After rebooting, I noticed so many problems with the way Ubuntu looked:
Mouse pointer very large, blurry
Applications don't have a global menu bar
Font is all weird... is it open sans instead of Ubuntu?
Right click context menu has little coloured icons in it
Most applications look like Windows...
The answer to this is to fix the gtk2 theme to do that:
Click activities
Type in appearance
Click the first result
and in the themes select Ambiance instead of Adwance
Now this should be fixed
Turns out gksu is no longer installed by default. Some things still depend on it so it might be installed on your system - but on a clean install, it seems it's no longer required. As for why, see: Why is gksu no longer installed by default in Raring 13.04?

No - make a standard comment to the question or answer. By all means flag "low quality" as well. By adding a comment, it should help the OP improve their posting. But if they dont, we (mods) can always cleanup.
"low quality" flag is particularly meaningless - because it could be poor for a whole host of reasons
nice ... I'm lucky in that this is a new provider with no-one else around me signed up to them. Everyone else is signed to two other fibre providers - thus they are getting contention.
