Won't comment on the art style since it is probably simplified for the merchandise (see the G4 horrible quality pictures on some toy packaging)

It's because large patches of solid white don't match the rest of the design choices.

White is otherwise used as an accent, not a fill, and the other fills aren't light enough tints for a pure white to blend alongside them.
probably because of this.

I realized why that design seemed so odd (... other than from the discolored wings)
It's because they seem ready to start singing "In our town"....
I mean....
If you do a group shoot, please try and make each character have a different expression.
