@Pandya @TheDestroyer - I think the above question is somewhat different ,the OP also wants to know what makes Kashi special apart from vedic ref. I am preparing the other remaining answer. And I think we can reopen this question again as it's not completely same 🙂

@SwiftPushkar Yes. I think Title can be edited to make it related to body of question.

@SwiftPushkar Scriptures includes Vedas, puranas etc., . Asking references is what the OP is asking. That should be totally removed and your answer should be edited completely if we have to reopen it.

@NogShine Yes , you are correct , but i posted the answer with point of view of answering the question "what makes kashi special" and i am preparing that , this is just a partial answer. :-)

There are many references of Varanasi in the scriptures so that the question becomes too broad :P

@SwiftPushkar Another problem with these questions is some users post everything as "Vedic", from the "Vedas" eventhough the importance is not at all mentioned in the Vedas. ,
