Anybody here play Geometry Dash?
The community is pretty toxic, but the game itself is fairly fun

2 hours later…
8:21 AM
@EsolangingFruit apparently I've got 3.7 hours on record, but I have no recollection of whether I liked it

5 hours later…
1:06 PM
Just finished The Witcher (1). Took 45 hours. I mostly played it in preparation for the rest of the trilogy. The game felt pretty rough around the edges, with fairly clunky controls and often mediocre voice acting, but the story, lore, worldbuilding and also many of the quests were actually really good. So I guess I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the full trilogy for story purposes, but on its own, in terms of game mechanics and controls, is not exactly outstanding.
Hm, that sounds worse than I meant it. I did really enjoy playing it, but not because of the actual game mechanics. They weren't actually frustrating (though occasionally close), just not particularly good.

1:55 PM
Also it had a pretty cool plot twist in the end, although I think the main reason it's so cool is because it wasn't actually made explicit, but just implied. (Apparently it was never even confirmed until some random in-world text in The Witcher 3.)

4 hours later…
6:22 PM
@EsolangingFruit Yeah. Haven't cleared any demons but cleared the rest of the default levels.

7:04 PM
So I tried out Hyper Light Drifter last night and holy cow could I not get into it. I gave it a solid half hour, maybe 45 minutes, and just couldn't. There's practically no story (it's told through a dialogue-less cutscene that leaves more questions than it answers) and thus no immediate hook. I have no idea who I am, what I'm doing, where I'm supposed to go, etc. I can say the mechanics seemed kinda neat, but without a narrative to pull it together, just no.

That's sad. It looks really cool

It does look really cool. The art style is really well done, as is the music.

The art makes me think it has a cool story

It's also 2.5D, like a SNES Zelda game, rather than side-scroller Metroidvania style, which threw me for a loop, too.

1 hour later…
8:17 PM
@DJMcMayhem why haven't you competed in that challenge yet?

Mostly because of school (and video games)
I hope too though

@DJMcMayhem You devil! Kerbal yet :P?

Haha, not yet.
But since I just launched a rocket in Factorio (last night actually), that might convince me to go for it

@DJMcMayhem YOU WHAT? In a real survival mode?
@DJMcMayhem I automated the blue researches and the grey military ones then gave up on Factorio because I have no friends who will buy.

No, it was peaceful. I found the biter attacks took away from my enjoyment of the game, especially since I was trying to figure out everything and they just added stress.
If I start a new world, I'll probably go a little bit more combat focused

8:20 PM
@DJMcMayhem Ahhh... yeah, they're fun to a point; but they literally become the game if you let them haha.
@DJMcMayhem I always wanted to see what nukes do, never got there though.

If you wanna hop on my world, I could show you
I have them researched but I've never used them either
14 messages moved from The Nineteenth Byte
@MagicOctopusUrn New headcanon: Since I got to a point in Factorio where I can launch rockets, now I'll switch to Kerbal and call it the same universe XD

Next stop, the Mun?

@DJMcMayhem Shoot, I'm way behind. :P

Haha
TBF, I've put 123 hours into it
That particular save was 60

I have 100ish too
Oh wow, no I only have 55 hours in it.
I'm a scrub, at factorio, nevermind.

8:37 PM
I was racking up a lot of hours then I got Tametsi...

I still haven't played that T_T
I promised I would, and I still have yet to.

I'm a scrub, period. I play so little. Too bad this doesn't show my Blizzard games. I have 67 hours playing just as Tracer in Overwatch. steamcommunity.com/id/AdmBorkBork/games/?tab=all

@AdmBorkBork If my xbox profile for Ark or Smite was shown people would wonder how I'm alive.
@AdmBorkBork I think I'm up to 42 days on smite and 3 years ago I was alpha for 4 months and lost like 20 days of my life to ARK.

Jeez. How are you alive?
I suppose that's similar to my time in Team Fortress Classic back in college. I probably played 30+ hours per week on that.

Then I ran an ARK server on PC and only spent a total of 100 hours and quit because instead of playing I was retrieving dinos "that fell into a volcano because of a glitch, please make me another".
Ran a SpaceEngineers server, stopped playing for same reason except this time it was because people kept crashing crap into peoples bases for fun...

8:40 PM
@DJMcMayhem nice job!

