@StrixVaria I don't really have one at the moment. I'm just trying to figure out if the convenience of not having to find/buy a case outweighs the difficulties of trying to fit new guts in a stock case.

@fbueckert It's my frooble and I need to demoblify it now!

@Fluttershy Nah that's easy. Unless it's some crazy proprietary form factor.

@badp Yup, basically.

@OrigamiRobot So it could potentially be worth it if I could, say, save ~$50 on the case, and put that money toward a better video card/RAM?

Sure
What is your budget here?

9:02 PM
Man, the horror stories I could (and some, I have) tell about that place. Good riddance, for sure.
Without my current boss at the time, I would've said done after eight hours, and refused to go in at all if they called after that.

@StrixVaria I don't really have one at the moment. I'm just trying to figure out if the convenience of not having to find/buy a case outweighs the difficulties of trying to fit new guts in a stock case.

@Fluttershy How big is the case? Standard height?

@Fluttershy Prebuilt cases are Great Satan
Especially these miniATX monsters
Or the ATX crammed into a mini form factor things

Your best option is to build a giant case out of plywood and just screw everything down inside it. ;)

@fbueckert Yes.

9:07 PM
(Actually, I had co-worker do that, so he could pump outside winter air through the "case", allowing for massive overclocking of the processor.)

This freezes the user

@Fluttershy Then parts-wise, you don't need to worry. Your video card might be a bit of a hassle, depending on size, but everything else should be fine for slotting.

@JasonBerkan I've honestly considered this. But with PVC pipe and plexiglass. >_>

@JasonBerkan Need an insulated hinge section, to rotate it inside during summer.

@Fluttershy Plexiglass would allow for a cool visual effect. My co-worker had a fan in his window and dryer vent pipes running from that to the box the computer was in.

9:09 PM
In other news Beastie Bay crashed under my feet for the last time. uninstall

@JasonBerkan Several cases now have built in holes with grommets for tubing without your case looking like a pile of garbage

@BenBrocka That is now. This was 10 years ago.

I was going to joke about "massive overclocking" being something crazy low, but it'd probably be about a current CPU's running speed
Per-core running speed hasn't really grown by crazy much

@BenBrocka IIRC, it was a Pentium II (probably around 233 MHz). Not sure what speed it was overclocked to.

@JasonBerkan Oh then I'm stupid and that is a relatively laughable speed
I swear I had a ghz processor not too much later than that though

9:13 PM
10 years ago was a rough guess - I'm too lazy to figure out exactly when this happened.

Pentium 2 was about 15 years ago

@BenBrocka Yeah, I was just checking that. Now I feel old.

@Fluttershy the case and the airflow and so forth are engineered (to an extent) to fit whatever parts they were intended to hold
if you're going to be buying new parts, I'd suggest getting a case of your own, or finding a "standard" ATX tower used somewhere

there's also the power supply to consider, which I don't know if you've budgeted

9:16 PM
South Koreans don't half ass anything. Even silly internet parody videos.

If you're not one of those non-USians I have an Antex 300 illusion I need to sell anyway

@agent86 Haven't budgeted anything. Just getting ideas.

I have no idea how much shipping on it would be though

I just did a big PC parts buy, and I found 2 things very helpful - reddit's buildapc and pcpartpicker

@BenBrocka Must have been a PIII or late model PII. He used it to play Counter-Strike, which came out in 2000.

9:18 PM
the buildapc folks gave me some good advice about how to spend the cash and what different part numbers were, and pcpartpicker gives you sort of a global view of what's out there, what's compatible, and how much everything costs
I started with tomshardware though to pick the video card, fwiw

@agent86 Very disapointed the reddit link isn't to help you build your own Armored Personnel Carrier

@BenBrocka the superb owl would like a word with you

@Fluttershy I have one of these newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129066 and would be willing to sell it at a loss to get rid of it. Pretty solid case. But shipping might make it not worth it. I think shipping is brutal for cases

I'm going to resurrect my current case - newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147025 although I swapped the power supply at one point for this one - newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171036

9:30 PM
@BenBrocka Why are you selling it?

2 Nedroid comics in 2 weeks?!
@OrigamiRobot Because I have a much better case now

Which is?

HAF X

O_O
I am not paying that much for a case.
And a full tower? Gross.

Q: How do the Silent Assassin requirements work?

