can't read them, I'll have to have a look tomorrow. The first one works though, I'll play around with that one a bit
Sep 7, 2017 20:58
That one wouldn't load for some reason. But I'll try the first one, thanks a bunch.
Sep 7, 2017 20:55
@TomMcW that's a kml file, I'll give it a try, thanks
Sep 7, 2017 19:23
Does anyone happen to have a gpx or kml file of a flight? Doesn't matter where, I need one for testing a little tool I'm writing.

Got my turbocharger and retractable gear endorsement yesterday in a pa28rt-201. That elevator though, first take off I struggled to get it off the ground it needed so much force (yes it was trimmed correctly).
Aug 29, 2017 14:32
@TannerSwett I hear it used regularly - that is, using both numbers - when listening to KFMY tower (they have a 13/31, but usually one of 5/23 is in use).
Aug 5, 2017 21:20
@ymb1 As for what you should vote, that's up entirely up to you. Vote your own conscience, no one tells you how to vote (at least they shouldn't) - that's what makes a site community driven.
Aug 5, 2017 21:15
In this particular case I don't think it's good question though, since a quick google will give you all that information (and that particular question is unlikely to end up high on google which would make a case for answering it anyway - to provide better/more succinct information in a google search), but that shouldn't be confused with being a duplicate.
Aug 5, 2017 21:09
(Note the 's' in 'answers').
Aug 5, 2017 21:06
@ymb1 My opinion is that if the answer to a question can be found in a different answer - but that question didn't actually ask for it - chances are the "answer" is peripheral in nature (with respect to that other question) and it'd be better of to get its own answers. The key for me is the ability to provide more information to a question. That's not how it works on Aviation.SE, but I don't have the energy to fight it.
Aug 5, 2017 18:13
Ah yes the old "the other question has an answer that I decide answers this question sufficiently and can thus this one can be closed, even though the other question didn't ask about it, and this question could generate better answer and we don't want that"-duplicate. ;)
Jul 11, 2017 20:21
foreflight is perhaps the most well known
Jul 11, 2017 20:21
@NoahKrasser There are several on the market already
Jun 25, 2017 19:58
what's up with you?
Jun 25, 2017 19:58
nothin' :P
Jun 25, 2017 19:42
hey
Jun 25, 2017 19:37
Ok, this is actually pretty funny: bbc.com/sport/taekwondo/40391326
Jun 21, 2017 15:13
@TomMcW yes, the up down part yes, but it grabs air from the top and shows it into the wind at the bottom creating higher pressure... I'm sure my reasoning is flawed though :)
Jun 21, 2017 15:05
@TomMcW Maybe. I always envisioned it like the rotating object "took" air from the top and pushed it into the air at the bottom (increasing the pressure there, pushing it up) - in the case of a fastball that is obviously.. ;)
Jun 21, 2017 14:53
@TomMcW Bernoulli? I thought the magnus effect was the primary effect when you have a rotating objects
Jun 19, 2017 18:37
@Pondlife In my contracts there's a caveat that I'll only get reimbursed up to some maximum amount / gallon when renting wet (a reference value tied to the cost of fuel at the local field + some percentage). Don't know if you have any of that, figured it might be worth mentioning.
Jun 19, 2017 14:46
@Raj try the .65?
Jun 11, 2017 18:29
How the **** is a question about asian flight routes marked as duplicate of a question about transatlantic flight routes? :P

Q: Why flights route is so different?

VitaliiLet's take a look to itinerary of a flight from Dubai to Tokyo taken here And from Tokyo to Dubai It's the same airline. One more example. Here is the route of flight from Istanbul to Tokyo And from Tokyo to Istanbul Can somebody explain why return route is so different flying from Ea...

Appears another one has gone down in Lukla
May 26, 2017 15:36
that too I guess
May 26, 2017 15:16
@Federico it's fascinating how biased a mind can be. Once I saw the picture of the roughed up antonov I was like "yep, that's an antonov", but it didn't click when it was all shiny and maintained. :P

A: Identify plane with "inverted" wings?

FedericoIf I am not horribly mistaken, it seems to be an Antonov 72 or 74, that were produced together, hence the similarity. Another image (not included for copyright reasons) can be found here. The wikipedia article classifies it as a "transport aircraft". It mentions a VIP transport variant and a ma...

May 19, 2017 22:45
@Shalvenay ;) ... and now I'm off to bed, good night! :)
May 19, 2017 22:39
@Shalvenay Dude, I'm just turning on my computer and the browser refreshes the tabs, I'm not actually here.. ;)
May 14, 2017 08:58
@PhiNotPi Indeed, including the squatters
May 13, 2017 21:28
@Shalvenay Yeah, that bolt was behind a sealed access panel anyway though. Just a general remark, I always check all accessible cotter pins on my walk-arounds. I know people who don't. :P
May 13, 2017 18:19
check those cotter pins on your walk-arounds people :P
May 13, 2017 18:14
interesting read