Man, I have like 18 days on my top 3 steam games
@NathanMerrill Thanks! Towards the end, I gave up and killed my science so that I could build the rocket without setting up a ton of new production
So that was kinda lazy

...er
I've got 26 days on my top steam day

I actually fell asleep while waiting for the rocket to build, so the alarm woke me up and scared the crap out of me lol

all of those parts take forever to build
I forget just how expensive rockets are

I think that's the point

8:47 PM
@DJMcMayhem something I didn't do my first time around is put productivity modules inside of the rocket launcher itself

Oh, that's genius
Why didn't I think of that?

those productivity modules are the most effective productivity modules in the entire game, paying themselves off many times with a single rocket

How many slots does it have?

er, 3 I think?

@NathanMerrill how TF did you get that much playtime out of terrerria?

8:48 PM
I'm not surprised at all. I have 100+ in Terraria

@MagicOctopusUrn I love that game. It's a game I just dig and explore

It's an awesome game

Also @NathanMerrill if you haven't rated Tametsi on the steam store I remember the owner needs reviews bad.

@MagicOctopusUrn How many?

600 hours

8:49 PM
Wow

its a mindless game for me, which leads to tons of hours

@NathanMerrill I didn't finish my thought either, "how TF have you got that many hours in terrerria and haven't played starbound?"

The most I have in any one steam game is Dota 2 at ~150

I've tried starbound

I don't play any one game for all that much, so I have a bunch that are up there

8:49 PM
@NathanMerrill The "build your own space station" is what sold me on it haha. Even though the biomes are basically recoloured clones...

I probably have several hundred in Rainbow Six Siege but I don't have it through Steam and IDK how to check on Uplay.

@Pavel You probably don't lmao.

but I didn't really enjoy the scifi theme, and the "building" aspect of both games has never really appealed to me

Terraria is way better than StarBound, but they're different games.

@MagicOctopusUrn I play rainbow six so much more than everything else

8:50 PM
I really can't say more than that, because I only tried Starbound for an hour
@Pavel dota is still my top game, even though I haven't played it in nearly a year

@MagicOctopusUrn Is 2 considrered Several? Just checked, 221 hours in Rainbow 6.

@NathanMerrill In terms of building starbound wins imo.

I know, which is why I never even tried

@NathanMerrill In terms of items, combat, interesting places, scary encounters and unique stuff; terreria, agreed.

so, in my very first game, I didn't really know what I was getting myself into with Terraria
and I was just digging away

8:53 PM
@DJMcMayhem I'm down to 2291 bytes with that loop improvement hah.

and there was this huge cavern, and it was so much fun to explore
and then...suddenly, I found this house
I was blown away

@NathanMerrill Did you do the "build a town" thing?

like, finding structures underground seriously hooked me the first time

Where you make houses for vendors to live in?

@MagicOctopusUrn many hours later, I was trying to figure out how to progress that I learned that this was possible

8:55 PM
That's what got me, I was always so pissed that there werent shops... Then I came back to my base one day, after building an addition onto my tiny hut, and some goblin farquad had moved in.
Well, randy moved into MY hut at first... that jerk...
Then I ended up building a sky base for 'em because they'd all get plowed during encounters lmao.
Haven't played since I unlocked all the guys for the house.
I used to just have like a 100-brick-long-8-brick-high-10-section-crap-hut but when the pirates came for the first time they opened doors and murdered everyone lol.

@MagicOctopusUrn Noice

You just build a vertical apartment building style, so that you can only navigate upwards with a grappling hook or similar.

My standard was to have a big rectangle but keep the bottom floor empty

@DJMcMayhem I didn't even know the hordes existed until like 40 hours in, was never above ground long.
My next playthrough I just got a ton of snow and tried to make clouds in the sky.
My clouds ended up boxy AF, but it was pretty much what I wanted I guess lol.
Has anyone else bought Kingdom Come:Deliverance?
I'm in love with it, but restarted the witcher and haven't gone back to finish it yet... 40 hours in though.

@MagicOctopusUrn that "goblin farquad" is my favorite shopkeeper :P

9:06 PM
The best thing I've seen in Kingdom Come Deliverance so far:
If there is a window in a house, and you're trying to lock-pick a box, the guards can still detect you by LOS (as they should be able to). However, if they DO catch you, it goes into a screen with them on the other side of the wall... "HALT, YOU HAVE BROKEN THE LAW!" Then, when I was like... okkay, yeahh, sure Mr. Wall and clicked "pay fine" the guard SHOT HORIZONTALLY THROUGH THE WALL. He then HIT THE OPPOSING WALL and died on impact.... Unfortunately another guard saw him die and charged me with that as well, ending my current s

ahahaha

I wanted other peoples opinions on the save mechanics though... because I swear to shit I've not been this careful with a game since "Rimworld - Hardcore Mode"

there's a great series online on rimworld (called fire and ice, I think). The ice one is the best because he starts off with a bunch of cannibals and lives off of the visitors

@NathanMerrill I HAVE PLAYED THIS WAY AND HOLY S*** IT IS THE MOST FUN I'VE EVER HAD EVER.