Steve V.In Hitman: Absolution, certain actions earn you bonus points. These bonuses add points to your score. Based on your score at the end of the mission, you are given a ranking, on a scale from Agent to Silent Assassin. What's confusing is that not only is "Silent Assassin" the best ranking, but o...

9:33 PM
Part of the purpose was to not have to upgrade the case for years. The HAF X certainly suits that bill. And it's a lovely case to work in

Why would you need to upgrade the case?

@OrigamiRobot That was another reason I got it, no fear of stuff not fitting

@BenBrocka I have never had any trouble fitting things in mid cases

Lots of nice coolers won't fit in mid cases

@OrigamiRobot had this discussion already, would go dig it up but I'm lazy, so meh

9:36 PM
@BenBrocka What kind of government cooling system are you using?
@agent86 I know, but this is a new person.

@OrigamiRobot nvm, I did it anyway. I must be bored. chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/35?m=7738456#7738456

@OrigamiRobot Love my full tower. So much room.

You guys are all gross.
A full tower is such a waste of space.

@OrigamiRobot It goes under my desk. Where the space can either be eaten by my tower, or not at all. Don't really care.
Besides, it's easier to get at stuff in a full-sized case.

Maybe if you're an ogre or have bad hand/eye coordination.

9:40 PM
@OrigamiRobot Or, y'know, you don't like slicing your fingers on each and every pointy piece of hardware you have.

@fbueckert Soooo much nicer. And yeah, I have plenty of room for a big awesome full tower
@fbueckert Modern cases mostly seem much...rounder than old ones. At least the high end cases I've been using

@BenBrocka I got myself an Antec 1200 a couple years ago. Spent so many hours placing the wiring just so.

My HAF X is so comfy inside

@BenBrocka Casing, yes. Hardware is still as pointy as ever.

@BenBrocka's old case would last me the rest of my life.

9:42 PM
@fbueckert I took a while to get the wires in nice, mostly. The back panel is more of a mess, but the airflow is very clear

@BenBrocka Mine, too.
That reminds me, I have some dust filters that need cleaning, I bet.

@fbueckert Pics
Not actually well photographed, just some random shots when I had 'er open
Also that video card cable really needs to be routed better

@BenBrocka That's a big-ass fan you have beside your RAM. For the CPU, I assume.

@BenBrocka Your HDD bays are the wrong way.

@BenBrocka Your radiator stack is the wrong color

9:45 PM
@fbueckert The 200mms? Those are just for exaust, but yes they're over the CPU (the giant heatsink is what I was installing)
@OrigamiRobot What? Sliding out? towards the open way?

@BenBrocka I meant on the heatsink, pointing up.

@BenBrocka They look like the slide towards the back.

And yeah, big fans on top are nice; I got one in the 1200, too.

@SaintWacko It is actually very hard to find a black radiatior. The only one I could find was like $40 more and it didn't come with a fan
@OrigamiRobot They slide out, toward the open side

@BenBrocka Ah. It's not actually a big deal, I just felt like joining in the complaints :P
Although a black radiator would be more efficient

9:47 PM
@BenBrocka Open side of what? Towards the left panel?

@OrigamiRobot "up" in that picture
They're on sliding dollies

@BenBrocka OK, that's the proper way. It just doesn't look like it.

1
Roller Derby

Proposed Q&A site for roller Derby Skaters and Officials

Currently in definition.

@OrigamiRobot They dolly latches just make it look like they're inserted another way

@BenBrocka It looks like they slide towards the back like in the heathen cases of old.

9:50 PM
@OrigamiRobot What's wrong with that?

@fbueckert Well, that explains why you're cutting your hands up.

@fbueckert oh, yeah, 120mms. That's a Sickleflow I still need to get fixed. Made a loud grindy noise

@BenBrocka I've got fans freaking everywhere in my case; intake ones on the front, and side, outflow on top and back.

hoo boy, I'm screwed. computer parts will be here on valentine's day

@BenBrocka I will admit, all those fans are pretty sexy.

9:51 PM
The 80mm on the stock heatsink got too loud at full blast (3000RPM vs 2000RPM tops). It seemed to correct it self a bit but I decided on a better one for now
@fbueckert 230mm on the front and 200mm on the side for intake, a 140mm on the top rear, 2 200mm on the top for exhaust

@OrigamiRobot My current case has modular part removal; I can fit three HDDs into a single piece. They come out the front.
@BenBrocka Big fans are big.

