I'd stick to "ladies and gentlemen". It's absurd to claim there's something wrong about this traditional phrase. — Dilworth 11 hours ago
@Dilworth Ah yes, traditions are famously never problematic — Azor Ahai -him- 1 hour ago

Lol

Dost thou have thoughts?

Honestly I wouldn't care too much if a professor said "ladies and gentlemen" to a class, it's not something that would get my jimmies rustled I guess. If anything they could playfully tack on "ladies and gentlemen and persons"

Are ladies therefore not persons? Such a mysterious species!

Truly we shall never understand women. They are a mystery

3:56 AM
Sometimes they say "no" when you know they mean "yes"! How strange

That and their blasted tendency to insist on things like "consent" and "please stop sexually harassing me"
Such absurdity

But the other curious thing is that "gentlemen" are also excluded from "persons"
Perhaps they are of a higher class altogether

They are clearly separated by their insistence on wearing monocles and top hats

Is a three-piece suit also required?

Yes, but a smoking jacket is occasionally permitted if a three-piece is not available.

4:00 AM
Is there a penalty for being caught with a smoking jacket while lacking a selection of expensive cigars?

You must spend three weeks atoning for your crimes by grilling copious amounts of steak while shouting incoherently about sports

Is there a preference for the specific sport?

Football is preferred, but cricket is acceptable if one is a gentleman

Tackle only, or is the flag variety adequate?

That will have to be brought up with the Official Council of Polite Behavior

4:10 AM
How often do they meet?

Once on every fortnight, unless someone cancels in which case it is politely moved to the following Tuesday

How do you know?

Why, I was recently christened a Junior Polite Gentleman myself

May I see the certificate?

It may take me some time to produce as it is locked in my safe alongside my monocle
One simply cannot misplace his monocle

4:19 AM
I heard of a Mr. Koffer who did once.

Outrageous

He wasn't see again.

4:30 AM
The Polite Gentlemen's Society has been known to enforce the rules somewhat impolitely

Smiles during the board meeting and backstabs outside?

adjusts spring-loaded bullet monocle I don't have the slightest idea what you mean

Canes that conceal swords?

whistles

4:45 AM
If you keep asking questions I'll have to get real Polite on ya
