@fbueckert You should add a feed to this room for the tag.

4 hours later…
16:03
I really wish there are more equipment sets. I like to have it so each page is dedicated to a weapon, but I can't really do that with only 3 pages.
As in a weapon type (SNS, hammer, et cetera)
16:31
I hate ludroths.
"what's thaT? Trying to fight a boss? LOL DON'T MIND ME! JUST GONNA ATTACK YOU AND GET IN THE WAY LLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLOLLLLLLLLLLL YOLO"

1 hour later…
18:01
@Wipqozn How do I do that?
@fbueckert I'm not 100% sure. There is a feeds option, but not sure if you need to set-up a separate bot for that to work.
fbueckert has made a change to the feeds posted into this room
@Wipqozn I'll see if I can poke Bridge's feeds, see how they're set up.
@fbueckert Up for hunting a Peco?
I need some carves from him.
@Wipqozn Eating breakfast right now.
In a little bit, sure.
18:08
@fbueckert Okay.
@Wipqozn I create weaponsets specific to monsters. "These two are string against fire, and have a water element. Perfect for Peco."
18:27
fbueckert has made a change to the feeds posted into this room
Ok, I think I've got it.
I hope.

Q: What does the hunting horn melody Sonic Waves do?

WipqoznMost of the hammer melodies I've come across thus far have been fairly self-explanatory, but I'm not really sure what the melody Sonic Waves does. What does the hunting horn melody Sonic Waves do?

Q: Is there any way to add or remove UI elements completely?

fbueckertWith the release of the new Monster Hunter on Wii U, they've added in the ability to customize the gamepad with specific UI items, such as your health and stamina bars, the map, etc. Doing so automatically removes them from the UI on the TV. In fact, the default layout removes every bit of UI f...

IT looks like it's working.
Well that explains that.
I've been confused why it seemed like the songs a hunting horn could produce were random.
Turns out my colour blindness is just making me see a few of the colours as the same colour of note. Luckily I can see the correct colourings in the book.
Yeah, I can see the difference if I get really close to my tv screen. Albeit barely.
for one of them, that is.
18:52
@Wipqozn Ouch.
I'm all set.
Same as last time?
@fbueckert I might be all set. One moment.
Okay, I'm read @fbueckert.
Room made?
Nope. I'll make it, though. Just a moment good sir.
Free Play 3 > Lobby 1 > Arqade / fran
room not made yet though
just entering the info now
We should make that a sticky; World X, Lobby Y, Game name Z, password A.
Room made.
19:23
Peer pressure works.
@StrixVaria :D
Did you buy one?
Excellent.
Best Buy and Target both didn't have MH3U, so I had to get it at GameStop :(
@fbueckert and I are playing right now.
19:25
I got the 8G Wii U because I have SD cards to use anyway.
@StrixVaria #firstworldproblems
The Wii is still updating right now, though.
20:06
@fbueckert Good hunting.
Indeed.
Let us know what your Nintendo Network ID is, @StrixVaria
@fbueckert I bet it will be @StrixVaria.
Any idea what weapon you'll try first, @StrixVaria? Or have you not really looked into them yet?