9:11 PM
@NathanMerrill I cheated a little and started with 5 people (the default tribe start) but gave them the traits: "Psychopath" and "Cannibal"

5 is a lot of people to feed

Huh. Rimworld looks interesting, I've never heard of it before

This meant that death of friends/family had no bearing on their well-being, they got boosts from killing and eating humans and also they could eat each other without caring.
@DJMcMayhem Warum?!?! Mochtest du mehr spass?!?!

Is looks sorta dwarf fortress/Oxygen not included?

yeah, very much so

9:12 PM
@MagicOctopusUrn Could you stop yelling?

@DJMcMayhem It's pretty much the only reason I liked ONI.

It's fun, and I've played maybe 50 or so hours on it?

@DJMcMayhem I could if the shock factor of not playing Rimworld was lower.

I get bored pretty fast though

@NathanMerrill Yeah... gotta admit, it's even like factorio in the aspect that you make plans and wait for the plans to finish.

9:14 PM
like, the base building is fun... but the random events don't really keep me interested

@NathanMerrill When's the last time you played it? You can caravan now. They did A LOT when removing it from Alpha.

Carvaning is moving to a new spot, right?

@NathanMerrill Nah, like send 1 dude with 4 loaded up muffalos to another settlement to sell goods at a premium price.
But also, they added a "max settlement" setting to the UI, which lets you send caravans to settle a second settlement.
Then again, the main game was built with the idea that you will only have one settlement, so alerts aren't as detailed.
As in if a blight happens in settlement #2, you won't know which settlement it was til you click into it.

hm. I've never done either of those

I've only managed a max of 3 settlements, and at that point you get random events so often that you really cannot manage more than 2x speed.
The cannibal aspect though really made random events stupidly fun haha.

9:17 PM
but either way, neither of that really solves the problem for me.
After building a house, there isn't much to do except research

@NathanMerrill Imo you really have to roleplay, care about the people. I had a dude I was transforming into a bionic man slowly.

and the available researches don't excite me
@MagicOctopusUrn yeah, exactly. I didn't :)

@NathanMerrill Have you modded yet? They have a ton of amazing mods.
@NathanMerrill There's a mod that lets you craft bionic body parts. I had that one for awhile and I just literally starting ripping parts off people for fun with my level 16 doctor.

Speaking of mods, does anyone have factorio mod recommendations?

@DJMcMayhem I keep telling myself "I'll beat it before I mod it" and don't know if that day will ever come...

9:18 PM
@DJMcMayhem Highly recommend bobs + angels
people say it all the time on the reddit, but it really is that good

@DJMcMayhem If ya ever wanna play Factorio with me on Survival I'm down. You may laugh at how inefficient my setups are though

its even more fun now with filtering belts

@NathanMerrill 2nd'd, I know nothing about mods, nor have I even attempted to research them... But I HAVE heard of this one.

the biggest issue with complexity mods is trying to figure out "how the heck do I get X"
or, in other cases "what the heck does this symbol represent"

@NathanMerrill Adding new parts which take other new parts to make is horrible... In Space Engineers it was a complete cluster**** once we started adding new parts.

9:20 PM
@NathanMerrill Huh. this one?
What exactly is it?

@DJMcMayhem its technically like 20 mods

@DJMcMayhem I'm pretty sure it's a community collection of mods. All voted upon and tested together for collision.

angels has made a bunch of mods, as well as bobs
they work really well together
the bob's mods overhaul the electronics and product manufacturing.

> I've launched rockets with Bob's and Angel's mods. It's not for the faint of heart. Makes the basic game seem trivial, like a baby's toy, by comparison. Default Factorio is pretty much the tutorial for Bob/Angel, which is where the REAL game is (at least, that's what if feels like after you beat them).
o_O

angel's mods overhaul the resources (so getting your base resources like iron and copper)

9:22 PM
Sweet
This sounds like a nightmare

well, I have a couple of recommendations

I don't like playing with bob's enemies, bob's weapons, or bob's inserters

Oh hey, Arumba did a series on bobs&angels

the first two is because I don't like combat, the latter is because his inserters are way too powerful

9:23 PM
I like the little bit of Arumba I've seen
@NathanMerrill How so?