It's got a couple mountings for an internal 80 or 120mm fan for the video cards but I didn't bother to get those in

@fbueckert Out of the front? Why?

@OrigamiRobot Because that's the way the case is built.

Again, why?

9:53 PM
@fbueckert It's part of the appeal of the HAF X. The 200mms run near-silent at ~800RPM and push major air

That seems like the worst direction.

@fbueckert mine has 2 hot swap bays "out the front", from 2 of the 5.25 bays
I opted to not use those though, so I could keep the wires neater (the cabling to the hot swap bays is in a grosser place than the sideways HDDs)

pcpartpicker's pricing stuff is US only right?
It's asking me to register to find out, that's why I'm asking
Also it's really showing me how clueless I am sometimes with this stuff. Like, how do you even choose the "CPU cooler"
is that like the whole case fan thing? I dunno
<___<

Bah, I just use the stock cooler.

I tried putting together something and my thought process is mostly "pick whatever part has 100+ reviews with at least 4 stars and passes basic feature requirements"
The resulting configuration comes for a measly $1.6k

10:00 PM
@badp heatsink and fan, usually

>_>

@badp Probably uses some crazy intel CPU

@badp Should be able to get under 800 easily for a good setup
You've probably got a crazy GPU and CPU

protip the current intel extreme edition is crap

10:01 PM
I guess I'm overreacting given my nVidia 9200M woes

that is expensive-ass ram

@badp compensating for something on that GPU?

@OrigamiRobot my nVidia 9200M woes

graphics card is a bit overkill, could go down a tier or two easy

@badp this is what I bought, pcpartpicker.com/p/CTQi

10:03 PM
I would never pay over $200 for a video card

@agent86 Yeah, I kinda have to start from scratch (I even included a monitor)

I got a good deal on the CPU and a combo discount on the vid card/ram knocked that down another $20

also the prices are kinda just an hint for me because I'm not in the US

240 SSD seems like overkill unless you're not planning to use an HDD for dumb storage (in which case it's underkill)
@badp Aren't the prices basically the same + $asinine shiping?

@BenBrocka Yeah, probably ought to go for 160 + dumb storage

10:04 PM
probably the most expensive video card I've ever bought, but I don't plan to upgrade for 3-5 years, and I've got the cash, so bottoms up and bob's yer uncle.

@BenBrocka I could simply not ship from the US

@badp 120/128 are often the best balance of price/storage/usefulness

current GPU is a 8800gt, although I've been using my laptop for a good couple of years now, no idea what's in there offhand
some radeon whatsit

@agent86 I kept my 4850 for........... 5 years?
then I went to a 6870

@OrigamiRobot I think the 8800gt I've had since '07, but I could be wrong about that. might have been after that...
I think that was around $200, but I feel like I got it down further with rebates and so forth

10:06 PM
@agent86 Yea I had a 8800gt in 2005
or was it a 6600....

Also I'd be sorting more often by price if that didn't freeze the tab for a minute or so every time

nope, 2008, and I paid $175 (thanks newegg order history)

Yea it was a 600GT in 2005
It was $140

I think the CPU in there is an athlon 64 x2 socket AM2
the laptop's got some low-GHz quad core, it's kind of meh for gaming
it played skyrim though, good times

@agent86 You're kind of meh for gaming.

10:09 PM
@Wipqozn oooh, burnnnn
I got told

I got a 6000 instead of a 7000 like an idiot, hoping I can sell it for something decent after the 8000s come out

OK, I lied. My 4850 was in 2010 and I upgraded that last year.

@agent86 You really did. I wouldn't be surprised if you never showed your face around these parts again.

@Wipqozn I would be so ashamed if that happened to me.

@badp also that PSU is pretty overkill. A 600~ is probably plenty and would be half the cost

10:10 PM
yeah, I should probably start over
I just picked things hapazardly from incorrectly sorted lists, imprecise prices, etc.

