And, I just realised how few of my games are playable without a mouse :(

@Macha I recently realized how shitty console to PC ports are with mouse support in general.
It's like if you don't have a pad, don't bother playing the game.

@StrixVaria How so? The only game that's made me really want a gamepad lately was probably AC:B, and I don't know how much of that is due to playing AC2 on 360 first.

@Macha Dead Space mouse support is the worst thing I've ever experienced, but a few other steam sale games I got are no really ideal either.

Ah, haven't played Dead Space

In Dead Space, the mouse lags until you turn VSync off. Then the sensitivity is so slow it's basically unplayable unless you modify an out-of-game config file. Once you do that, at least the sensitivity is high enough to aim, but the mouse moves too fast to be useful for menus.
It's like they didn't even bother testing it.

1:09 PM
Oh, Fallout 3 had some pretty bad sensitivity defaults, but you could change that in game.

Man, looks like I missed some serious Arqade drama while I was out of town.

@Macha Yeah, that's fine. They can't read my mind and know what sensitivity I want. But the sensitivity options should at least be coherent.

@Sterno Really? Where?

@Mana Everywhere.
There's been more drama this past week than in a soap opera.
A really dramatic soap opera.
Except this drama isn't being plagued by terrible actors and horrible writing.

@Mana Well, I was just going by the starred list: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/5533920#5533920
Newer users seem to think there is some sort of ruling elite here, and a super-secret set of rules that those ruling elite know that they just aren't willing to share.

1:14 PM
We've had:
1. The revival of the ITG discussion
2. Pixel slowly rage quiting over the course of a week, and then making a meta.
3. I think there is more, but I can't recall.

13
Q: I never asked for this

pixelI was asked to post this before leaving. I honestly don't want to post a question of this nature on meta, but I will give the benefit of the doubt this time just in case I was wrong. The outcome of this decides what happens next. Over the last two months I have tried to be active, contribute...

that was basically the end result

The truth is, the rules here are constantly changing and pretty much match whatever the people who happen to read a particular question or answer thinks that they are.e
How do you become the supposed "ruling elite?" Get about 3k rep. Maybe read and post in meta. That's it.

@Sterno Yeah, it's just the nature of the system. It's not for everyone.

I also don't understand why people always want their account deleted.

@Sterno It's the only way to ragequit dramatically

1:17 PM
@Sterno They get too emotionally invested
Getting emotionally invested in the internet is never a good thing

@murgatroid99 @QAdley: Both of these. Some users are just trying to cause the drama, but others are emotionally invested into something and have trouble leaving. An account deletion is the easiest way to ensure they don't come back.

@QAdley Honestly, I'd say we're probably getting at least somewhat emotionally invested, ourselves. Otherwise, why would we try so hard to make this the best place we could?

@OrigamiRobot @badp Can we update Lazers's avatar to Lazer-Slowpoke?

Heck, I spend FAR more time in chat talking to you guys than I do trying to answer questions.

Who is from Waterloo, ON who used the wrong name for the pin?

1:19 PM
@fbueckert True, I guess

Is that @AshleyNunn?

FAE
@StrixVaria Probably.

@StrixVaria Might be; I recall her mentioning living around there somewhere.

FAE
@fbueckert Aye.

@fbueckert Yes, but when you want to leave because you have problems with the community... it's not easy.

1:21 PM
@Wipqozn Oh, it's certainly not easy. I don't dispute that.

It's just like trying to break off with any community (friends, lovers, family, et cetera). Breaking off from a community you're emotionally invested in is a difficult thing. It's probably one of the most difficult things that we, as humans, need to deal with emotionally.

@QAdley Do you know how to get a file off the game on server?

@RonanForman scp
I use winscp

@Wipqozn I think it helps to realise that everyone you care about either will leave you, or you will leave them. No exceptions. But that just might be me. :)

@Wipqozn And that, I agree with. I've had to do that once or twice.

