Can you rephrase as: "What are likely reactions to expect if I do X in relation to person Y in situation Z?" That is how I read your question, and for me that is a sort of theory-of-mind, learning to empathize with someone who has anxiety situation. (Not 100% sure if that kind of question is acceptable here, but it seems it should be.) For the record, that sounds like a sweet gift, especially if she has a corny sense of humor. :) — cactus_pardner 1 min ago

@Clay07g People often recommend lying when revealing the truth would be counter to the objective trying to be achieved. Whether you agree with that or not is your call, but the answers are addressing the question. It's a tacit "You can't be honest and not offend people with this stance" — Magisch 49 secs ago

@LTOrtega So your side consists of nothing but "truths" and you refuse to discuss it with people different than you because they might disagree? Wait, who won't leave their comfort zone again? — Clay07g 58 secs ago

I was going to say that I didn’t understand how a fairly good answer like this got so many downvotes, but then I saw the rollback. — Obie 2.0 6 secs ago

Thanks very much for your answer (I wish I could upvote it several times more). Sending you virtual hugs from over here :). Thanks for not being overly defensive and willing to listen/learn. Clearly, you have walked a path off the beaten trail that few have cared/dared to. For what it's worth, I'll have no problems whatsoever, dicsussing issues of race with someone who has made the effort to educate themselves, and is willing to listen and learn - as you clearly have! — u_r_grounded 29 secs ago

You say that your coworkers are concerned about your eating habits, yet you also say that a coworker brought in a vegetable dip to accommodate your light appetite. So it sounds like at least some your coworkers try to support you (even if they don't always do what you wanted) — Johnny 1 min ago