@BenBrocka I am so bad at picking a PSU

You could check what CasperOne got
He got fairly overkill stuff - the GPU and came out much cheaper
though he didn't get the monitor either

@BenBrocka I have a 430W PSU, and that still works fine with an i2500K and a 560 Ti

besides, if I am going to do something like this, it'll have to wait at least one more month

@OrigamiRobot imho, people tend to overspec their PSUs
pcpartpicker will give you estimated wattages for your selected parts

10:12 PM
@OrigamiRobot You want to be within 20% and 90% of total capacity at idle/load for best efficiency, and you want as high an efficiency rating as possible, but don't pay too much for it (it saves you pennies basically)

@agent86 Yea, which is why I am bad at it.

It's rare you'll need over 600W with only one GPU
Powerhungry AMD high end proc + max load graphics card should get you around 500W, plus other assorted power draws, usually less than 100W for HDDs, fans etc.

Though I'm absolutely convinced now to buy a good PSU, I've seen too many stock PSUs go bad.

@BenBrocka Total wattage isn't the only thing though

sometimes I think people are trying to make popcorn or clean their houses rather than power their pc's :P

10:14 PM
A high end CPU uses around 100W max, the GPU maybe 200W for a higher mid-range card. All the other stuff doesn't use much

@OrigamiRobot Wattage, efficiency and reliability (which can pretty much only be based on the brand) are about it. Unless you mean modular/etc

Of course, I have learned that the whole dual 12V rail things is BS since I last bought a PSU

I do wish I had gotten a modular, but not enough to buy a new PSU...yet

@BenBrocka Amperages

@OrigamiRobot Oh just get a single rail

10:15 PM
@BenBrocka They're all single rail anyway.
Except for some that advertise a really high since rail amperage and then those are actually two rails

@MadScientist High end GPU can use as much as 300W now. Actually getting the GPU at load is another issue
I think my 6950 can allegedly get about that high

I peeked at the wattage I drew in-game on my fancy UPS but I forget what it was

@BenBrocka I was excluding the really high-end here, I've a GPU with two 6-pin plugs for the PSU, that is 3*75W max if I'm correct

I think it's around 33% of 800W at load
@MadScientist well he did have a 7970 in his basket
@OrigamiRobot I have an Earthwatts and I hate it for being green
It is literally green
750W I think

Q: How do I create my own Minecraft Pocket Edition Seed?

user1867740I really want a superflat seed with a ton of useful ores easy to find how do I create a seed and what program do I use?

@BenBrocka The wattage my laptop draws with both graphics card running is enough to blow the fuse on my heavy duty power inverter
@BenBrocka Ooh, yum!
I'm going to be having that tomorrow night

@SaintWacko your laptop has two graphics cards?

@BenBrocka Yep
And three hard drive bays

FAE
If anyone's interested, Bill Gates did an AMA today.

@FAE @AshleyNunn ^
Not sure if you're an HM fan, though, @FAE.

FAE
@fbueckert I've played one of the GameCube ones and I picked up ANB for my 3DS. :)
Haven't gotten too far yet though

@FAE I thought you might've. The brain punted out your name in a cross-reference to Harvest Moon.
Although, @BenBrocka should've been in there, too.
Bad brain! Bad!

user15026
@fbueckert Holy crap. Want.

FAE
10:47 PM
Hehe

@fbueckert the graphics look perfect

Yes. My brain is a giant relational database. It does strange things, sometimes.

FAE
I still haven't gotten too far in ANB yet. I've got my free cow now.
I'm still unsure if I should buy a chicken yet.

@FAE You'll need a coop before you can really raise chickens.
They don't live in the barn with the other animals.

FAE
@fbueckert Oh, I didn't know they lived separately.
I'll wait then on that.

10:51 PM
@FAE January 25th is the day you'll get the Architect, and that's when everything opens.

FAE
Also, megaprops for your fertilizer analysis post. That broke my head a bit and I had to read it more than once, but it's great.

user15026
....WHY KH WHY ARE YOU SO HARD

FAE
@AshleyNunn Which difficulty are you playing on?

user15026
@FAE Easy, I think

@FAE Thanks. I tend to get carried away when I'm surrounded by numbers.

user15026
10:52 PM
I can't imagine myself starting a new to me series on anything else

Q: How does one refer to people who use online handles?

RetrosaurI know this more in line with Etiquette (which is only a proposal), but it's been bugging me for a while, and I'd like some clarification. When referring to others on this site (and many others, including forums, chat rooms, etc.) sometimes, online handles of users may not reveal gender. For ex...

