@Memor-X I think that's why everyone remembers Vanilla so fondly. Servers were their own little island with smaller communities that didn't really mingle. The game may have had less complexity, but when people are nostalgic about Vanilla, they're not nostalgic about the raids and bosses for the most part, they're nostalgic about the community and the friendships they built in that period

Like, every vanilla story I hear is not "C'thun was the pinnacle of raiding" or "Blackwing Lair is the best raid ever", but "I met my wife in my first raiding guild" or "I have so many fond memories of doing content with my guild and downing Nefarian after 3 months of progression".

That's why players were so opposed to Cross Realm zoning and Connected Realms, because they made servers lose part of their identity.

@Nzall that's how it usually is with any MMO where people remember the "vanilla" experience to be better than it is now. It's mostly because "back then", you probably had a more personal experience with your guild or community and nostalgia amplifies that feeling too

people want vanilla wow back, but at the same time they complain about updates for the game coming too slow

@Nzall Honestly you have a lot more options nowadays when you compare it to pre WotLK... There's something for everyone. The only thing I agree with is the fact that social interaction (with strangers) has reduced

@Jutschge Yes, indeed, but the LFR, LFD and LFBG generated groups are still full of people who ordinarily wouldn't be playing together.

In Vanilla/BC the game was a huge grind. You weren't able to experience any of the game content without investing multiple hours per day. Now you can at least experience the content as a casual player while the game offers a ton of challenges for hardcore gamers

@Nzall That's true... although wow doesn't really have a toxic playerbase. Ofc there's the occasional asshole in the LFR group but most people are neutral or even friendly

The forums are a huge shitshow though...

Also if you're in a guild there's more than enough social interaction. I mean in my guild we have guild meetings about every 2 months and there's always someone online to play with.

@Jutschge I'm really hoping that communities for me can serve as a secondary guild so I can get groups for people at my content level. My guildies don't get much beyond +8 or +9, while I'm only able to get new gear from +15s

I'd suggest either Inviting new people to the guild or searching for a new one together. You can still be in the same guild and have different "progress" content.

In our guild we have two 30 man raidteams and multiple mythic+ pushing teams. Our main raid is currently progressing Argus M while the 2nd raid has just cleared HC a few weeks ago. We're still using the same TS3 and we're all playing together.

@Nzall if a guild grows /g shouldn't be affected by it. We have a ton of trashtalk and unrelated stuff going on in our guild chat at all times. But it's what makes it fun.

@Jutschge Our guild is literally 5 people: 4 Flemings and a Norwegian. if the Norwegian isn't online, we tend to speak Dutch

We actually 4 man mythics most of the time because we don't want to bring in a 5th pugger when one of us is offline

Our guild policy is: you have to understand swiss-german and talk swiss-german or standard german. So you can do something like this. Also if you're all in the same country you can meet up IRL which is fun.

And I think there's more people speaking/understanding dutch :P

There's also a function to filter wowprogress by language

Although I don't see any dutch guilds on your server...

And most guilds limited to one language will invite anyone as a social. Some of them just happen to have enough decent players for a mythic raid.

Mostly people being in range of another player when the debuffs spawn or someone premoving the cone

You have 0.5 seconds to move out of another players range with the square debuff. If someone gets 2 stacks or more than 3 people get 1 stack it's usually a wipe

Also there are some shitty overlaps with the black debuff + circle debuff. And the fog ticks for 7million per second. So if someone doesn't get escorted he'll most likely die

@Jutschge You shouldn't even stand close to each other when the debuffs spawn. Are you using the "move around the outside of the room" tactic?

@Nzall DHT isn't comparable. You have a bit more than a second for that. And you're only 5 people in a larger room. Here you are 20 guys with 0.5 seconds reaction time with less space.

I got a handful of archwing augment mods during the fomorian visit.

@John Well a couple of the mods I'm using are unranked but I would also need to go farming for mods.

Critical Delay, Depleted Reload, and Heavy Caliber in particular.

All of three of which are corrupted mods, IIRC.