@NathanMerrill What's the diff?

his inserters can go from any spot to any other spot (within a range)
yes, it takes research, but it solves way too many problems
and the research is way early

@NathanMerrill Errr... You mean... wha?

you click on an inserter, and it gives you a grid where you chose the "input location" and the "output location"

@NathanMerrill Like, I put inserter A at 0,0,0 and automation-machine B at 100000,100000,100000 and it can just throw it 5000 miles?

9:25 PM
no, the max range is 3
it starts at 1, then you research long inserters and you get 2, and then later on you get 3

@NathanMerrill Oh... still, yeah, that's overkill for a first play-through.
@NathanMerrill I will admit my second playthrough I was increasingly annoyed by not having long inserts for 4 hours.

@MagicOctopusUrn That would be hilarious though.

anyways, the other recommendation is to consider if you really want angel's oil processing. I personally enjoy it, but it easily adds the most complexity of any other mod piece

@El'endiaStarman Especially if it showed the animation. Your mining facility is 50 miles away. Your constructors just chilling on an iceberg in nomansland. If you ever try to look to the south-east it just shows what looks like a torrential rain of copper, iron and coal flying towards the constructors.
@NathanMerrill The oil processing was already a cluster**** of tubes on my end...

@NathanMerrill Did you play with bobs and angels at the same time?

9:28 PM
Mostly because I wanted automated flamethrowers, automated bombs, automated explosives, batteries, plastics, etc...

I saw some forums saying one or the other is good, both is too much

@DJMcMayhem Honestly, I think even the vanilla game on survival is too much alone.

bob's really isn't too much. Bob's adds more powerful stuff, and his tree is pretty shallow
playing with angels (with or without bob's) is tough
that said, angel's is my favorite one to play with

@NathanMerrill Just noticed: thenameipicked
Is a pretty epic username.

9:32 PM
thanks :)
you can likely guess my email as well :P

TheImmortalRod was... absolutely random on mine.
Got sick of getting DOX'd with my 18 year old SN, which is why I never give out my Xbox GT (5 characters)

this is really random, but people used to shorten it to TNIP, and then call me turnip

@NathanMerrill Getting called "Rod" was the most confusing experience of my life for a solid 4 months...
Always had me like this?
@NathanMerrill Turnip though... that's epic. Here people may read that as something like: "The Nineteenth Infinitesimal Partition" or something hah.

it was back in this game called The Continuum
...man, this is bringing back memories
it was a trading card game where your cards were enemies you'd put on a battlefield and play a tactics game against
I didn't really play the game that much, but I really enjoyed the community

@NathanMerrill I play Hearthstone and I'm "good" as in I don't use the "best premade guide of 201X"...
@NathanMerrill Sounds like me and Maplestory when I was like 14. Actually... I liked that game because of the hacking you could do lol. It was a 2D map and you could "vaccum" all monsters to any X,Y coord pretty easily with memory editors.

9:42 PM
the battlefield was a 2d grid, unlike in hearthstone

Jesus... Talk about memories...

the other game was one called nowhere else and beyond

I remember locking the values for HP and crap then vaccing all monsters to me and locking my current command as my best AoE skill then letting it sit overnight, auto leveling... I never lol'd more when I learned they wrote client-side C++ code into an MMORPG.

that was a browser 2D rpg you could make your own islands that people could explore and do quests in

@NathanMerrill That sounds pretty legit, what year was this?

9:43 PM
er...not sure. I actually got contacted a couple weeks ago to help with a rebuild of the site

@NathanMerrill I mean, ballpark it for me, we talkin' 2000? 2005? 2010? 2015? Now?

2010 ish is when I stopped playing
I don't know when it finally went down
the site went down several times because a bunch of hackers, and the site slowly lost users over time
and then it was no longer feasible to pay server costs

@NathanMerrill Heh... I never did any of the "stealing other peoples work" hacking, but I did love the "finding vulnerabilities in the code to make the game do something it shouldn't" type of game-hacking.
@NathanMerrill What was their hacking problem? Like did they get their DB dumped and accounts stolen orrr? Just like insecure mechanics in the game allowing people to do unwarranted crap?

this was the latter. The site was written in PHP, and I think it was his first big project

@NathanMerrill I regret making my first big project a job engine for an enterprise company... I feel like I could've made a killer game :(.

