Online friends are the best. I have several friends who I met online in 2014 and we've been in near continuous contact, even through the site we met on shutting down and all of growing up. Literally over seven years, and I have plans to fly out to meet them when I'm out of the army.
How many friendships survive that long, especially never having met face to face?
Online friendships like the PSE buddies are wonderful. It's like a daily little boost of happiness to see new messages and feel loved/wanted by other people, which is an IRL struggle sometimes. And on some level it's easier to talk about things that you struggle with that you wouldn't always feel comfortable talking about in real, public life.
I hope you do get to fly out to see them, that sounds so neat :D
If your wife is comfortable, we'd love for her to join the discord. She sounds like a really sweet person and we're happy to chat with her if she needs a friend.
No pressure obviously
We've already had a Kaktus pop in recently, so I don't see why we couldn't add a few more friends :D
@AncientSwordRage It is a significant difference. I have close friends, who I'm comfortable sharing personal stuff with; friends, who I'll banter around with; acquaintances, who I'll comfortably discuss stuff with or joke around; teammates, who I'll discuss relevant stuff with in a game or whatever; and other varying levels of acquaintence.