1:23 PM
@MartinSojka Well, yes, we all die eventually :P

@MartinSojka Wow, this place got dark.

@MartinSojka That's a depressing viewpoint. :P Life is so much more than, "They'll leave me someday, so why bother?"

@Mana Your mom just got dark. Burn.

rockpapershotgun.com/2012/07/31/… - Ok, Morrowind officially looks better than Oblivion now. Go modders.

@fbueckert where'd you get the "why bother" from?

1:24 PM
How are things with Daphnee @Mana? Are you two still dating?

@fbueckert If you never expect anything, you'll never be disappointed.

@fbueckert I think it's the opposite of depressing, actually. It's more of "They'll leave me or I'll leave them, so get the party started now!"

@Wipqozn I killed her when she caught me cheating on her with like seven prostitutes simultaneously.

@Mana Did you then have your way with her corpse?

Now we just went from depressing and dark to just plan morbid.

1:26 PM
@fbueckert MAna started it.

No, all is well. We just spent a ~*highly romantic*~ weekend together after not seeing each other for a month or so, and now she's off to Peru for another month to do an archaeology dig.

@Mana Your girlfriend is an archaeologist? That's awesome.
Seriously. Archaeology kicks ass.

If you interpret that sentence in the context of her being a corpse, there's actually some great dark humor there.

Anything related to history kicks ass.

@Wipqozn She's double-majoring comp sci and archaeology because she's not a boring person like me

FAE
1:29 PM
@Mana Aw, how nice. Distance sucks, but it's cool that she's getting to travel for something she's interested in.

@Mana yeah, you are pretty boring.
Also, @Mana, your girlfriend is awesome.

@Wipqozn No, really?!?
I mean, she would have to be pretty awesome to be dating me. That much should be clear.

@Lazers Yay! A question I have an answer for!

either that or just really, really pitying me.

1:32 PM
@Mana nah, pity dates usually only last for the one night. If you know what I mean. Wink wink.

@Wipqozn ...
2

Also, for some reason I thought your girlfriend was a biologist.

Is there any way to add more white space in posts? I can't see how to add more space than one line-break and my answer looks very cramped.

@RedRiderX I don't think so, to prevent people from spamming large amounts of white space.

@RedRiderX Try using level 2 or 3 headings?

1:34 PM
@RedRiderX you could probably use <br>

oh.

The headings look ridiculously big on my machine

@YiJiang That's what your mom said!
sorry about that. Couldn't decide between that's what she said and a your mom joke. so I merged them.

Isn't that weird though? That SE, who are against people putting Thanks or Hope This Helps in their answers, because it detracts from the actual answer part, would let you put large amounts of whitespace in?

@YiJiang I am currently using level 2 headers, maybe I'll make them a bit smaller.

1:36 PM
@Wipqozn ...

@Mana If we couldn't include lots of white space, then how could we answer questions about Whitespace?
Whitespace is an esoteric programming language developed by Edwin Brady and Chris Morris at the University of Durham (also developers of the Kaya programming language). It was released on 1 April 2003 (April Fool's Day). Its name is a reference to whitespace characters. Unlike most programming languages, which ignore or assign little meaning to most whitespace characters, the Whitespace interpreter ignores any non-whitespace characters. Only spaces, tabs and linefeeds have meaning. An interesting consequence of this property is that a Whitespace program can easily be contained within t...

@Mana but they don't prevent you from putting those in, they just edit them out

@murgatroid99 that's fair

@Wipqozn The better question is why would we answer questions about Whitespace?

Your mum's so fat, she's still 96px big when placed between <small> tags
7

1:37 PM
@YiJiang DAMMMMN YO THAT DISS MADE ME SNARF.

@YiJiang daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. I think I'll need to got to the burn ward after that one.

@murgatroid99 I already have one linebreak, but it appears I can't add anymore than one at a time.

