@DavidCoffron Working on it. (Literally--that's close to a product I'm writing on another desktop.)

@Anaphory Danger Patrol Pocket is my go-to there. (www.dangerpatrol.com)

@Anaphory Everybody else's suggestions are great. Also: Honey Heist, Cthulhu Dark, (Lady Blackbird sorta counts, it's basically one page per player), and Lasers & Feelings (and its spinoffs like Scrolls & Swords).

I mean, if you want to get technical about it, Dungeon World's basic move reference fits on one sheet of paper and your character sheet is one or two more.
World of Dungeons is a rules back and a character + level chart front if you drop the list of names.
Ah, here's a fun one. i am killbot is a friend's AW hack what I condensed to one page to run at a con. t2m.io/3mGutfBG

There's a LOT of one-page RPGs on DTRPG.

I don't understand this. Page 186 of PH, Crafting, is able to produce items by an increment of 5 gp per day. Page 126 of DMG, Crafting a Magic Item, is able to produce items by an increment of 25 gp per day. Page 129 of XGE, Crafting an Item, (even magical) is able to produce items by an increment of 50 gp per week (7 gp, 1 sp and 4 cp per day). So... which is the right value?

3:13 AM
@EnderLook :XGE changed the crafting rules (XGE's downtime rules are optional variants). If not using XGE, use PH for non-magic items, DMG for magic ones

@EnderLook the problem you're having with the XGE number is that you're dividing it by 7 not 10 -- the FR notion of "week" is actually a tenday, not our Earthling weeks

@Shalvenay What? A week in D&D has 10 days? What is FR?
@DavidCoffron So XGE (which is a variant book) overwrite the PH rules if you choose to use it, right?

@EnderLook FR is short for the Forgotten Realms -- it's generally assumed to be the "default" setting in D&D 5e unless another one is stated explicitly, AIUI

@Shalvenay Ahh, I didn't know that Forgotten Realms has 10 days per week. Thanks.

@EnderLook it's something that doesn't come up very often outside the context of persistent-world play

3:52 AM
Are there effect durations that are different lengths depending on the setting's definition of "week"?
I had thought that FR had tendays instead of weeks, so that the term "week" wouldn't actually be meaningful there.

@PeterCooperJr. I don't believe so

Though it looks like there are usages of "week" even in published FR adventures like Storm King's Thunder & Princes of the Apocalypse

very interesting

I don't know if that means that the terms are used interchangeably, or if that means that errors sometimes slip through editing.

@PeterCooperJr. There's a magic item or two that require a week between usages, I think?
I always assumed it was 7 days, since the word for the 10-day duration exists: "tenday."

4:01 AM
There's an FR Wiki Page that says that the terms are interchangeable, for whatever that's worth.
@nitsua60 The only magic item matches for "week" in D&D beyond are a Scribe's Pen from Eberron (which I don't have, but I assume uses a different calendar) and crafting a "Master’s Amulet" from the monster entry for Shield Guardian.

@PeterCooperJr. There's a magic boulder in SKT, IIRC, with a 1-week recharge.
(But I'm afb, so I can't check.)

4:37 AM
@nitsua60 Not that I recall (though I haven't read much past Ch. 5), and I don't see anything like that in the dndbeyond search (though I am perhaps assuming too much that the search works well even when not having an account)

Aw. Somebody pulled down a Dungeon World question about making custom moves. I was all excited to answer too.