9:48 PM
I don't know all of the details, but I do know that there were some bugs that would allow you to go through quests too fast (meaning you could level up too fast), and other ones letting people gain admin/mod permissions
(all in-game admin permissions, not like DB access AFAIK)

@NathanMerrill Ooo... that's a game-killer.

yeah. and those bugs were patched, but it would take the game down with a bunch of people saying "what's happening" in the forums

I remember in the first 3 months when Runescape switched from RSC to RS2 we found a glitch that let you become a player moderator with a couple of quick queries to one of their WS screens. Me and my friend were pretty much instabanned...
"Oh look! 2 new playermods with no approvals, or notifications they should exist! Bye."
It was near instantaneous when we logged in. 16 year old me was pretty sad 'bout that one.

yeah. We also didn't have a huge playerbase, and so what would happen is that one of the players who feel they got wronged would find an exploit and take down the game

Regret finding that thread about the deconstructed JAR BS and how they inserted logic for logins into the JAR file in a way that was revealing...

9:51 PM
it was all very much tied up with politics/social stuff

@NathanMerrill Oof... That's brutal, vendetta is my biggest fear for releasing an external-facing website. I know for a fact if I release a website to the public that it WILL have problems. The question would be whether or not I'd make enough money before I pissed someone off enough to find a hole to make it a legal issue rather than a minor annoyance...
Link me up to it if it ever does come back up, you have me intrigued.
I used to love pen-testing games.
Especially anything PHP.

@MagicOctopusUrn will do. I don't think it will: The guy who now owns it...I'm not too convinced of his programming skills
I think he's come up with 10 different ideas, and none of them have really ...started

@NathanMerrill Ehhh... there's a line between skills and art, if his creativity match your ability in programming y'all would be a duo. I know that I'm like 50/50... I'm creative, but also can write horrific code...
@NathanMerrill God I'd kill for an idea man who actually could get me excited about something.
I have this RA coworker, he's smart for an RA, he's basically a mis-titled consultant. He'll rapid fire website ideas at me... He ranges from "company to handle all onboarding of new employees" to "DUDE WE COULD MAKE AN APP THAT FINDS YOUR SHOES."

well, they aren't legit ideas. Like, he's debated whether to rewrite it in NodeJS, or whether to keep the database or start fresh, and proposed a different "start" 10 different times

what's this

9:59 PM
I mean, I've done the same thing with some of my pet projects: They never finish
@ASCII-only an old game I used to play called Nowhere-else and beyond

@NathanMerrill this is the same for me too >_>
what kind of game is it

@NathanMerrill It's legitimately hard to finish anything without: Motivation, Genuine Interest and (though I hate to say it) Monetary Compensation.

RPG that had a great social scene, and the ability to build your own islands (with their own quests and puzzles)

graphical?

@NathanMerrill Then you see crap like "SHOWER WITH YOUR DAD SIMULATOR 2016" which sells 400,000 copies of a $0.99 game.

10:00 PM
2D tile-based, browser based

@MagicOctopusUrn it's not hard for me
@NathanMerrill O_o that sounds pretty impressive
@MagicOctopusUrn the problem for me is i hurt my brain too often >_>

@ASCII-only I'm INTP with ADHD, the definition of start without finishing according to Meyers-Briggs and my doctor anyhow...

@MagicOctopusUrn well the only project I'm actually still working on is Charcoal >_>
I even stopped working on VSL <_<

@ASCII-only WAIT YOU MADE CHARCOAL?!
@ASCII-only Idk why I still think Neil owns it...

@MagicOctopusUrn WAIT YOU DIDN"T KNOW WHAT
@MagicOctopusUrn because he's basically the only one that uses it >_>

10:03 PM
@ASCII-only I seriously think Neil has double the number of answers in it than you.
Obviously no offense meant, but no I did not xDDD.
I've always been regularly impressed by the random stuff it manages to do when you're like "haha this challenge doesn't use ASCII art, you'd be a fool to use Charc... WHAT 6 BYTES?!?!"

@MagicOctopusUrn you mean like 100 times?
@MagicOctopusUrn oops it's not here yet :/

Even 05AB1E tried to rip-off your language ahaha.

@MagicOctopusUrn Turns out dzaima basically manages to always do it better though <_<

@DJMcMayhem I forgot the mention, if you do plan on playing with Angel's, I highly recommend this or that

They're even making a second version of S.O.G.L. >_> how insane is that

10:06 PM
@ASCII-only Not really that insane tbh, he did great on SOGL and I can't believe nobody uses it.