@RedRiderX even with multiple <br> tags?
@RedRiderX it works for me

@murgatroid99 Oh, that does work.
suddenly feels very incompetent

@RedRiderX I would consider using something besides lots of whitespace to separate parts of questions, like horizontal lines (-----)

1:39 PM
@RedRiderX wait, what? you have <500 rep? For some reason I thought you were >3k

Q: Does every Blizzard add-on require one game account?

ayckosterHere is what I want to know: Once Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm (HotS) is released I want to have 2 copies of the game, so I have a main account and another one for goofing around. I do own one account of Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty (WoL). Can I buy two copies of HotS and register them on m...

@Mana Why?

@Wipqozn Yeah.
@Wipqozn RedRiderX is actually Mohican for "Big of heart, low of rep."

@Wipqozn Have you played Stalker?

1:43 PM
@Mana There was this one girl back in High school, but I lost track of her a couple years ago.
(aka no, no I have not)

@Wipqozn HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
catches breath

@Wipqozn But you can change this:

A: What are the differences among Cave Story versions?

RedRiderXTL:DR Cave Story 3D (for the 3DS) is a 3D remake of the 2004 original where all the characters and levels are in 3D perspective. There are also a few "easter eggs" for fans of the older games. The Full Story There have been numerous new versions and unofficial ports of Cave Story since the...

Vote now!

So, Stalker IMO is Fallout done right. The combat is much more thrilling because there are no stats or anything RPG-like, only inventory. You're on the same level as your opponents. You take the same amount of damage they take. Also, it's set in an alternative version of post-Chernobyl Russia, and it's not brown. There's like forests and stuff, and lots of green.
Lots of people talking in Russian all around the place, which gives it kinda this neat vibe.

@Sterno I thought we got rid of that guy

1:47 PM
@Sterno That's the second one of those he'd recommended.

anyways, gonna go grab food.

@RedRiderX admittedly, I think the original version looked better

@Sterno The UnknowN Poo strikes again!

@murgatroid99 You probably did. That's from July 27th. I'm catching up on this site... been out of town a few days

@Sterno He even created an account to deface our site! How charming

1:48 PM
@Sterno oh. I remember seeing something like that but not necessarily the same one

@YiJiang Not sure what was going through his head; he posted a meta complaining about his questions and answers being changed.

@murgatroid99 That's why I'm glad they let you switch to the old graphics in Cave Story+.

@RedRiderX I meant your answer

Is anyone free to help me with some minecraft testing?

@Mana Oh, sounds interesting. I might need to play it. I've never even looked at the same before, but I was always under the impression it was just your run-of-the-mill FPS.

1:49 PM
Also, Orcs Must Die 2 is amusing.

And as a matter of fact, you can also suggest improvements for other people posts yourself - if your suggestions are accepted, you actually gain reputation points yourself! And if the suggestions are rejected you lose nothing, and you also usually get an informative reason as well as to why the suggestion was rejected. — Oak Jul 27 at 21:17
He certainly took Oak's advice
Hmmm, well, the edits were from before this comment

@murgatroid99 Oh. How 'bout now?

@Mana Have you installed the Stalker Complete mod?

@RedRiderX looks pretty good to me
@YiJiang oh, right, it's the edit suggestion linked to in the answer to that question that I remembered

Yes! I have finally achieved 500 rep.

1:59 PM
@RedRiderX It's all downhill from here!

So I guess The Hobbit is being turned into 3 movies instead of 2?
I think that's going to be more singing dwarves than I really need.

Wait, what? The Hobbit is getting extended past a single movie? Since when?

@Sterno Gee, I sure don't remember the book being that long.

@RonanForman What are you doing hanging around school playgrounds again?

@QAdley What?

2:14 PM
@RonanForman I'm stalking Arqanauts
You appear to be located in a school playground

@QAdley How would you know that?

@QAdley The map's not supposed to be THAT accurate.

@RonanForman I zoomed in on your pin...
@fbueckert O RLY?

Hey British people. I was watching the Olympics, and I saw a bunch of squiggly white lines on your streets. WTF do those mean?

