@Zanna I wonder if anyone is dual-booting Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with Windows NT 3.51.

hahaha
to be fair, my dad only just gave up trying to get Vista to work so he could run some ancient proprietary software. I got my tenacity from him.

What software?

hmm one thing was AutoCAD

Like, a really old version?
NT 3.51 is very old.

well, AutoCAD is very expensive. He could not afford to buy the new version or subscribe or whatever they make you do now

I had been using AutoCAD for some years before I switched to Linux. Then we looked into CAD software that would work on Linux and we settled on QCAD. I learned to use that (actually it's better than AutoCAD). After trying to keep/get Vista and XP running for a long time, my dad gave up and also learned to use QCAD

Do you think people here would be interested in learning QCAD?

good question!
I was thinking of posting a new meta question to work on arranging the details of that answer in the next couple of days

Sounds good.

@Zanna I didn't know there was anything that ran on Vista that wouldn't run on Windows 7.

the fact that my dad believed he needed to install Vista to run something should not be taken as reliable evidence that doing so was in any way necessary
