@XtremeBaumer Well, telling the teacher what you just wrote can (should) also result in trouble for him. I'm assuming this project is supposed to be a simulation of the working life you'll all soon have to face. Not delivering on time and not collaborating with colleagues are usually big no-nos for an employee. But then I've seen lazy teachers and project managers who avoided conflict about such issues at all costs (and got shitty projects in return). Do you have an idea what the teacher's stance would be if you told them? — AllTheKingsHorses 19 secs ago

@ab2 I'm impressed with your confidence that you can control a conversation between you and someone you disagree with. — Lord Farquaad 1 min ago

I don't agree with this answer because it suggests that looking at a speaker's mouth is somehow abnormal. It's not. That's just how conversation works for some people. If someone commented on me looking at their mouth while they're speaking, I would be very put off. — sgroves 17 secs ago

+1 for "it helps to know the motivation behind the comments" but OP probably wants to be more direct and ask: "what are you trying to achieve by saying that". This forces the relatives to think about the purpose of their remarks. They will likely realize that the answer is inconvenient ("we want to tell you how to live your life" or "we just wanted to make you feel bad" or "we are jealous because our house is messy") or — user31389 1 min ago

The short answer is that you can't. I'd say this is normal behaviour and you shouldn't worry about it. — WhatEvil 1 min ago

Just to add a note, in my case i don't have APD but an audition loss (70% phonetic loss) on the left side and I too look at the mouth of whoever is talking to me like in case 1. I guess this is common in a wide range of hearing issues, so +1 for pointing for some issue or disorder. — JordiVilaplana 50 secs ago

That sounds like a perfect textbook example of a Potential Trouble Source. I recommend you take the Scientology course on "The Cause of Suppression"—it's online and it's free. The video at the link gives a good introduction to the concept. — Wildcard 1 min ago