@QAdley It's supposed to represent general density. That amount of accuracy is not required. I mean, you can place it that accurately if you want, but there's no need to be.

2:16 PM
@StrixVaria By a Pelican Crossing?

@StrixVaria The road race? I saw them, I have no idea.

(seriously that's what it's called)
@fbueckert (I know, I was being sarcastic - it's ok)

@QAdley I just placed it in nottingham, I have no idea where it is.

Those squiggly lines there.

@StrixVaria It's Art

2:18 PM
@StrixVaria Do not park?

@QAdley No. Maybe I meant "jagged" not "squiggly".

Drunk people drawing the lines?

@StrixVaria They mean don't stop, don't overtake

@QAdley That sounds safe. "Don't stop" with a crosswalk directly in the middle in that picture.

Another means of indicating "don't stop" is a yellow box with a cross drawn in it

2:19 PM
@StrixVaria Don't stop as in part and get out.

@StrixVaria Don't stop unless for pedestrians. Parking/stopping otherwise would be hazardous

Used at intersections

@YiJiang That's a box junction, slightly different

Oh ok.
We have signs for stuff like that in the states instead of painted road lines.

@YiJiang You don't enter the yellow box unless you can get all the way through it. Stopping in the yellow box is a cardinal sin.
You will be stared at by fellow drivers. A fate worse than death to a British person.
2

2:21 PM
@fbueckert It had already been planned for two. It was changed to three yesterday.

@QAdley We need that in this country. It's very rare for an intersection here to have that rule.

@Sterno Also known as: "Money! Give us money! Moneymoneymoney!"

And it causes tons of awful situations, where no one can move because a bunch of jackasses are sitting stationary blocking the whole intersection.

@StrixVaria It's so that you don't block traffic coming the other way when the lights change

It's also used around bus stops here, to prevent other traffic from blocking the bus' exit

2:23 PM
@QAdley I'm so sad that stare-shaming is negligible in the U.S. - there's really no way to make someone realize they're the asshole.

@IanPugsley Yeah seriously. People do the worst things on the road, then get pissed when someone gives them the finger for it.

@IanPugsley You can feel people's eye bore into you. You just have to stare straight ahead and pretend you don't know they exist. It's awful.
shudders

@QAdley Oh, I'm familiar with the idea (and application) - it just does nothing while driving here.

I had someone almost run me off the road because he didn't understand how merges worked, then tailgated me for 5 miles before riding up alongside me and cutting over, forcing me to slam on my brakes.

@StrixVaria Hooray for road rage

2:25 PM
@StrixVaria I had someone undertake me on the motorway once, pull out into my lane and slam on the brakes. That was fun.

I hate people who drive like they're immortal
I seriously believe that most bad driving is caused by people who don't understand that they can die

A box junction is a traffic control measure designed to prevent gridlock at busy road junctions. The surface of the junction is marked with a criss-cross grid of diagonal painted lines (or only two lines crossing each other in the box junction), and vehicles may not enter the area so marked unless their exit from the junction is clear (or, if turning, to await a gap in the oncoming traffic flow). In the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (where, in both places, cars drive on the left), drivers may enter the box and wait when they want to turn right and are stopped from doing so only...

@StrixVaria This happened to me on the D.C. beltway routinely (minus the part where he could stay nearby and try to cut over, the beltway doesn't really allow for that).

@Sterno The thing is, if someone does that and you hit them, it's their fault.

According to this article in the US motorists should assume every junction to have the same rule in effect
Which would actually save a lot of yellow paint, if you ask me

2:26 PM
@QAdley I'd just as soon not them though.

@YiJiang For most people, a yellow light just means "go faster to get through this intersection before the light turns red."

@YiJiang Yeah they should. But there are also rare intersections where it's also explicitly stated with a giant white crosshatch. Those are the only ones where it actually matters.

@IanPugsley I thought that in the U.S. people just take out their guns and shake them angrily at bad drivers.

