@Zionmyceliaadamancy I agree it doesn't sound good on pizza, but in certain applications the plastic-y the better
E.g., Walmart's brand of American cheese is the perfect mix of plastic and flavor, so it works really well for grilled cheese, and you can do the satisfying fold-it-in-half-and-it-breaks sort of thing

1:27 PM
are plastic and flavor at odds (more of one = less of the other) or can you vary either freely

Plastic is a flavor

I like whatever cheese they use at Five Guys

Or is plastic a texture?
hmm

once it's melted it has exactly the right consistency to make you not quite throw up from the amount of grease, but get nice and close

I really like plastic-y cheese myself
Plastic-y queso is heavenly

1:44 PM
@NoHaxJustRadvylf Gotta strongly disagree. Proper cheese is always better than plastic

@Zionmyceliaadamancy American cheese is proper cheese, just...reshaped on a very small scale :p
And that makes it much better for grilled cheese and other places where you want it to melt easily and consistently

1:56 PM
@Zionmyceliaadamancy Depends on the kind of "proper" cheese
Most cheeses, sure
not like emmental though
or crap parmesan

Wait emmental is a cheese too?

@pxeger ...what? Are you saying the the individually wrapped, plastic pieces of American cheese are better than emmental?

Probably

@NoHaxJustRadvylf emmental is swiss cheese

Maybe I've not sampled the lowest of the low of American cheese though

1:58 PM
@Zionmyceliaadamancy Any individually wrapped american cheese is garbage, I will agree with you there

@PyGamer0 I can

Kraft tastes like vomit and it's only downhill from there. The good stuff comes in a big, pre-sliced block.

y'all wanna take this cheesy discussion to OTTNB?

Yeah we probably should lol

@Zionmyceliaadamancy Whoa whoa whoa
Blue cheese sucks

smh

This is the good stuff: walmart.com/ip/…

I'd take plastic cheese over that rotten crap any time

You can claim not to like blue cheese, but it's definitely quality

Blue cheese is a preference. Kraft singles are just disgusting

2:02 PM
Quality?
It's strong as hell and makes me want to puke

@Zionmyceliaadamancy I agree Kraft singles are disgusting, but that doesn't make it any less subjective than blue cheese

tbh all cheese is disgusting when you think about where it came from

Kraft singles are mass produced on an immense industrial scale

Even if quality could be objectively measured, it doesn't have to correlate with how much anyone likes something

Blue cheese is less artificial and more interesting

2:03 PM
@pxeger I could carve a turd-shaped piece of wood by hand. Doesn't make it any better quality than mass-produced wood figurines
@pxeger Rocks are even less artificial and more interesting

@NoHaxJustRadvylf Ok I admit it, I'm just reinforcing my middle-class stereotypes of what I consider good culture, and pretending to be a cheese snob

Man, no ones turning this into a good heated argument

The only cheese worth eating is the stuff you get from a bottle of milk after you leave it for a week in the sun

Someone needs to compare people eating X kind of cheese to Nazis before this conversation can go anywhere

People who eat X cheese are nazis
2

2:06 PM
Woah woah woah there

LIAR!!
YOU HYPOCRITES EATING Y CHEESE ARE TRASHY SNOBS WITHOUT ANY TASTE
There we go

Do you actually know anyone who eats X cheese and is sane?

Do you actually know anyone who eats X cheese and is sane?
*ftfy

All the sane people I know eat Gouda, cheddar, even plastic cheese but never X

Do you actually know anyone who eats X⃒ cheese and is sane?
dammit I tried to add another line to the X but it didn't combine

2:09 PM
It looks very cursed
I would have assumed that was your intention

even Lancashire is much better than X

Look I know everyone loves hating on X cheese, but if you just give it a chance, you'll realize it's actually good for a lot of things and hardly Hitler-y at all

Is this the X cheese we're talking about?

no that's a cheese X
we're talking about X cheese
as in, cheese which has expired
cheese which is pining for the fjords

No that's ex-cheese

2:11 PM
X cheese X would be extra cursed though

None of these are X cheese?

No

The second one looks like it could be

X cheese is normally a bit lighter than that though

2:12 PM
Fools, those are X cheese

8 hours later…
10:12 PM
Fools, I eat Wayland cheese
so here's a fun fact: that notification daemon I'm working on (whcih i am trying to build into a debian package) only has one (1) pypi dependency, and that dependency is available as a debian package not in bullseye but in bookworm, the next version
so I gotta wait until the next debian version for this mf
oh and then I have to wait for the pi foundation to release the next raspbian version
...or I could just install it by downloading the package myself and have it work fine :\

I scratched up my microSD card by trying to fit it into a strange reader lol
Had to get a new one
