what's all the talk about US presidents about?
please consult the transcript
Starts here:
20 hours ago, by Sean Gallardy
You think the world's laughing at the UK... look at us
Yeah, I skimmed through it last night. Too tired I was. I'll properly read it now!
On the UK news, the circus is on again and the clown master has just landed.
The chief clown's father can't even get the facts right. Today's statement: "Suicide is pretty much illegal in most countries in the world."
Is that not true? I know it was a crime here until fairly recently
No idea why he'd be talking about that though
What do you charge someone with for committing suicide
Assuming you're talking about Boris Johnson's father
@ErikDarling It's a fair question. There's probably some consequence to it idk
Suicide is a crime in some parts of the world. However, while suicide has been decriminalized in many western countries, the act is stigmatized and discouraged. In other contexts, suicide could be utilized as an extreme expression of liberty, as is exemplified by its usage as an expression of devout dissent towards perceived tyranny or injustice which occurred occasionally in cultures like ancient Rome, medieval Japan, or today's Chinese Tibet. While a person who has died of suicide is beyond the reach of the law, there can still be legal consequences in relation to treatment of the corpse or the...
> While a person who has died of suicide is beyond the reach of the law, there can still be legal consequences in relation to treatment of the corpse or the fate of the person's property or family members. The associated matters of assisting a suicide and attempting suicide have also been dealt with by the laws of some jurisdictions. Some countries criminalise suicide attempts.

I suppose a posthumous murder charge could have some effect on the estate
🤷‍♂️
> Asked if the decent thing would be to call a general election, Johnson replied:
>
> We don’t have rules that permit that. Suicide is pretty much illegal in most countries in the world. It’s not advisable.
Ah, I see.
(Johnson being BoJo's father)
Yes, calling an election would be suicide for the Tories at this point, if the current polls are any guide
11:19
How old is that crow
Old enough to know better, perhaps also old enough not to care
Ah, the wise butler schtick
According to Google, he's 82
Stanley Johnson
@ErikDarling Many older people I know are often (mostly refreshingly) blunt.
For many reasons, but including not caring so much about any consequences.
I don't always agree with them, but I do appreciate the clarity.

Who decided on the standard icon for a database
It looks like a stack of Tupperware
Morning
Well that one sort of looks like a rocks glass
Which is sensible

I am conflicted about this answer

A: Pagination solution increases the logical reads but decreases execution time

Vladislav ZalesakRan into a similar problem. A semi complex application screen with pagination that lead to gbs of data being sorted. Selecting anf paginating only PK lead to a masive drop to data being sortend and while it happened (not sure if always) that logical read were higher, sorting o ky few mbs of data ...

It is vague and somewhat incoherent but the final paragraph is what I would say
Fixed the typos
Sorting shouldn't come into it though
Perhaps a better answer will appear
The best answer is a few relevant links
12:12
I have two questions for the SO. But it will take me about an hour to prepare a repro.
Hopefully your significant other is patient
ha ha ha
She is. Not much help with git though.
Making friends with the EF team didn't work out for you?
12:23
They're not v friendly at all
Hopefully the goats are less stubborn
'Morning
12:56
How dare you
@ErikDarling The death penalty?

1 hour later…
14:24
I wonder if Josh invoiced Sean yet
You would have felt it
@J.D. that’ll learn’em
14:52
I think the disturbance I felt was a lakh of invoicing
But it is the weekend I guess
Maybe he did it for love
wat
love from Sean
I think not
He’s no PSSDiag but he’s cute

> Currently 186 out of 357 Tory MPs - about half - have gone public.

Here's how it breaks down:

Rishi Sunak - 114 MPs
Boris Johnson - 50 MPs
Penny Mordaunt - 22 MPs
In our counting, we are only including MPs who have told the BBC on the record who they are backing, or MPs who have publicly announced their support.
Today was a good day
15:12
@PaulWhite do you understand boat sport terms?
> bludgeoned 41 from 16 balls
I thought that was a door security executive term
Don’t make me use this ear piece
Yes sir
15:33
I have to go to a costume party today
Should I be Tony Soprano Getting The Newspaper or Black Phillip The Goat
First one
I have no idea what the second option means
But I have heard that dressing up and pretending to be black can get you in trouble
Is Tony Soprano a singer?
@PaulWhite it’s just a goat mask
15:54
Oh that seems fine
I at least have the sense to not be a black person for Halloween
Plenty of cautionary tales there
makes notes
16:13
Just gonna get ahead of this one: Hu Jintao didn’t kill himself

3 hours later…
18:45
Ha
The BBC do love a conspiracy theory
Dude's old
@ErikDarling seems v scary
19:14
5:2:1 Sunak, Johnson, Mordaunt - that's of publically declared to the BBC!
19:26
@PaulWhite good movie though. Appropriate for the month.
@ErikDarling I don't know: if you're on Azure then you're paying for reads also. And the rael answer is probably to use keyset pagination, which would remove both the sort and the unnecessary reads. But OP is asking for improvements on rowset pagination, so not directly relevant.
19:38
@Charlieface first mistake is using Azure
@ErikDarling I don't disagree, but ignoring reads completely is probably not wise IMO.
@PaulWhite It's the new British sports: Race for PM. We schedule a match every six weeks.

@Charlieface I’ve done okay ignoring them my whole life 🤷‍♂️
20:43
The repro took 3 hours, but I've figured it out and didn't have to ask a question. I feel like I've learned a lot

2 hours later…
22:30
@Zikato That's the usual pattern
I nearly replied about rubber ducking earlier
Wish I had now
@ErikDarling Yeah we've just never enjoyed them
We try again once a decade or so
People do change
Still regretting the last attempt
Forget what it was called
@PaulWhite you’ve never enjoyed movies? Or ~scary~ movies?
Scary ones
Paranormal Activity I & II were the ones I was trying to remember
Watched at home in the dark
Not a good time
22:46
Oh those are so bad
Don’t even
You’d be better off with The Babadook
23:01
Scared the socks off us
Lack of familiarity with the genre perhaps
Anyway that's how it is
Yeah wearing socks with jandals serves you right
