Q: Symbol on Shiva linga

Laksh RamlThere’s a triangle similar symbol on most of shiva Lingam’s. What does the symbol represent. Can anyone explain please?

@souparnomajumder May be I should rephrase; I am not mentally prepared for that.

ok, i get that

Acharya says, Tantra is like a fire, one must be mentally prepared to jump into that.

Which all texts you have read already?
Also if you're online from computer, you can check the chatroom website we created recently. It's there in room info at the right top.

I completely agree with that statement, it's not a fire to keep one warm, rather one jumps into it
do you know what kapalini is?

No, I don't.

6:46 PM
how much have you read/finished the shiva sutra?

I finished it. I am reading Spandakarika these days.
Do you want me to share one verse from that?
> न हीच्छानोदनस्यायं प्रेरकत्वेन वर्तते।
अपि त्वात्मबलस्पर्शात्पुरुषस्तत्समो भवेत् ॥८॥
> Na hicchânodanasyayam prerakstvena vartate Api tvatmabalasparsat puruşastatsamo bhavet//8.
"The empirical individual cannot drive the goad of desire. Bet by coming in contact with the power of the Self, he becomes equal to that principle."
Spandakarika Section I Verse 8

saying that it is excellent or wonderful will be dishonest, i guess, all i can say is that, it is the truth.
you really read a lot
have you read raja yoga?

No! But I think our one of the moderator @Pandya has read that.
You didn't tell which all text you read? @souparnomajumder

I was maily reading the sankhya, the advaita vedanta, and the raja yoga
the yoga kundalini upanishad
and patanjali yoga sutra
from the tantrik texts: bigyan bhairava tantra, the mahanirvan tantra and the tantra sara by kishnanda agambagis

Oh you already read VijyanBharava Tantra
Nice
Are you interested in Tantrik mArga?
Because I see you posting questions related to that.

yes, after a through research on myself, I am definite thats the fire i want to dive into.

If you are interested to explore questions on Tantra on HSE, You might want to check Rickross's answers
He has great knowledge

7:19 PM
I appriciate that a lot
if you are interested in tantra, which person you find interesting
?

person? as in Acharya from ancient time?

it could be any one?
not al great men were acharyas

I really am impressed by Acharya Utpaladeva and his devotional work for Lord Shiva
He is from the lineage of Kashmiri Shaivism

hmm, you are a shaiva i see
i understood that you are interested in shaivasm the moment you mentioned shiva sutra

:)
Who is your ishta?

7:24 PM
give it a guss
*guess

Devi kAli ?

What can i say, nothing i am able to perceive is beyond her

I have got one beautiful picture of mother kAli.

post it

7:29 PM
love that, she really looks beautiful

Indeed :)

but this is probably not kali, her forehead marking, this is probably a female form of shiva

This is fan made painting of devi kAli
So he may have missed her attributes
Check this beautiful hymn written by Acharya Shree Utpaladeva:
> स्वेच्छयैव भगवन्निजमार्गे
कारितः पदमहं प्रभुणैव ।
तत्कथं जनवदेव चरामि
त्वत्पदोचितमवैमि न किंचित्॥
> "I have never told You to put me on the roadside, on the path of Your abode, Your spiritual abode. I never told You . I never asked You to carry me on the path of Yours. You have done it Yourself! You have put me on the path and now You are refusing to appear."
> "If I have been kept and carried on the path of Thine, why do I act like ordinary, worldly people? Why don’t I sink in that glamour of Thine glory, filled with consciousness and all bliss?"

thank you for sharing these beautiful compositions, i am overwhelmed
