Jan 5, 2022 20:54
Have nice day
Jan 5, 2022 20:52
white flag
Jan 5, 2022 20:52
:)
Jan 5, 2022 20:51
but not to away from your current resolution
Jan 5, 2022 20:50
btw, try
cvt 4096 1152 60
Jan 5, 2022 20:50
seem so, I expect only external adapters support such high resolution close to 8K
Jan 5, 2022 20:45
The error means the Xserver/driver refused it
Jan 5, 2022 20:41

cvt 4096 1152 24
Jan 5, 2022 20:40
then go with
Jan 5, 2022 20:40
error from cvt ?
Jan 5, 2022 20:38
We see if 24Hz pass
Jan 5, 2022 20:38
Ah ok

High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a proprietary audio/video interface for transmitting uncompressed video data and compressed or uncompressed digital audio data from an HDMI-compliant source device, such as a display controller, to a compatible computer monitor, video projector, digital television, or digital audio device. HDMI is a digital replacement for analog video standards. HDMI implements the EIA/CEA-861 standards, which define video formats and waveforms, transport of compressed and uncompressed LPCM audio, auxiliary data, and implementations of the VESA EDID.: p. III  CEA...

micro HDMI is almost similar to micro usb from outside

DisplayPort (DP) is a digital display interface developed by a consortium of PC and chip manufacturers and standardized by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). The interface is primarily used to connect a video source to a display device such as a computer monitor, and it can also carry audio, USB, and other forms of data.DisplayPort was designed to replace VGA, FPD-Link, and Digital Visual Interface (DVI). The interface is backward compatible with other interfaces, such as HDMI and DVI, through the use of either active or passive adapters. DisplayPort is the first display interface...
Jan 5, 2022 20:35
is 2nd
Jan 5, 2022 20:35
that DP
Jan 5, 2022 20:34
Jan 5, 2022 20:33
?
Jan 5, 2022 20:33
USB (sure not micro HDMI)
Jan 5, 2022 20:31
and port in monitor ? by the way you can't user dual monitor with highest resolution
Jan 5, 2022 20:31
The you have DP cable ?
Jan 5, 2022 20:29
cvt -r 4096 1152 24
Jan 5, 2022 20:28
yes
Jan 5, 2022 20:27
This has same ratio as 5120x1440 of the screen
Jan 5, 2022 20:27
Try 4096x1152@24Hz
Jan 5, 2022 20:25
even if you try that resolution with very low rate of 24Hz , probably screen will gives message about unsupported rate
Jan 5, 2022 20:24
yeah
Jan 5, 2022 20:23
Max Resolution (DP)‡ 4096 x 2304@60Hz
Jan 5, 2022 20:22
DP just add rate not resolution
Jan 5, 2022 20:22
Even if the size 5120x1440 pass rate will not just 24 vs 240Hz
Jan 5, 2022 20:20
CPU/GPU spec mentions limit of HDMI : Max Resolution (HDMI)‡ 4096 x 2304@24Hz
Jan 5, 2022 20:20
right ? @user1130176
Jan 5, 2022 20:20
So the new monitor is connected to HDMI
Jan 5, 2022 20:18
You welcome
Jan 5, 2022 20:04
@user1130176 It seems that GPU is limited
Jan 5, 2022 20:03
2nd command any success? for EDID data from monitor
Jan 5, 2022 20:03
You have integrated GPU, could you check you CPU model sudo lshw -C cpu , also my previous command didn't bring info of monitor see with: ls /sys/class/drm/*/edid | xargs -i{} sh -c "echo {}; parse-edid < {}"
Jan 5, 2022 20:03
Could you share output of: sudo sh -c "lsb_release -sd; dmidecode -s system-product-name; echo ==; lshw -c display; echo ==; xrandr --verbose; echo ==; cat /etx/X11/xorg.conf" in addition to output from this answer: askubuntu.com/a/371269/26246

Could you verify again that wine still fails to install: sudo apt install wine
Sep 24, 2021 15:57
@Andyc they are good too, have you run sudo apt update Lately or after changing settings?
Sep 24, 2021 15:57
@Andyc, Honestly info we check does not agree with the initial debugging output here: paste.ubuntu.com/p/4FpbjMqsRX
Sep 24, 2021 15:57
@Andyc yes it is good, could verify architecture setup: dpkg --print-architecture; dpkg --print-foreign-architectures
Sep 24, 2021 15:57
@Andyc The Ubuntu update repository is disabled while many package were installed from there. You need to re-enable it from "software properties" tool, update lists then try installing wine again, if not successful, upload new output of same commands. The issue here is in multi-arch systems application need same version of a package from both architectures i386/amd64 (32bit/64bit). As update repository is disabled you have some packages install with high version from update repository while their other architecture which not installed yet is at lower version from main repository.
Sep 24, 2021 15:57
@Andyc take for example libc6 from the output shared previously paste.ubuntu.com/p/9TghTXxfpW . you have version 2.31-0ubuntu9.2 installed but no active repository for that version , well from Ubuntu packages search page packages.ubuntu.com/search?searchon=names&keywords=libc6 it is located in focal-update (main) channel. I think you have update active but not for all channels (main, universe, multiverse...). Would you share your current sources.list (may be it was edited manually, and software properties could guess it wrong)
Sep 24, 2021 15:57
@Andyc also myself I am trapped in a region with limited cell and internet coverage for work.
