7:34 AM
Hokie Dokie Lokie
Back I am, ready to annoy you all for another day.

7:46 AM
@Yuuki if you meant my message above (the one by SPArcheologist, my SharePoint.SE account) it was. Actually, it was just surprise - surprise that one may notice that given the opportunity people wouldn't never have pressed the "prank me" button but won't recognize it as a signal that the joke may be bad and harmful for people. I know I may have sounded a little annoyed, but I fear I kinda.. was yesterday. Will probably delete it later.
@BESW just a little thing about the prank design you may haven't noticed yesterday. The design actually contained fake "broken url" images (it was intentional).

So, apparently, wrong image path were a '90s design thing, not an error done by something that is just learning web design. Because we all know that joke wasn't about people.

8:03 AM
also, unrelated, Castle Cats joined the April Fool celebration yesterday and this was the result.
For a day, all the cats had mustaches (notice: each cat got a random mustache. Sadly, you can't really enjoy the variety in the screenshot above)
Atlas, was "mostly harmless".

1 hour later…
9:26 AM
oh @#$#$ I completely forgot about this April fools thing and I almost freaked the hell out when I checked my rep from one of my only non RPG answers
jeeeeezzzz
I can't believe it's still messing with the normal background

10:05 AM
@trogdor obviously, we were not worthy the risk of ruining the prank by making it opt-in.

yes all to the prank lords
give your dignity to them, prank is love, prank is life

someday people will realize the difference between laughing with someone and laughing at someone.
...I have been browsing some "April Fool 2019 jokes" lists
at least some sites got it right and actually went for mostly harmless jokes
see for example the Logitech site...
> An important biological fact has been brought to our attention. Mice have tails, hamsters don’t. We’ve decided to act accordingly. Starting today, we are rebranding all Logitech wireless mice as Logitech hamsters.
an example of a simple joke that probably will make you smile and not annoy you.

10:45 AM
lol
I mean,... someone might get mad about that
but it's pretty much mostly harmless

@trogdor Every joke probably has a risk.

yeah
exactly

But some have a lower risk than others....
At least the Discord staff recognized the prank they did was a bad idea and removed it

yeah
and I use dark on it
so I didn't even get annoyed by it
plus I was in April 1st modes so I knew it would be back even if I wanted to use it
but like
some people are using that mode,... because it hurts their eyes less or they can only see it that way or,.... whatever reason it happens to be
don't actually take that away for a day :/
I think it was miniman who said it, but someone thought it was a "you use dark so we told you we took light away" thing
that would have been waaaay better
if you are gonna do that,....don't take the mode away, just tell people it's gone for a day and they can actually still turn it on if they look for it
still better not to do it but it's less,... bad that way anyway

@trogdor I know, saw you discussing about it before. Anyway, I am still happy that they did revert the change and apologized.

10:53 AM
yeah
that's a step above not apologizing about it

@trogdor or accusing your users of hating you

urgh

A: What actions have been taken after the data leak reported on Feb 5 2019?

Tim PostI'm feeling a whole lot of hate here. I'm not speaking metaphorically. I honestly feel like you and other people in comments really loathe and hate me. And not just the company, me in particular. That's how I feel, and I can only suggest you think about how vehemently you bang on text boxes goin...

Please notice, I am not angry at Tim either.
It went thru a lot of harm.
From what I understood, he even received personal threats in his email (but please take this info with a grain of salt, never confirmed it)
So I am fully aware he probably wrote that post while he was angry, stressed and felling really bad

mmm
I mean,... I can't really comment on this too much
I don't know where he was coming from on that, and I am not going to read all those comments to see if they were all horrible
but,... the question doesn't look like hate to me
it looks like anger over a personal data breach that is actually being tempered pretty well
and he specifically mentions the poster AND the comments

I am not angry for that. People do mistakes, people do errors. The problem is that the thing is still there a lot of time after, and taken out of context it only aggravates the increasing distance between the staff and its users.

11:03 AM
but yeah I mean,... if I was getting a lot of negative attention I would lash out
it's a simple easy response that you can't always help in really horrible situations

I know, that is why I am not angry at him. I am just sad that they didn't try to rebuild the bridges with the community.
I don't know when it started. Personally, I started noticing it after the April's "Twitter Incident" but probably it was already lingering before that.
What is clear to me is that right now the community is broken
Some really loathe the staff decisions. And the staff apparently doesn't tolerate some of the users very well.
And instead of trying to solve that, everyone seems to be running in a race to be "the welcomingnest of them all"

The demo is actually playable (choose Gehn or Atrus!), and includes a hidden machine gun that shoots traffic cones, which is an URU joke.
There are even ads for "One simple trick Gehn doesn't want you to know" and "WHARKNADO."

11:26 AM
the usual April Fools rfc documents were pretty funny too...
See the Hypertext Jeopardy Protocol for example (you send the response to the server, the server sends you the request afterward).
obviously, they won't make a lot of sense to people that don't work in the field though.

12:19 PM
@trogdor gone.
the layout is no more.
... you can keep the cookies as a memento. Just try to eat them before they expire in about two days.

1 hour later…
1:40 PM
3 messages moved from RPG General Chat

2:14 PM
@doppelgreener the messages were moved. Let the rolling continue.

Very good, yes.

In the meantime, somewhere in Europe.... copyright.
We published a report about #glyphosate, written by a Federal institute. Now the Federal Government forces us to take it down – because of copyright. But you can help us: Request your own copy of the report! https://fragdenstaat.de/en/action/copyright-censorship/

oh, and by the way....
I know that this was an April Fools joke, but I have ADHD. When Stack Overflow is full of distractions, it makes it really hard for me to get my work done. I just had to exit off a page because it was overwhelming me. And yes, I am medicated. This is an accessibility issue.

4:43 PM
inb4 "we feel attacked by the overwhelming reaction towards our well-intentioned joke"

4 hours later…
8:36 PM
@Yuuki Nah, it's Twitter. Inb4 "we're sorry, this was inappropriate and it won't happen again" :P

> happens again

9:05 PM
@Derpy ah good
@Derpy XD
