I have 5 cantrips: Minor Illusion, Ray of Frost, Mending, Prestidigitation, and Gust. 5 first-level spells: Charm Person, Mage Armor, Ray of Sickness, Comprehend Languages, and Disguise Self. 4 second-level spells: Alter Self, Warding Wind, Invisibility, and Phantasmal Force. Disguise Self and Invisibility come from the Shadow Touched feat; Warding Wind comes from Coulter. That still leaves 6 other leveled spells where I'm supposed to have 5, so I'm going to need to get rid of one of them.

if I get access to 4th level spell slots at level 5, then 9th level spell slots should roll around at level 10, and by the time we reach level 20 I'll be casting level 19 spells to create and destroy multiverses. perfectly fine

I interpreted that as: You can learn 1 spell that is not from your class as if it were from your class, subject to all other requirements including spells known at your level. It's a bit confusing, though

When we left off, our adventurers were chatting with the police officers in the park, one of whom has the Sight and appears concerned by the magic circle, the other of whom is writing this off as a prank by some kids. Unbeknownst to them the fire elemental you subdued is happily burning away in a grill nearby. It is about midday and partly cloudy. Sherri has just approached the officer checking out the circle.

Teri shifts slightly to get a better view

"It's flattering that you think I'm young enough to be a kid, darling, but really, that element in my life is long gone, I'm afraid."

"Ah. Sorry. Of course." The officer rises from looking at the circle, still looking mildly concerned, and takes out her radio. "It looks like this is handled. What did you say your name was again?"

The other officer is wandering back off towards the police car and looks like she just wants to call it a day.

"Oh, I don't think I introduced myself, dear. I'm Sarah, I already spoke to your lovely colleague over there, what a dear, I was just passing through."

The officer squints and gives you a bit of a searching look as something seems to occur to her, and for a moment her eyes flick back down to the circle and then back up. "Yes... of course. Sarah what? If you don't mind."

Can I roll something to recognize the police officers from around?

Sure, that'd probably be flat Intelligence for a memory check

The suburban mom police officer heading back to the car seems familiar and like she's been on the beat around here before, but the one talking to Sherri rings no bells.

@AncientSwordRage You look at the circle closely and suddenly something pops into your mind, although whether it's from your own well of magic or the knowledge the Gesta grants you, you're not certain. This ritual circle strongly resembles the aftermath of a modified teleportation circle (5th level conjuration) that was used as a one-use ritual, probably from a scroll. The graffiti is written in a language you don't understand, but it looks demonic or planar in origin.

Teri will have terrible timing and ask Fin, via message, "what is happening???"

þúst... I don't know what it says, but the graffiti was powerful summoning magic. Fin beams to both Teri and Sherri

"Well," Marsha says, giving Sherri another quick, searching glance. "If everything's calmed down now then, we should be all right. You have a nice day now, Ms. Sarah Wraith, and call us if you need anything."

The way she says it implies a slight bit of wink-wink, like I know this is Otherside stuff but I'm not going to question it.

"Thank you, officer Beaver, dear, and will do. For now, though, I think I'll go find that iced coffee."

... And I think I know how to summon something now Fin continues broadcasting to Sherri and Teri

Officer Beaver nods politely and heads back towards the police car.

Sherri blinks a couple times as the messages arrive in the brain but tries not to let anything on to the officer.

Fin says to Sherri quietly, not bothering to try and disguise her voice but still looking like Shae, "Why didn't you play along?!"

Teri is staying put until the car starts moving

...are the police officers still in earshot?

Both of you can make a Perception check if you'd like - Beaver is just getting in the car.

They're no longer close enough to hear you talking at normal volume

Sherri and Fin, you both catch a snippet of Beaver's radio as she gets in the car and it goes off with a crackling sound: "...situation at the station, get back right away. The two we had in holding are gone." She hastily ducks down to mutter an affirmative before getting in. The car pulls out of the parking lot and you hear the sirens kick up as it drives away: WEEEEEEEOOOOOOOO....

"First of all, sweetie, that's a bit creepy that you're disguised as Shae. It's weird. Secondly, if I had 'played along', that would have implicated me as being a possible perpetrator of arson! I had just claimed not to be around here, dear, you showing up and talking about fire would not have been very convincing! You have to think things through, dear."

Fin positively bristles then transforms back to look like herself

"I did think things through! I can't let the police see me! I'm sure they'd be happy to arrest me if they knew who I used to work for. It's you who didn't think things through."

Teri appears beside your two, a spiderweb in her hair

In the background, the fire elemental is starting to get slightly concerningly bigger as it happily chomps away at its grill charcoal.

"Also, it's not creepy! Having a book in your brain is creepy!"

"Fin. Darlin- God, Teri, you scared me - if I just said that I was not here, to the police, and then you come and say that I was here, what do you think is going to happened, exactly, sweetie?"

"Uh, anyone know how to get rid of a fire elemental?"

Fin picks picks spider web out of Teri's hair idly

Fin frowns at both Teri and Sherri now

"Even if you said you weren't here, do you think the police would believe you? When we were this close to the fire!”

Fin turns round to gesture and notices the baby fire elemental

Sherri gestures to her ash- and soot-free self. "It does seem to have worked, love, wouldn't you say? I don't think I've been arrested yet, unless I just haven't noticed."