FAE
@AshleyNunn I would probably make sure to stick with that for the other games then, as the difficulty ramps up a little, iirc. I know that completion for something in KH2 is actually easier to do if you do it on Proud (the hardest mode) rather than Normal, but I'm not sure how it is if you do it on Easy for that one.

@FAE I think it's just the secret cutscenes at the end have reduced requirements on Proud, than on Easy or Normal.
And with everything on Youtube, it's not even necessary.

user15026
@FAE I figure Iam likely to play on Easy so I can actually complete the games

FAE
@fbueckert Yeah, that's what I was thinking of. I honestly forget that it's possible to just youtube this stuff nowadays. >_>
I was on dialup until 2007, so I still sometimes forget "Oh hey, I can just watch someone else do this"

10:56 PM
@FAE I didn't have decent internet until I moved out of the parents'; I've been on my own for a decade, now, and I don't think I can do without the internet at all, it's that prevalent.

FAE
@fbueckert After I moved over here, Jochem and I had to live with his parents for a while because you need to get on a waiting list for apartments here in some cities. When we finally got a place, I refused to move in until after the internet was hooked up.
Considering I maintain long-distance relationships, the internet is kind of a critical part of my life.

@FAE Heh. I know the feeling. My first few days after buying my own place, I had no internet. I was SO productive, you have no idea.

user15026
ARGH HOW DO I KEEP DYING

FAE
@fbueckert I get a lot more reading done then, haha.

@FAE I'm honestly surprised you survived your time at home! =P

10:59 PM
@FAE I was all, "This needs doing, and this needs doing, and then this", etc., etc. Once I had internet, though, it was all, "Eh. It can wait."

FAE
@AshleyNunn Sometimes I find taking a break and coming back later helps, if I keep hitting a wall. Otherwise I keep making the same mistakes.
@Fluttershy I'm used to it there, unfortunately. I did a bunch of handheld gaming!

Somehow, I knew this was true
Robusto is in fact, secretly a programming project of Jeff Atwood's. It's especially important not to call them it, because Jeff takes the Turing test failures really hard. — Jon Hanna 4 mins ago

FAE
@fbueckert Haha, yeeeeep. When I was still in university, the first thing I unpacked when I'd move in for the year was my computer, and then everything else was "I'll pull it out when I need it"

Stay awake @Retrosaur, you're sober

FAE
"Who needs clothes? I can game naked!"
11

11:00 PM
@FAE I actually took a little weird pleasure in putting everything in its place
I was like, "finally I get to decide what goes where, and if I want shoes by the door by golly I shall have shoes by the door."

@FAE I've still got some figurines in their boxes that I have no idea where to put them.

FAE
@badp I kept a lot of stuff in boxes, lol
I also would skip fire drills to keep gaming. <_____<
Which I think was technically illegal.
But I was on the freaking 15th floor and it was the middle of winter and my dorm had fire drills like once a week. I got sick of it and said, "Screw it, I'm not putting on clothes for this."

@FAE wow, once a week?

FAE
@badp It was ridiculous.

It's already hard enough to make people take fire drills seriously twice a year
In my high school, they used to do that (twice a year). People would just dance their way to the exit in celebration for the ruined hour of lesson

11:05 PM
@badp For high school, yeah, whatever. Less work.
For personal gaming time, though? Screw that noise.

Besides - proper fire drills would mean that you don't get to 1. dress 2. close your stuff 3. pack up 4. lock your door. You just ought to get the hell out of the building and do nothing else.
It's like basically an invitation for robberies

FAE
@badp Yeah, pretty much

Q: how do i prevent my imbecile son from being an heir

Houndoloni have a daughter and two younger sons. they are all marrying geniuses. however, my older son is inheriting everything and he is an imbecile. how can i make my daughter or younger son an heir? Oops! Your question couldn't be submitted because: This post does not meet our quality standards.Oops! ...

@badp Part of preparations for fire drills: Rig shotgun on front door.

@fbueckert How do you unrig the shotgun when it's done?
Toughest OCD decision of my life http://i.imgur.com/SuZQUWF.jpg
(Not actually tough)

11:18 PM
@badp Presumably some asshat tried to rob your apartment, and unrigged it himself.
And is currently bleeding to death outside your front door.

