@NapoleonWilson Ooh. Does it have any Latin on it, written in a script like Fraktur or Blackletter that most people aren't used to reading?

12:58 AM
No, straight-to-the-point Arial. Neither Latin nor even English. ;-)

@NapoleonWilson Ok. Does it at least have a seal saying that the university was founded in 1782?

I don't think it's even half as old.

@b_jonas Should I ask this in meta? "How to write author tags"?
Didn't we have a tag for Nick Joaquin before? Wasn't he a topic challenge?

7:26 AM
@NorthLæraðr Is an ongoing topic challenge, but that was the first question asked in this one.

What do we know about ? The tag wiki excerpt is extremely sparse.

11:12 AM
Mark Strand: Eating Poetry: "Ink runs from the corners of my mouth. / There is no happiness like mine. / I have been eating poetry. (...)"
@NapoleonWilson Arial? Oh, the horror, the horror!

(that's the same person as per fanlore.org/wiki/A._J._Hall )
Oh, the tag wiki has a little more detail than the excerpt.

11:44 AM
@Tsundoku Or maybe it's one of the 5 million other fonts that look exactly like Arial. I'm not that well-versed in the wonderful world of fonts. ;-)

Q: What are "deadly voids and unbidden infidelities" in "Moby-Dick"?

RishabhFrom chapter 7 ("The Chapel") of Moby-Dick by Herman Melville: Oh! ye whose dead lie buried beneath the green grass; who standing among flowers can say—here, here lies my beloved; ye know not the desolation that broods in bosoms like these. What bitter blanks in those black-bordered marbles whic...

Q: What's with the dogs in Mark Strand's "Eating Poetry"?

Rand al'ThorIn Mark Strand's poem "Eating Poetry", the first several lines appear to be about a person who has been consuming poetry - I interpreted this as metaphorical, "eating" poetry as in reading it rather than literally eating books. Halfway through the poem, dogs are mentioned as coming up from the ba...

Q: What's meant by "melancholy point work" in "The Just Men of Cordova"?

Ahmed SamirIn chapter 6 of The Just Men of Cordova by Edgar Wallace, the author was describing a young boxer constable and his work under his bad superior. Frank Fellowe was agitating a punch-ball in one of the upper rooms of his little cottage, and with good reason. He was “taking out” of the ball all the...

@Tsundoku Ewwww Arial

@NorthLæraðr You've added a crown to your avatar?
Prince NorthLæraðr?

How to read “The woman who had two navels” by Nick Joaquin? It’s unavailable on amazon, not even available on any other internet site (within limit of my google-fu).

2:01 PM
@Tsundoku Oh, it's a verrrrryyy long story
You would have to go through Puzzling SE's chatroom, The Sphinx's Lair
@Tsundoku You may call me that if you wish

3:12 PM
@Knight It's included in The Woman Who Had Two Navels and Tales of the Tropical Gothic published by Penguin in 2017. I am not aware of any other publication by Joaquin that is still in print :-(

@Tsundoku How did you read that?

1 hour later…
4:31 PM
@Knight I can't find it either.

@EddieKal Hi :-) Eddiorama

@Knight Hi!

Q: Do you know this manga with slaves?

ViviI am looking for a manga i read a long time ago, and i can't remember the title. We follow a young man, his female friend was kidnapped a day before when the manga starts. He founds out that a secret organisation may have done the crime. They take random people from the streets to make them slave...

^ If this gets closed on Sci Fi, do we migrate it?

@Knight What do you mean? I bought the printed book. (There is also a Kindle version.)
@b_jonas I think it's formally on topic but it probably needs a bit more detail to be answerable. (Language? How old is it? ...)

and it's now closed

5:06 PM
@Tsundoku You bought it lately? They say they won’t deliver it to me.

I dropped a comment, but if someone who knows more about manga than me (just about anyone) writes a better one quickly, I can delete mine.

5:23 PM
@Knight I ordered it in a local bookshop on 24 August and received it on 19 September. (I never buy from Amazon as a matter of principle.)

Fine

A new user has posted a non-answer that actually contains a valid point: I Am a Cat (published in 1905-1906) cannot reference The Inimitable Jeeves, which was written almost two decades later. @Randal'Thor ?

8:26 PM
@Tsundoku The non-answer seems to be an attempt to comment, by a user who doesn't have the reputation to add a comment. Do moderators have the power to turn comments-as-answers into comments?

4 hours later…
11:57 PM
@GarethRees Yes, and done. I also unaccepted the Jeeves answer.
