@NiallC. Hubby said he’d never had a dog so oblivious to his immediate surroundings, especially when it comes to stepping into... whatever.

That will (probably) improve with age.

I can only hope. But we got the paw-wiping pretty much down pat. After walks he’ll patiently wait on the inner doormat until I have wiped his paws (and the rest of him, for good measure). It is so far still treat-fueled behavior, but hey - mud season is about to start.

Bonus: I can take off the hiking boots without him underfoot.
