A reminder that EU version of Binding of Isaac Repentance DLC on console is still a borderline scam. Furthermore, the WEB version of the Nintendo EShop page of the game still does not include the disclaimer that the DLC only works on the digital edition.

In case some EU player was thinking to get that for Xmas, check what version of the base game you own.

@Fredy31 The versions are mismatched. Something like the physical EU versions were actually US versions, so the digital EU DLC wouldn't work with it.

@Fredy31 Short version. EU got the console game very late, so many shop sold the US version instead. This is the first problem - many players now have the wrong region version.

Second problem is instead caused by the publisher.

The original physical version was from one publisher, the Repetance DLC is from a different one.

Now, Nicalis made sure to have the DLC work only on the EU version of the game they published - the digital only one.

The EU physical version of the game is NOT compatible

On twitter, they have been promising to fix the issue since early November

On top of that, you have Nintendo not making clear that the DLC only work on the digital version of the game. If you access the shop from the Switch console there is a disclaimer. If you do it from the web version of the shop you don't get any warning

So, Switch players of the physical EU version can buy the DLC online and discover only later that it doesn't work with their version of the game.

when scrolling the new tab i've seen a lot of frustrated people with the physical edition by HEADUP that just spent 20 bucks on a DLC they cannot play. i dont want to beg but please upvote to make people aware of this and spare them some frustration.

oh this sounds like a shitshow

like your physical copy is NA, but the DLC is EU so it doesn't think it applies

probably because the game doesn't have the same ID for the NA and EU versions

I guess thats a bug that has to go up to nintendo and they are taking their sweet time

its so dumb that we still have continental versions of games... like I could understand in the SNES days, where there would be small differences/upgrades between a japan and an na console, but today?

pretty sure the NA PS4 is basically the same as the JP PS4, just with that dumb check changed

@Fredy31 makes sense for some games, much less for others.

I guess it saves some time/effort for things like Project Diva to localize the songs only for a specific region... yet for other it is quite lame indeed.

That said, I will reinstate this. The problem with Repentance DLC is that version of the game from the same region are incompatible.

Idk if there are game devs here but god it seems their controller support is trash. Like when I switch to my switch controller (you actually have to switch it in the options, not just boop your controller and it figures it out) i just freaks the fuck out until i kill the game. Is it really that hard to support controllers decently enough?
