@ElectionBot how to vote
what is the election status?

The election is in the final voting phase. You may now cast your election ballot in order of your top three preferred candidates.

@ElectionBot In order to nominate yourself as a moderator, does a candidate need to have 3000 reputations on a particular site or a sum over network-wide reputations?

@Knight ElectionBot is not nearly that smart. That said, I am that smart: one must have sufficient XP on the site they are moderating.

2 hours later…
5:02 AM
There is now 18544 Caucus badges and 7581 Constituent badgse. AFAICT it was 15174 and 6676 before the election.

@Knight It's only 1k here on Math and 300 most other sites on the network other than SO, where it's 3k.

@ElectionBot how many votes casted?

@Catija Thanks.
@XanderHenderson :) XP reminded me of Windows XP

Hi, why do the applicants advertise so much their patience. Compared to other communities on Stackexchange I have to say, the mathematics community has almost always been very patient.

@baxbear If you see here, patient is actually listed as one of the general criterion to be a good mod.
@AbramIvanov Unfortunately the bot cannot answer that. But you can count the Constituent badges awarded. Right now it's 7729, so 7729-6676 users has voted.

@MartinSleziak If most of those who visited the election page vote, I'm on track in my estimated number of votes this time. =D

@user21820 thanks for the participation, I thought you'd guess 2182,0 ;D. I'll have to keep track of them. amWhy: 2146, Xander: 2147, user21820: 2800.

The election bot answers only to a fixed set of questions (to be given in the exact form specified), which are listed on "@ElectionBot help" It is not an AI chat-bot one can talk to or anything like that.

Elected ♦ moderators is an entirely voluntary role, and they are not paid by Stack Exchange.

who are eligible to stand
how to vote

@ElectionBot: are you a bot?

11:56 AM
@AnindyaPrithvi as explained, you can get answered exactly on the question listed.
@user21820 apparently they find the question insulting. Could you test the candidate score thing.

@quid Hahaha.. okay.

what is my candidate score

@quid Wow! You have a maximum candidate score of 40! Alas, the nomination period is over. Hope to see your candidature next election!

Interesting; before that they told me I already have a diamond.

@ElectionBot: Sorry if my earlier remark was out of place.
@ElectionBot: What's my candidate score?

11:58 AM
@user21820 Your candidate score is 37 (out of 40). You are missing these badges: Reviewer, Steward, Refiner.

Thanks.

@quid It's just a bunch of if-statements. Apparently, the first one in the list that applies would trigger and not the rest.
@ElectionBot: Who are the candidates?
Hmm seems like it only responds to the first version of the message.
@ElectionBot: Who are the candidates?

Currently there are 6 candidates: heropup, TheSimpliFire, Xander Henderson, Brahadeesh, Paramanand Singh, Matt Samuel

There. Hypothesis verified.
@ElectionBot: Who to vote?

@ElectionBot: What's my candidate score.

@Cornman Your candidate score is 19 (out of 40). You are missing these badges: Cleanup, Marshal, Steward, Convention, Investor, Copy Editor, Refiner, Tag Editor.

Interesting.

Welcome to the election chat room! The election is currently in the election phase. I can answer frequently-asked questions about the election - type @ElectionBot help for more info.

12:58 PM
Why are people teasing the bot? If it gets annoyed too much it might sabotage the ongoing election by giving wrong answers to users.

@ElectionBot: What's my candidate score.

@Daniil You are not eligible to nominate yourself in the election as you do not have at least 1000 reputation. Your candidate score is 2 (out of 40).

What are the moderation badges:
editing badges:
participation badges?

@ParamanandSingh Did bots reach that level of intelligence yet?

@blademan9999 There's a cooldown period, so if you ask too many questions at once, it won't be able to answer.

1:09 PM
I only asked on question
*one
@electionbot what's my candidate score

@blademan9999 You are not eligible to nominate yourself in the election as you do not have at least 1000 reputation. Your candidate score is 4 (out of 40).

@electionbot how is candidate score calculated

The 40-point candidate score is calculated this way: 1 point for each 1,000 reputation up to 20,000 reputation (for 20 points); and 1 point for each of the 8 moderation, 6 participation, and 6 editing badges

@electionbot what are moderation badges

The 8 moderation badges are: Civic Duty, Cleanup, Deputy, Electorate, Marshal, Sportsmanship, Reviewer, Steward.

1:11 PM
@electionbot what are participation badges

The 6 participation badges are: Constituent, Convention, Enthusiast, Investor, Quorum, Yearling.

@electionbot what are editing badges

The 6 editing badges are: Organizer, Copy Editor, Explainer, Refiner, Tag Editor, Strunk & White.

@ParamanandSingh You can console it.
=)

@user21820: let see if that works. @ElectionBot: please don't mind the things you don't understand.

This is a test to see (what is my candidate score) if extraneous data would be filtered out

@ParamanandSingh Haha I think it does that in this room. When I first tried it out it gave silly responses when it didn't understand.

I think it is better it doesn't. I mean it is a bit noisy as it is. I don't want to complain as I also talked with it a bit, but it does dilute the actual conversation (to the extent there is any)

@quid Yes it's good this way. But all humans want to have a bit of fun with robots. =P

@user21820 there is dissent expressed regarding this sentiment in my new room on meta.se chat.

3:32 PM
A piece of advice for voters: Please don't spoil the names of nominees you have voted for.

I've voted for @Asaf
And quid, and...wait

Yourself!

I can't confirm or deny that. I won't spoil the names of the nominees I voted for. :)

I am against this kind of spoiling because it may direct confused participants to vote for them for no reason.

@aminabzz what do you mean by "spoiling"? To state for who one voted?

3:43 PM
Exactly

Thanks. That's what I assume but I was not sure.

@ElectionBot What is my candidate score?

@quid like icon

@hardmath Try "what is my candidate score". I actually don't see the bot here but maybe there are too many users

If there are too many users it says that there are more and there is still space.
It seems it "left."
@aminabzz thank you. It was assigned to me thus I can only take credit for not changing it.

3:48 PM
I wondered if the end of nomination phase changed the scope of queries it would answer.

@hardmath it does seem to change the answers a bit.
During the nomination phase it encouraged to run; now it says it is too late.

@quid 👍

@aminabzz Is that official policy? I'd agree with it, but you should be telling the numerous users who explicitly stated their votes on the main election page!

@user21820 as far as I know there is no policy on that. And endorsements are common.

Ok good to know.

3:59 PM
That is not to say that the advice is not good; just that not following it is common (and not something one gets in trouble for with the mods of SE etc)

@quid Well I don't see any problem with justified endorsements, but I'd think that just saying "I voted (or will vote) for XXX." without any reason whatsoever wouldn't contribute meaningfully to the election.

6 hours later…
10:20 PM
How do the first, second, and third choices contribute towards a candidate's final vote count? Is the final count a weighted average of the total first, second, and third choices they get?

10:47 PM
25
Q: How will the voting in the election work?

quidHow will the voting in the elections work? I know that we elect one moderator and I have heard there are three votes to be cast. How does this work exactly? What are the implications of casting more than one vote? If I have a clear preference, do I vote only for them, or do I still cast other vot...

That should help.

11:02 PM
Thanks!

11:12 PM
No problem!
