This is a huge miscarrige of Justice at a Jewish school: change.org/en-GB/petitions/…

@jamiec Would you care to provide some more context? I, for one, am not familiar with many of the issues and terms used in that petition.
@MonicaCellio directed discussion of this question to chat, so: judaism.stackexchange.com/faq#dontask : "To prevent your question from being flagged and possibly removed, avoid asking subjective questions where … there is no actual problem to be solved: 'I’m curious if other people feel like I do.' ... it is a rant disguised as a question: '______ sucks, am I right?'" ...
... This question reads like political advocacy for a particular petition, and asking for opinion-based discussion of same, rather than like a question about Judaism. It was properly closed as "Not Constructive," but it could well have been closed as "Too Localized" as well.

@IsaacMoses - Sure, 30 Children start at a Pluralist Jewish Nursery which is attached to a School. For 13 Years every child (except 2) at the Nursery has gone on to the Main School. This year, due to a (proposed) change in Admission policy only 25 will go on to the main school with 5 being essentially expelled. This change was pushed through AFTER these 30 children started at the nursery.
There is more information on the link provided, and I urge everyone to sign the petition to hopefully delay this change until the next school year when all parents are aware and can make informed choices. change.org/en-GB/petitions/…

@jamiec Thanks. I feel bad for the families of the five kids who'll need to find a different school after Nursery, but I don't feel like I know enough about the community and administrative issues involved to mix in.

@msh210 and all: Re: this comment, I put to you this question: Mi Yodeya Series: Let it sleep, or wake it up? (And now, I've used up my colon allotment for the day.)

5:03 PM
@IsaacMoses IMO wake it up.

@msh210 You don't think the signal/noise ratio got too high in the upper numbers?
... where by "signal," I mean "actually interesting and relevant facts that are intrinsically identified with the numbers," and by "noise," I mean "answers without that qualification, including joke answers and random encyclopedia entries that happen to have the number in them somewhere"

@IsaacMoses Perhaps do things in groups of 2s? 5s?

5:22 PM
@DoubleAA That's an interesting idea.
Another issue, of course, is that these questions, while probably technically allowable, are not great fits for the general SE model, as evidenced by the way a lot of their answers initially clogged up our "Review: Low Quality" queue.
... and the tradition regarding exactly one user posting them, in a particular sequence, and using a particular single-purpose tag, is also atypical.

@IsaacMoses I don't see why that latter is a problem. (Well, the tag, maybe. But tough. :-))
@IsaacMoses So... what? "Who knows numbers 304 to 309?", "Who knows numbers in the 310s?", etc.?
@IsaacMoses, and now you have daytime chat access? (Nice to see you.)

@msh210 You don't think it makes the community look weird?

@IsaacMoses Weird? No.

@msh210 Something like that. "Do any of these numbers have interesting and significant facts associated with them?"
@msh210 It came back as suddenly as it disappeared. (Likewise.) I had been planning to make this fact evident by showing up at a Parsha Chat, but <coughing fit>

@IsaacMoses So would you like to be a mod again?

5:36 PM
@DoubleAA I'm very happy with the mod team we've got :) If elections ever get called again, I'd probably throw my hat in.
