I sometimes use the Dyalog APL IDE to work with problematic characters because it always uses a full character slot per character, even if combining char or zero width, etc.

@Adám One would hope so, but code golf languages use plenty of characters that don't monospace properly in most/all fonts. :(

Hi, I made an originally vague post, that refined later as a focused question, still it requires a lot of attention since the question is "is this new?" about a complex idea I elaborate upon. I don't mind it to remain closed, but the reason "lack of focus" is way off.