@Sterno True. I just don't see how it makes sense in their heads to mortally endanger themselves, at their own risk, just to make a point.
@RedRiderX They do that to everyone.

@RedRiderX Only in the states South of the Mason-Dixon line ("The South"), which is unfortunately where I live.

2:28 PM
@IanPugsley That ought to be way more convincing than a angry stare.

@RedRiderX The thing is, two people angry-staring at each other? No big deal. Two people pointing guns at each other...bigger deal.

In the US, or at least here in FL... drivers enter intersections all the time when they know they won't be able to exit. If they block the cross traffic, that's "not their problem". But usually only one or two drivers make the mistake at a time, so it clears up

@DavidB 'Not my problem' is a terrible attitude

@DavidB It definitely happens here too.

2:32 PM
@QAdley Pfff, you don't need 'no fancy machine for that.

@QAdley Tell that to the entire history of the entire world.

Someone needs to teach these people some elementary game theory and Nash equilibria.

@QAdley So the SEP field generator is a standard feature for American cars

@YiJiang SEP?

Somebody Else's Problem field.

2:33 PM
@YiJiang Aaaaah. You Americans and your fields.

@QAdley Hey, Canada has fields too!

@QAdley Wellll, Douglas Adams is British

@RedRiderX Yeah, but they're all covered in snow and bear poo.

@RedRiderX Hey, Canada has fields too ey!

@IanPugsley No, they're all covered in Geese poo.

2:36 PM
@RedRiderX We get your crappy geese over here too.

@QAdley But we have Canadian Geese.

@RedRiderX Yes. We have them too.
As in, the same ones.

@QAdley True, Canadian geese never really spend much time in Canada.

2:49 PM
@YiJiang I love how in a picture from England, the biggest text you can read is "Chinese Foodstuff" ... in Chinese (中国食品). :D

@MartinSojka Heh, we're everywhere now! Muwahahaha

@MartinSojka Ha, that's the town where my parents live
It must be one of the least ethnically diverse towns in the South East

Geese are jerks. They're crazy aggressive.

@fbueckert Swans

@QAdley Them, too. We look at them, go, "Aww, so pretty." while they plot on how to tear our heads off.

2:55 PM
@fbueckert You make them sound like cats

@IanPugsley I did for a while, but then I found out that it made the game easier by reducing the vision and hearing of NPCs, so I uninstalled

@Mana Are you still using the realistic weapon damage mod?

@IanPugsley No, no mods atm

@QAdley Ok, so I had my "Why didn't I notice it earlier, am I getting senile or something?" moment. There's a river Cam at Cam-Bridge. D'oh!

@QAdley Why would swans fear us? We feed them for crying out loud. We're walking food dispensers. We don't kill them on sight, so they see us as harmless.

3:00 PM
@fbueckert We feed them bread, which is way worse than killing them on sight.

@MartinSojka The pronunciation is confusing though, it's Cam as in engineering, not Came as in Cambridge.
@RedRiderX Some of us are more considerate and feed them chunks of ourselves.

@QAdley Oh, so you're the reason they're eying me like a cut of meat.

@fbueckert He is a cut of meat.

@RedRiderX Bah. If he was actually a golden pork chop, he'd kill any bird that actually ate him.

Also, zeus damn it @Mana all this time I thought Stalker was some generic-run-of-the-mill FPS. Now I need to add it to my ever growing list of to-play games.

3:08 PM
@Wipqozn It's got a really neat feel to it, I think you might enjoy it.

@Mana I'm sure I will.
Now I need to buy it. And play it.
Scumbag Mana. Forcing me to spend money.

@Wipqozn I should have recommended it when it was on sale

@Mana You should have. You monster.

I'm sure it'll be on sale again sometime though.

Yeah, probably.

3:09 PM
If you have a long backlog why not just hold off until then?

Christmas most likely.
@Mana Yeah, I most likely will.
Plus when Guild Wars 2 comes out I'll be busy with that.
I'm assuming stalker is long?