1 hour later…
21:40
@fbueckert It's StrixVariaXIX
StrixVaria was taken -.-
Also, how in the world do I save?
It is warning me when I try to quit "Make sure you save first!"
But I don't see a save option anywhere.
@StrixVaria You can save after every mission, or just go to bed in your house.
Yeah I found the bed.
Then I went to quit and it asked me to save first.
So far I have no idea what I'm doing.
@Wipqozn It looks like I have to buy weapons, so I'm going to pick one completely at random based on how I feel at the time that I buy it.
@StrixVaria You start off with one of every weapon. You need to go o your room.
@Wipqozn Like I said, I have no idea what I'm doing.
Where in my room can I find them?
@StrixVaria When you quit it should prompt you to save.
@StrixVaria There's a box in the corner, next to your bed.
21:53
Ok, I think I put a bunch of stuff in it.
Stuff I have no idea what purpose it serves yet.
There was like a box and a "gunner" storage.
I have no idea what that is.
Ah, fuck. I fainted.
I forgot that Lagi gets a lot harder on his first non-urgent mission.
I expected to die against the first Jaggis when you're still doing tutorial stuff.
They were pretty stupid, though.
@StrixVaria The tutorial stuff lasts about an hour. By the end of it you should have a good feel of the controls, and then you'll fight a Great Jaggi.
@Wipqozn Wonderful.
Although Great JAggi is a tutorial too in a way.
The first hour or so of the game is just to help you get used to it, including the first boss.
22:01
That makes sense.
I'm going to go back to it in a little bit. Just letting the controller finish charging.
Fainted it agian. Fuck. I don't think I'm going to win this one.
If he'd just leave the damn water I'm sure I could finish him off. Drop a few traps, go wild.
Is that the main one they kept telling me was causing the earthquakes or something?
Jumping into the water to fight monsters sounds like a terrible idea.
YYYYYYYESSS
I GOT HIM
TAKE THA
He went out of the water when I had 10 minutes left, and on my last life.
MAnaged to get him weak enough to capture him.
@StrixVaria Yes.
@StrixVaria That's because it is.
It does vary, but the way it goes with most underwater monsters is that in water they've got the advantage, but above ground the hunter has the advantage.
Some Monsters, like Lagi, are brutal under water. Above water he's a lot easier. As you can imagine, though, he prefers to stay in the wter.
haha, oh guild girl. You're awesome.
HEr advice "Don't let it crush you"
Thanks a lot. I was just going to let it crush me without that.
It's moments like that make me really love this game, though. You're on the brink of death, completely convinced you've lost... and you manage to pull through to victory.
Feels great.
22:26
To be fair, I would try getting crushed to see if it's viable at least once.
Duramboros is weak to all the elements. That silly goose.
Fire and Thunder especially.
I think I'll go with the Switch Axe.
yaaaaay, the third cat returned.
What weapon hits the hardest?
@StrixVaria Greatsword hits the hardest, but is also the slowest weapon.
I figured the hardest-hitting would also be the slowest.
The hammer also hits really hard, and I personally find is easier to use than the great sword, due to being faster.
22:38
Hammers sound more badass than swords, too.
@StrixVaria The downside to hammers is you can't cut off tails. They make up for that by dealing something called "Exhaust" damage. If you hit a monster in the head enough times with it, they'll be knocked out for a short time (giving you free hits). Hit them anywhere else and they lose stamina, which will result in them being less effective in combat (and sometimes standing there exhausted for a short while).
That sounds pretty useful.
Oh, so the max stamina goes down over time or whatever.
It looks like it has a minimum equal to your health bar, though.
I imagine stamina will be more of a big deal later on
@StrixVaria It can get really, really low. You need to refill it using steaks.
I burnt my first steak and the second one was rare.
@StrixVaria Yes. Running, dodging, and blocking all consume stamina.
22:41
It must have something to do with me never eating steak in real life.
@StrixVaria There's also a well-done steak, which is the best kind. However the timing can be tricky to get. It only has about a 1-second window before it becomes burnt.
Every quest will give you rations, though. Which is enough to boost you to max stamina right away.
That's useful.
I don't even think I've technically done a quest yet.
I got 30...resources?...that I brought back to down.
I don't think so.
Let me go try to finish this tutorial thing.
Also, don't sell anything. Just store it in your stash.
23:27
Duramboras is a toughie. He didn't seem that bad at first, and the next thing I knew I died once and was out of potions.
Managed to beat him with 1/4 health bar and 8 minutes left.
23:48
@StrixVaria I'm Wipqozn113
@fbueckert How goes hunting?
@Wipqozn I wasn't selling anything that says it's a crafting material.
Everything has a use?
Even Dung?
Also the tutorial is significantly longer than an hour.
I've done 2 quests after a bunch of introductory hunting and still no sign of being able to fight a "great jaggi".
@StrixVaria You use it in your farm.
@Wipqozn Oh that makes sense.
I didn't try out farming yet because I didn't have much in the way of resources when it opened up that option.
