Q: Examples of "folk theorems"

Eric O. KormanIn Folk Functorial Figuring, Justin Curry gives a quote about Raoul Bott that has this line in it: He talked about 'folk' theorems… theorems everyone knew, but were never written down. What are some good/interesting examples of these types of theorems?

A temporary comment - to update the list of linked posts: Folk Functorial Figuring. — Martin Sleziak yesterday
@MartinSleziak, re, I inlined the question link, so that it should now be 'captured' automatically. — LSpice yesterday
@LSpice Does editing the post "pushes" the link to the list of related post?
I believe the fact that it wasn't linked here is that it was posted before MO joined the Stack Exchange network. (I.e., on the old version of the software.) See also: Retroactively add linked questions

Q: Retroactively add linked questions

Martin SleziakAny question on MathOverflow (or other Stack Exchange site) shows the list of linked questions in the sidebar on the right. A question is added there if there is a link between the two questions somewhere on the page. (I.e., in questions, answers, comments. The "linked relation" is symmetric.) H...

@MartinSleziak Good question! I don't know. But also conversely, will a question disappear from the linked questions link, once it appears, if the comment or body text that linked to it is removed? Anyway, one way or the other, it's linked!

@LSpice As you can see from the post meta that I linked, the question remains among the linked questions even after the removal of the comment.
> Specifically: Suppose Q1 has a link to Q2 and Q2 is not shown in the list of linked questions. Then I add a comment on Q1 containing link to Q2. After this, Q2 is added to the list of linked posts. And it remains even if I remove the comment a bit later.
> However, this does not work if link to Q2 is given in comments rather then in the question (or in one of the answers).
> You can find some of the posts where I added the link in this way in MO editors' lounge: chat.stackexchange.com/… chat.stackexchange.com/search?q=linked&room=10243 chat.stackexchange.com/search?q=temporary&room=10243
> I have saved one example in Wayback Machine - in order to be able to show it here. This post was missing the linked questions: Can a number be factored quickly, given the sum of its prime factors? You can see what it looked like before, ...

@LSpice Maybe I should clarify. If a question is linked only in a comment - it will not stay among the linked question. But in cases like this, it is linked in the question, too - so after removal of the comment, the question stays in the list.

@MartinSleziak Thanks for clarifying!
