@SPArcheon fun fact: o little town of Bethlehem (etc) scans to morning song (aka one of the very common hymn tunes), so I have now freaked out more people on my own (by texting several people a huge list of all the songs that scan to each other that nobody thinks are common meter)

@BardicWizard scan to? I don't get what this means, sorry, probably either English-specific terminology or something related to specific apps like Spotify?
@trogdor so basically now Twily is thinking to go to the beach with Fluttershy.
Or that she would rather be on the beach than there singing with Fluttershy

I was trying to make it look like both of them were thinking of it
But it's fairly hard because it's pointing left
But anyway I kinda just found it fun
@SPArcheon scan in this context means that you can sing them in each other's ryhm or meter
So for example you could sing some other song the way you sing Jingle Bells
Actually I don't even know if that example works for you

@SPArcheon It's a music/poetry term relating to the meter (in English, the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables) of a line. You "scan" a line of text by marking that pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables, so if two lines have the same meter then they "scan" the same.
So when we talk about Common/Ballad Meter/Measure/Verse we're talking about one of several syllable-stress patterns that are re-used a lot, and all the poems and songs using the same pattern scan to each other (you can replace the words without significantly changing the meter).
This is especially amusing when you take two songs with different tunes whose lyrics share a common meter, and swap the lyrics into each others' tunes, which is what most of the above conversation was about.

@trogdor a totally cool easter egg that I have no part in that you should check.

@SPArcheon . . . an autoplaying video. On a Stack link.

I may or may not have hoped that you would click the link.
