i assume there's no prescribed way to shade because the shading isn't actually checked since correct shading is necessary to solve the basic sudoku anyways?

so you just use whichever color you want

and i was about to say something about a very strong constraint on boxes with 5 shaded but then i realized orthogonal connections don't include diagonal connections :P