These She-Ra character sheets for Fate Accelerated and 5e are inspired. https://dangerousdice.tumblr.com/post/180284240964/for-the-honor-of-greyskull-she-ra-character

DMsGuild is having a Black Friday sale: https://www.dmsguild.com/blackfriday.php
33% off digital downloads of selected titles. It's going until 10 am Tuesday, if my math is right (3 days and 7 hours from now).
Includes some official 5e stuff by WotC like the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron, the Tortle Package, and One Grung Above - as well as a bunch of AL adventures.
DriveThruRPG and the other sister sites also have their own sale pages

@Shalvenay Fun fact. My players are used to play in the FR, but we're playing in Golarion this time. When I mentioned that Golarion has weeks, the phylosopher in the group asked "so they have a 7-day creation myth? Do they also worship Christ?" - I saw what he did there... and I went with lunar cycles instead ;)

@Zachiel :P

7:59 PM
@Zachiel Well, 7-day week does quite demonstrably predate Christianity, but I'm tempted to go with "you're overthinking it"

Q: Moderator edits of user posts

DaveC426913Granted, I'm new to the RPG section, but I'm a long-time member of Stack Exchange. Don't want to cause a fuss, just want to understand the ground rules. I'm a little surprised that my opening post was edited by a mod. I've seen posts moved or held for a request to edit, but never a direct edit o...

8:39 PM
@kviiri I'd say you're underthinking it. =P
@kviiri (and that pointing out that 7-day weeks predate christianity is a pretty good response for that kind of observation)

@Xirema Well, kinda. Because it just invites reiterating the point, except using the Judaist creation myth.

9:33 PM
I think I've become a bad case of "my guy syndrome"...

9:43 PM
I'm sorry to hear that. Do you think it's treatable?

@Glazius I... I don't know. All the symptoms point to a no.
Basically, I want to play my character in a west-marches kind of game, but I can only find a lot of reasons not to be in places where other players are.

Isn't one of the common conceits of a West Marches type of game that all the characters are part of a common adventuring company or something?

10:00 PM
Well, my game is not really West Marches, but it has enough resemblances that I've learnt that describing it as West Marches is the best way to have people accept that there are a lot of players, often with conflicting goals.
In reality, it's an online game similar to a MUD or MUSH. It's a room=location -based play by chat where characters can be part of guilds but they don't need to. There, I have a high level, underequipped cleric with boots of teleportation who won't enter most towns because one spell he uses is againt the laws ot those cities.

10:30 PM
These are those cases where it's really hard to say who's actually causing it, the GM for instituting spell bans or your character for using the spell regardless

10:53 PM
@kviiri The idea is that I could just dismiss the spell and enter town - but this spell gives a boost to wisdom, which is my casting stat, and an often forgotten rule is that you lose spells whenever your casting stat decreases.
So every time I dismiss the spell I lose 4 random unspent spells -and- I'm not going to be able to use the extra Wis to get the extra spells on the following day.
As a player, I don't want that.
As a character, I have absolutely no idea but I guess losing wisdom is quite a nasty experience.

What is this spell that you can hold onto forever and cast better all the time?
I can see "but not in town" as an attempt at a balancing factor for something like that, but balancing mechanics with story has never really started, continued, or ended well.

@Glazius persistent greater visage of the deity
also, since the spell literally infuses me with the presence of the god I worship, I should roleplay accordingly. My game comrades care a lot about setting coherence and way less about being powerful.

11:13 PM
A 15th level spell, somehow?
I think at that point you've transcended conventional notions of life and death.

@Glazius I use divine metamagic to cast it as a 9th level spell

Yeah, you've pretty much set yourself up to sit in your hermitage and contemplate the divine until the end of days. What's left to accomplish?

@Glazius playing with other players

11:36 PM
Also, pretty much everything since my character has no initiative and can't get anything done.

Ah, you created them at L17?

@Glazius I created him at level 8, then played him up to level 12, then leveled it up all at once to level 17 and now I'm at 20. We also gain some XP just by playing, 2000 posts for a level.

11:53 PM
Sounds like you reached the end of their arc.

@Glazius Have I ever had an arc? I'm bad at this thing. I usually just want to create a character that keeps going and going and going and be some relevant part of the world, but I'm actually too lazy to delve into guild management and too attached to fictional gold to build a castle
And so I'm here, with almost 4 millons of unspent gold, refusing to spend any of it unless I can spend it on epic items, well knowing that I will never get epic if I don't equip for level 20.
Right now I fear that, whatever character I could make instead of this one, it will be at the end of its arc too.