@MagicOctopusUrn I'd totally use it if I ever bothered answering

@ASCII-only I honestly only answer when I'm at work and need to not do what the hell I'm supposed to be doing for 30 minutes to refocus my rage. Which is usually incited by someone re-asking me the same idiotic question for the 56th time...

@MagicOctopusUrn I use free time to 1. personalize my laptop with random things or 2. try to install PPCG-v2 so I can try to work on it or 3. work on another project that will probably get abandoned

@ASCII-only Laptop specs?
You have a DXDIAG?
Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1505M v5 @ 2.80GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
Memory: 32768MB RAM
^ My work laptop.

@MagicOctopusUrn m7 processor, gpu is intel 515 (i.e. crap) - it's basically a tablet with a keyboard
> Xeon
@MagicOctopusUrn formatting doesn't work for multiline messages
how does all this fit on a laptop
also how much must that have cost

10:11 PM
@ASCII-only If we didn't buy them by the thousands, probably around $2,500.

that... actually doesn't sound that bad
but I've never seen a Xeon laptop so IDK how expensive they'd be

@ASCII-only It's interesting how when you work for a fortune 100 company and try to tell I&O "No, I don't need 32GB to do my job, nor do I need 8 cores" they laugh at you and give you more.
@ASCII-only Funny part? I'm pretty sure this f**ker has Intel HD as the GFX card.
Yep: Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics P530

@MagicOctopusUrn maybe it's to help with insane build times then :P

@ASCII-only Oh no doubt, not to mention this thing is meant to run 4+ enterprise apps simultaneously with no performance degradation. Which is insanely overkill for what I do lol.
My personal laptop is an i7 with 8GB of RAM and a 960M. Which was only $750.
Honestly though? I think this computer probably couldn't even run The Witcher 3 at max settings well while my personal can at ~30 FPS.

well obviously, it's not for gaming >_>

10:16 PM
@ASCII-only Haha I was looking into external GFX cards for laptops to dual-boot on my work PC.
@ASCII-only Then I learned they have a rootkit on these PCs which will basically... prevent that? Well, not so much prevent, but if you tamper with that you're gonna get some calls. Not to mention I have no idea how.

@NathanMerrill Cool, thanks!

Well I'm outtie, leaving for the day... @DJMcMayhem buy RimWorld too xD.

hang on
external GPU works over USB-C
O_o
which are the only ports on my laptop lol

@MagicOctopusUrn I want to play Rimworld, but I was really hoping to wait for it to get out of EA
I already have a few games in my wishlist (really just a "remember to look at this again" list) that have been in EA for like 4+ years, and I'm glad I waited on those

Rimworld and Factorio are both games that should already be out of EA

10:27 PM
I did get Factorio, but I still haven't really gotten into it. I also didn't get very far in Opus Magnum. I am terrible

@EricTressler how far did you get :P

@ASCII-only only to the surface of each of them. I got to the research lab in Factorio and past the first post-tutorial chapter in Opus Magnum

@EricTressler :/

I liked both of them pretty well, but I have a lot of games and I couldn't even tell you what leads me to sink a lot of time into one versus another

atm I'm playing games mainly for achievements >_>

@NathanMerrill have you played Dwarf Fortress

yes. Not interested
I generally do the same thing in DF as I do in rimworld
I build a base
then get bored
only this time, I get bored faster because the graphics aren't as good and the long world-gen time

I was just wondering if they were similar. I only played DF for like 10 minutes

absolutely, they are
anyways, I really recommend you get to a point where you have machines automatically making science beakers for you in Factorio
that's the crux of the game

ok. I'm working toward a level update for Saturday(?) right now, but I'll keep that in mind.

@AdmBorkBork I can sort of agree with that. I somewhat had to force myself to continue, but after completing it and reading around a bit I can say that the lore and story actually goes really deep. It's just told in a very cryptic manner. There's an amazing in-depth analysis post somewhere on Reddit.
cc @DJMcMayhem
@AdmBorkBork I'm confused, what's .5 about it?

@MartinEnder Kinda like hollow Knight?

More cryptic, I'd say, because fewer words (and most of them hidden behind a cypher, like in Fez), but it's a similar vibe, yeah
@DJMcMayhem how is Oxygen not Included? I really like(d) Don't Starve but I generally wait for stuff to leave Early Access.

I have no idea
Haven't played it yet

11:27 PM
Ah okay, sounded like you did :D

I actually have played ON I or dwarf fortress XD
I just know enough about them to tell that rimworld looks similar