@Wipqozn Yeah, reasonably. And there are two expansions.

@Mana Oh my.
Yeah, I'll wait until a sale. Once GW2 comes out I'd stop playing ti anyways. Don't want to rush through it.
Speaking of which, Guild Wars neds to hurry up and be released.

@fbueckert I'd snap their beaks at any rate

also, this song is gooooood.

3:15 PM
lololol
Oh site I've never heard of until now, how you need to learn to check your facts.
GW2 pre-order started months ago.

3:30 PM
I love how the beeb has a special 'British Disappointment' icon in their feed: bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19040176

@QAdley Where?

@Sterno You around?

@RonanForman Scroll down to something we lost
Shouldn't take you long

@QAdley Yeah I found it.

Ok, guess not. If anyone else has played a barbarian into Inferno, perhaps they can review this for accuracy?
My Monk doesn't seem to have the Flinch issue but has the desync issue. My Barbarian doesn't seem to have the desync issue but the "flinch" occurs a lot. I think its specific to the Barbarian class. — user30008 10 mins ago

3:37 PM
I like how people have more gold medals than we have medals.

@RonanForman I love how places like Kazakhstan are massively outdoing us

The thing I like most is how we lost at cycling.

@RonanForman Yes. We might get some medals tomorrow apparently.

And they'll all be bronze.
Don't you hate it when programs don't quite do what you'd like.

Q: Essentials Plugin config.yml: Prevent mob spawn not working?

kevlar1818I am using the Essentials plugin for my Craftbukkit server. In the config.yml file, under the prevent tag, I set creeper to true in order to prevent Creepers from spawning: # General physics/behavior modifications prevent: lava-flow: false water-flow: false ... villager-death: false ...

4:03 PM
@RonanForman Final Episode?

@James I'm just uploading the map we used, I'll give you the link.

@RonanForman Why do I need the map? :D

@James I was going to link it for people to download in my video.

@RonanForman Ahh... Ill pass, thanks though :)
I have not had requests to download the map, and if they want it they can check out your murdering me!! :P

Yay! I can now delete all those files.

4:14 PM
here is to a successful posting of an UHC series :D
And if I did not have a wedding to go to this weekend id be up for another match

@James I've been working on getting it to auto-vanish and creative you when you die.

@RonanForman What? You run away from coding :)

Plugins, although I probably need a new one made.
Who was your friend who made the last one?

FIVE new TSW investigation missions. Hooray.

@LessPop_MoreFizz That sounds like, what? A couple hours worth? Maybe?

4:21 PM
@fbueckert It's roughly a 50% increase in what was in the game a month ago.
And an Investigation mission, if you're not googling hints, can take several hours at a minimum.

@fbueckert I am now

Since they tend to involve things like cryptography and reading Poe short stories, and researching flemish painters.

@fbueckert But I have no idea what the "flinch" thing is

@Sterno Sounds like attack interruptions or something.
But, I've never seen anything like that in D3.

I've only seen very specific monsters cause it, and the types that do have such slow attacks that I've never been locked by it
and it's always been coupled with knockback
(though not necessarily the elite "knockback" affix)

4:23 PM
@Sterno Yeah, I know what you mean.
Just wanted to make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass about something I had no idea about.
Confirmation is always a good thing.

You can’t fix what you can’t measure, so the first thing we did as a part of our Summer of Love campaign was try to measure friendliness in an objective and repeatable way. There are different ways of massaging the data, but I do want to give you a flavor for the kind of comments we’re talking about when we’re talking about unfriendly comments. Here is a snapshot of the com …

@RonanForman Golui did the countdown

@James I may need to ask him for another plugin.

@RonanForman I have no idea how to get ahold of him, hehe
He was just someone I met at the Tower Control game

I guess I'll have to learn how to code bukkit plugins then.

4:28 PM
@Mana: Sooo I started watching some game play videos of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and now I pretty much need to play it asap. IT looks so gosh darn good. Curse you mana. Curse you. (Also thank you, because this should make the wait for GW2 a lot less painful)

@James Have you got to your death yet?