@fbueckert When can I store lumber and stuff? My inventory is so full of crap I can't store

@BenBrocka Got the Architect?

@fbueckert No. Blacksmith lady just moved in a few days ago

@BenBrocka Need the Architect. They'll let you build a Storage Shed.

When do they arrive?

11:22 PM
@badp Just leave it like that. Otherwise you risk ruining them both.

@BenBrocka Spring 25th.

Alternate plan, just fill up.

Sidenote: keep giving building materials to the blacksmith lady.

@OrigamiRobot Exactly. 10.000 is much more impressive than 40.00 anyway

@fbueckert Arg. Do they let me build a coop too?
I always max my chickens ASAP

11:23 PM
like, 10 times more impressive.

@BenBrocka Yup

@badp 4 times.

how much $ do trhey cost, roughly? I have 12k in the bank
Alllmost bought a second cow but I want buildings first

FAE
@BenBrocka They're half a cow, iirc

@OrigamiRobot 1 extra base 10 place = 10^1 times as impressive

11:24 PM
@FAE I mean buildings not chickens, chickens are 5k

FAE
@BenBrocka Oh okay, I thought you meant chicken cost

@badp Ah, I see your logic.

...unless there's a "10 gallons" button
or the third digit after the dot is always 0
It seems like an unusual level of precision

@badp Three decimal places?

@OrigamiRobot Yeah

11:26 PM
Pretty standard.

Well, okay, readings here are shown to the hundredth of liter and that's 0.002 US gallons

@BenBrocka The building? Materials. The blueprint itself will probably run you ~3K.
Wee! Prenda Law is getting a massive smackdown!

The real wtf is paying 3.999 $/gallon
but we've rehashed this multiple times

@fbueckert link?

11:31 PM
@OrigamiRobot (The cheapest I can realistically get is 8.77)

user15026
One of the places I am considering takeout from offers me "Deep Fried Milk 8pcs"...I am curious what that even is.

user15026
@fbueckert Awesome.

@badp 3.40 here

@AshleyNunn Indeed. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Most likely, this will end up with Gibbs disbarred, and Steele in jail.

@FAE So I guess you really were gaming naked. ;P

11:36 PM
I'll just mention that my room in Amstelveen had a constant 26°C temperature and I had seemingly no control over this.

@badp That seems a pretty decent temperature, actually

@RavenDreamer At home we spend a fortune to aim for 18°C

user15026
@fbueckert We can only dream.

@AshleyNunn That would send a VERY clear message to copyright trolls: Stop it. Or else.

That said we have a few points where our heating isolation really does suck, mostly by windows.

@AshleyNunn What

user15026
@FAE I have no idea. Am I ordering it just so I can know what the heck it is? Yes. Yes I am.

FAE
@RavenDreamer This is more likely to happen in summer than winter

@AshleyNunn It's been nice knowing you, Ashley. Your imminent death by deep fried milk is now beyond our helping, so I wonder if you want to assign a heir for your Gaming reps perhaps?

FAE
@AshleyNunn Let us know!

user15026
@badp Hey, it hasn't arrived yet, so I have time.

11:40 PM
Sure

user15026
And it might be delicious!

user15026
Or terrible.

@fbueckert Now I just need to download a video on BitTorrent with two different computers on two different IP addresses
so that neither downloads the whole thing but then I can stream the whole thing together whenever I need to!

@badp Eh. Too much trouble. Just let the judge smack him down, and see if that gives the rest of the copyright trolls some much needed caution.

Q: What are the basics of trading etiquette?

RetrosaurAre there any basic rules pertaining to trade within Team Fortress 2? How should I treat customers? Should I make it business-like and cut straight to the point, or make small chit-chat? Should I overpay or underpay? Should I sell items at face value or should I highball or lowball?

Yay, new fileserver up and running! Finally.

Awesome, the "new" Wii U I bought is scratched, scraped and discolored(?!) on every exposed surface

@BenBrocka D:

user15026
@BenBrocka Seriously? That is terrible.

Thankfully Amazon will do a full refund, but still, what the fucking hell
It's new, not even "used" or "like new"

FAE
@BenBrocka I find the discolored part the most baffling

11:58 PM
the controller also has finger print grease on it. This is not a new unit

user15026
@BenBrocka No, not at all!

It's like someone took a new unit, groped it a bit and scraped every side with a scouring pad
