@Mithrandir24601 I liked the first violin piece and liked the violinist. Then YouTube played two more lovely pieces and I watched her a bit more closely. Then YouTube played this and now I'm hooked:
Beethoven again. Hmm. I can't seem to get enough of him.

2:25 AM
@Jolenealaska Will listen.
Do you also like his cello sonatas?
Perhaps my favourite cello piece.

Will listen! :)

This is just the first movement; the others are also great.
It begins with the theme of the entire sonata; from then on, you will hear how he returns time and again to the theme.
Weaving and meandering around until he gets there again every time.

I don't know.

I want you to see that if you can. I'm watching it right now.
Not to necessarily watch it now. But I love love the way it's filmed.
mesmerizing

2:31 AM
OK!
I'll put in a tab for tomorrow.
God, that sonata badly triggers my ASMR.

Now I'm watching the cello piece. I'm gobsmacked. Gorgeous.

The second movement is actually the greatest. But better listen to the movements in order.

@Cerberus yes!

People touching their piano with their fingers.

Funny you should mention that.
You made me all atingle, Cerby! :)

2:37 AM
Yay!
You often get the ASMR tingles?

Yes, and they've always been a kind of big thing to me.

Yay.
I find that ASMR videos blunt me temporarily: I can't get the tingles as intensely for a while afterwards.
By the way, are you synaesthetic?
Do you associate letters/numbers/etc. with colours?

@Cerberus They helped pass the time in the early bad school. When I was like 7-10. I'd intensely focus on trying bring them on.

How do you do that?

@Cerberus I have experienced sensations that seem to be that. They are not a typical occurrence for me. At least not yet.

2:43 AM
OK.

@Cerberus I'd see the way a student was touching the paper with his pen, or her hair with her fingers. I'd focus on it kind of like they were touching me instead of the paper or hair or whatever. But nothing sexy about it. It was just about the tingles.
And I'd relax into it.
And time would pass.
I still pass time that way sometimes.

@Jolenealaska I suppose that could work!
I'll try that next time I'm sitting somewhere bored.

What kind of chutzpah must a kid have to see a double bass for the first time and think, "I'm gonna play that!"?

3 hours later…
7:57 AM
@Jolenealaska I don't know why I didn't link this one in the first place :P We studied this in school. A couple of years later, I was in an orchestra that played this (same orchestra that did the Sibelius actually :D but a different soloist)

Nice! I love that we keep running into each other.

'Cause Beethoven is amazing
:D

The cello piece Cerby posted just after that is phenomenal too.

Yeah, it is :D (and I don't think I've heard it before?) but I can't say I'm surprised 'cause Beethoven

8:35 AM
Oh yay! I'm on a free trial of YouTube premium which I will never pay for. And my ISP gave everyone a plan upgrade for the time being. So I can download ALL the videos!
Have you seen this one yet?
I was two months old and in Germany when that was filmed.
I love the way they filmed it.

9:00 AM
I have burned through more data in the last 3 days than was my monthly quota only just over a year ago.

9:19 AM
lol
:D
(that's just my use - I run my stuff through a router I built myself )

@rumtscho - I flagged cooking.stackexchange.com/questions/107799/… with a comment, which I guess I really should have brought up on meta instead. I've rectified that & retracted the flag [idk if anyone saw it before that] So I instead raised it on Meta for opinions...

Q: How does Seasoned Advice categorise 'basic customer support' questions & how to handle them?

TetsujinMy Stack Exchange background is really on the 'computing' sites, Ask Different & Super User. I'm aware that different stacks have different requirements for off-topic, but searching Meta here for 'customer support' brings no results, so I'm wondering if it's even been touched upon as a subject. ...

2:05 PM
@Jolenealaska Ha! I've been so busy today, I'm only just getting lunch now (at 3pm). In an hour, I have my fourth meeting of the day

2:22 PM
hi @Tetsujin, thank you for posting on Meta about that
historically, that's a kind of question we take, this one was even a duplicate
it's also quite rare, so I get that it is surprising to see one of those
the scope of Stack Exchange site does change over time, and Meta is exactly the right way to check if something should still be on topic or not

@Tetsujin saw it, was going to suggest a Meta post. Thanks for doing it without prompting!

ah, interesting, I now found one of the older discussions on the topic

Q: What types of equipment questions are allowed?

AaronutI want to ask a question about kitchen equipment, which is listed as on-topic in the main FAQ. However, I noticed a few equipment questions being closed as off-topic. How do I know if I my (equipment-related) question is on topic or not?

it looks kinda more like Aaronut planned to exclude the "stuck beater" kind of quesiton, but such questions were not regularly closed when he was a mod
as a background explanation, Aaronut was the most active of the first "batch" of moderators on the site, and has defined a lot of or scope, plus some scope for other sites, e.g. the ban on meta-tags. When I became a mod, I was basically looking up to what he'd do :)

2:41 PM
@Stephie Yes - I raised the flag then thought better of it. Tough to have a discussion on a form where the only real responses are 'helpful' or 'declined' ;) So I moved it as a more prepared thought-process into Meta. I have to admit I hadn't thought to search the 'equipment' tag for this, I just went with 'customer support'. Glad for any discussion/idea/recommendations it raises, though.

I think it’s time we have that discussion.

we're always glad that there are users who care enough to have this kind of discussion!

<off for now, though>

@rumtscho Makes perfect sense. I'm coming very late to Seasoned advice, compared to the time I've spent on Ask Different, so I guessed there would be different approaches & just wanted to clarify.
I'll give everybody time to have a think - i doubt it's going to be completely sorted out in five minutes flat - but I'm keen to hear everyone's thoughts on it.

I hope very much that there will be non-moderators answering
Our supposed role is to only apply the rules as written
of course, a rule is never 100% strict, so we also kinda try to rely on what interpretation is established already
but since we are humans, our opinions tend to unnoticeably color our decisions
and these decisions become precedents in their own right at some point
so, it is good that people who don't yield a hammer participate in the scope-setting process, and explicitly

@Jolenealaska that pizz! :O so clear! This is the 'I/we love Beethoven' movement :P
