The above was clear case of copy pasting, but even if you write it yourself and follow the guidelines, it almost looks like wikipedia. The guidlelines are: "name" "(year)" "country" "genre" "director / producer" "actors / actresses" "roles" ("summary"), which almost looks exactly like wikipedia. Often, the only difference is that there the year is not in parentheses.

1:47 PM
@NapoleonWilson ouch

@Jenayah he was joking I guess

@AnneDaunted Yeah, it can be quite difficult. You seem to manage it well usually, though.
I tend to simply not look at Wikipedia other for the actual information, often just the year, and try to come up entirely with my own description. I usually don't inlcude actors or directors anyway.

including actors or directors is not of great need to tag wikki for me

@NapoleonWilson Thanks! It's doesn't always seem possible though. Sometimes I give up. E. g. I started one for The Interview but aborted it. I saw the movie, so I can summarize its content without imdb or wikipedia, but I looked at their summaries and wondered how I could formulate it differently. Didn't manage to.
@NapoleonWilson The idea is not bad, but what if you wrote it yourself and it still looks like wikipedia, even without looking at it. There are often not so many ways to summarize the content in one sentence. Even if one or two expressions are different, someone may believe you copied from there.

@AnneDaunted See, that's what I mean. Sometimes it can be counter-productive to even look at these pre-made summaries, since they then tend to preclude what you would have written and you start to think in terms of "how can I be explicitly different". Whereas if you had just written it yourself, the chances of coming up exactly with Wikipedia's summar would be rather low.

1:53 PM
@NapoleonWilson agreed

@AnneDaunted I'd think the practical chances for that are low, though.

@NapoleonWilson Okay, I will try it out. Maybe check wikipedia afterwards, to see if it matches too closely.

ON the second note no Aquaman nomination :(
> “Kelvin, you and your department are the unsung heroes of this film. The fact that your VFX peers in the Academy aren’t recognizing or appreciating what we/you’ve all contributed to the film and cinema is a fucking disgrace.” - Wan

Oh, cool. I can write up my usual challenge proposal then.

So you don't want to bitch about the nomination ;)

Well, I haven't even looked at it yet.
But...I doubt I've seen much from it anyway.
Oh, the effin' Black Panther, of course!

From best film listt I have seen only Black Panther

Wanna have one of these MCU things for the Best Picture? Make it generate diversity fuss!

3:37 PM
Now I have to think how many films even released in 2018
But Aquaman not even getting nomination is bad
And who really care for Mary Poppins to be nominated O.o why it's there
Too Disneyish

@AnkitSharma For what? It's a run-of-the-mill blockbuster.

Oscar lacks in brown skin winners

Q: What is a negative pressure test and why did it give the results it did?

Kake_FiskIn the movie Deepwater Horizon they conducted a negative pressure test to see whether or not it would be safe to drill. But I cannot recall them explaining what such a test actually does or what it means. So my question is what is a negative pressure test and why did it seem like everything was o...

However, the Production Design and Score nominations for Black Panther seem justified. That film did have an interesting design. While it's naturally the same sleek near-future look of any MCU film, the Afrofuturism aspects were quite compelling. And the soundtrack was quite unique, especially for an MCU film, whose soundtracks generally tend to blend into one for me.

4:03 PM
In fact, I really hope it wins Best Score. While I haven't seen the other ones, that was an absolute highlight in recent times, soundtrack-wise.

A: Weekly Topic Challenge - Ideas

So like we did last year I would yet again use this event, as...

Though, Desplat is nominated too, for a Wes Anderson film even, so...he might sack that as well.

I do not know if this has been so for a while, but none the identification questions I saw being posted have the tag. I mean, you can still use the tags. Does it not occur to people that these tags exist or do they see them (and the warning to not use them) - then why still post anyway? This is puzzling.

@AnneDaunted You can't. If you try, an error pops up.

@NapoleonWilson can't disagree

@NapoleonWilson Oh, I didn't know that such a mechanism exists. So it's possible they get that warning and just use a different tag. Weird.

What should happen is that people see the tag, try to use it and then look at the tag wiki and/or the error to notice the questions aren't supported. But even back when we did people occasionally didn't use them. Not everyone gets the SE tagging system immediately.
It's probably not too intuitive for people unknown to the site to even think of the word "identif..." let alone put it into the tagging line. So...they probably just choose the next best, like the most used one (), or or .

A J
@AnkitSharma They finally caught the culprit.

4:41 PM
@AJ ohhh good

True, sometimes people really use random tags.

A J
@AnkitSharma It was a person who they lend some money to. He does a job in finance and wasn't returning the money after being asked for several times.

@AnneDaunted specially new user

I'd have to check, though, if it still pops up as one of the first suggestions, since it should still be among the top used tags with about 1,000 remaining questions. Unless the blacklsting system somehow makes it not show up.

I have seen new user having 5 tags in question but all wrong even when the right one exists

A J
4:44 PM
I wonder if I had ever used all five tags even as a new user.

No, it's still in the normal order, so it pops up among the first results when typing any of its letters, including "mov...".

@NapoleonWilson is the 4th suggestion when asking a new question and entering i or m.

@AJ did you figure out any other ToW question?

Roma is a 2018 Mexican drama film written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón, who also produced, co-edited and shot the film. A co-production of Mexico and the United States, it stars Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira. Set in 1970 and 1971, the film is a semi-autobiographical take on Cuarón's upbringing in Mexico City, and follows the life of a live-in housekeeper to a middle-class family. The title refers to Colonia Roma, a neighborhood in the city.Roma had its world premiere at the 75th Venice International Film Festival on 30 August 2018, where it won the Golden Lion. It began a limited theatrical...