@RonanForman I refuse to watch it
On account of there being a lot of three initial type people in the office today :D

@James Aww c'mon, you get to see me die afterwards.
Oh, okay.

Oh man, this is some serious crypto shit.
Translating latin into this wierd runic alphabet to unlock shit.
and then decoding from that.

@RonanForman ;)

4:33 PM
@James three initial type people?

@Wipqozn It's a ton of fun - you should get it.

@IanPugsley I plan to buy it once I get home.
It just looks so damn good.
According to the internet the game ranges from 15 - 30 hours, which is a good length, and should ensure I'm finished with it before GW2 comes out without needing to rush.

@Wipqozn Look into Stalker Complete 2009 (the mod) - it adds a lot, I like it. Also look into the realistic weapon damage add-on, otherwise things a little bit silly.

@IanPugsley For a first-time play through?
I normally prefer to play games without mods the first time through, unless there are some serious issues with the game that a mod can fix.
ALL THE EDITS

@Wipqozn Read about it, decide for yourself - I'm doing it for my first-time playthrough.

@IanPugsley: Oh, just playing through for the first time now?

If you wanna just rush through you probably can, but I'm taking my time and immersing (no walkthroughs), and it's quite an experience.
@Wipqozn Yeah, I'm about halfway through.

@IanPugsley I don't plan to rush through. HowLongToBeat gives it a playtime of 15 - 30 if you're not looking for 100%.
but not rushing through and what not

@Wipqozn I'd say that's fairly accurate - I'm at about 17 hours right now, with lots of meandering and "not sure what to do"-ing, probably about half done.

OH MAN. There's now an animation for the eating of tacos.

Q: How does scoring work in Orcs Must Die 2? (getting the high-scores)

BlueRaja - Danny PflughoeftMy friend and I were able to get in the leaderboard top 100 on the later levels (likely because it's only been out a day) by spamming coin-forges and using coin-trinkets. However, the top few scores still have 3 TIMES (!?!) as many points as we do. Also, in the first couple of levels, we can't ...

I am CRACKING CODES

@LessPop_MoreFizz Via Google, or actually doing it yourself?

Cracking codes or coding cracks?

@fbueckert Doing it myself
I have an entire notebook page full of crazy symbols atm

Those are roman numerals

@LessPop_MoreFizz Awesome. So much better than just finding the answer online.

@LessPop_MoreFizz's crackin codes and I don't care.. @LessPop_MoreFizz's crackin code and I don't care

@fbueckert Update came out two hours ago.
Not much on google I'd wager.

Hehe, I can not remember the rest of that song :D

@LessPop_MoreFizz You underestimate the need to be first.

@IanPugsley: My word complete looks a lot better (visually) than vanilla. I might go with complete, since it looks like it is just graphical / audio changes, and bug fixes.

Like @Mana said, it does change the distance at which things are detected by the A.I.:
Early detection - Removed the ability for NPC's to notice you at unrealistically large distances.
Stealth - Knife and other critical sounds such as falling dead bodies, grass, and footsteps have been properly commented to reduce their sound radius, making the gameplay much more realistic.
Death panic - Reduced the sound distance of death cries (in the original game it caused the entire camp to alert once one member was hit, as it was set to be heard at a great distance).
But I really like it, I tried for a couple hours without it and then caved.

@IanPugsley blarg. I hate that :/ It makes the game easier, but it also makes it more realistic (and, by the sounds of it, better)

@Wipqozn It's a pretty significant change, but it's one that I think is for the better.

@IanPugsley It's not about better though, it's about experiencing the game the way it was meant to be playing.

@Wipqozn Personally, I don't really care about experiencing a game the way the devs meant for it to be played - if I can find a way to create a more entertaining experience, I'll do it, whether that's through modding or through emergent gameplay.

This is almost reminding me of the UFO series; those were fun games.
