wondering if I have some light type of OCD.. I just spent ~30 minutes replacing every empty HTML tag because I was closing them without an space before the slash
like <br/> instead of <br />, and I read somewhere that the xhtml1 spec states there should be a space before the slash (not that a single relevant browser cares about it..)
01:31
@IanC why didn't you do a find and replace "/>" with " />"?
@AndroidDev I used %s/\(\S+\)\/>/\1 \/>/gc, because some tags had the space already, so a simple replace would end up with double spaces
I'm no good with regexes, so I would've done a 2nd find and replace double spaces with single :P
lol, guess that would work too
that regexp isn't that tricky: everything inside \( and \) gets saved in a pattern, \S means any character that is non whitespace, + means happens once or more, \/> is just the "/>", but I had to escape the slash
then \1 is the saved pattern, plus a space, plus the "/>", and gc for global replace and ask for confirmation first
basically matches any non whitespace characters followed by "/>" and replace them with the same non whitespace characters, plus a space and "/>"
I'm not very good at Regexps too, had to review some stuff to make this one

And they sent a survey for developers to get feedback, so I thought "ah, I'll tell them that they shouldn't do that."
I answered the first question and the survey ended "sorry, you do not qualify for this survey."
I mean - do you want the feedback or not, Amazon?

I'm seeing NXDOMAIN - doesn't that mean it isn't an active domain name?
And yet, none of the registrars are willing to register it.
Maybe it's in the 60 day grace period...
@NathanOsman whois suggests its registered
godaddy looks like the address is masked
Ah.
I think the dig in Raspbian is misconfigured.
My Arch box is returning records.

First bounty you offer on another person's question. \o/ If someone is interested in 250 extra, here you go!
Hello and good afternoon :)

@cl-netbox Hi cl!
@dessert Hi :) How are you doing today ?
@cl-netbox Very good, and you?
I'm really struggling to understand why my flag as not an answer was not accepted for askubuntu.com/questions/1005133/… :D
@dessert That's nice - same here ... I have tested libguestfs-tools which lets me modify virtual disks when the VMs are shutdown ... works perfectly. :)
@vidarlo It's a solution after all…
15:36
@dessert barely... but yeah.
poor answers are still answers, but a downvote may be appropriate
I stumbled across this question today and am eager to receive a truly good answer, so I started a bounty – let's see what that does.
I guess it's partially hardware dependent as well?
boxy!
@vidarlo It is, I included that in the bounty description
@vidarlo What wrong about google's DNS server? skimming?
all computers do have a hardware switch in the jack port, but it may simply be a signal to software, or it may actually change hardware configuration of sound card as well
15:43
@vidarlo so that is what one should determine first I suppose, but how?
probably look at the kernel module
@Rinzwind Rinzy ! :)
@vidarlo vidi! :D

Q: white space in ZFS command line

HankBI have found that white space seems to be significant in ZFS commands, but only apparently under some conditions.. For example, both of the following commands work: root@grandidier:~# zfs list -t snap -r tank/srv NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT tank/srv@initial 4.22G ...

wtf oO
Is this a zfs bug? It's certainly not an issue with bash command substitution – or is it?
@dessert That's not offensive enough to use as a nick name!

I think I am done helping people asking about crypto currency mining scripts. It honestly feels like to me that they are not willing to learn the scripting process at all and are looking to us to write it all for them.
2
maybe because more and more people are screwing with secure boot?
18:43
Could be! I upgoated that one a while ago. =)
@AndroidDev I wouldn't doubt it if they were. The other day someone got locked out of their Lenovo and had to reset it, then had to change the Secure Boot. So, yes, I can see that as more and more now. =)
We’re going to be doing some maintenance on the Data Explorer for just a bit to patch it up. It’ll be back online right after.
19:18
Does anyone think this is any good?
It seems oddly cheap.
That does seem cheap! It is cheaper in US Dollars. ;) Only comes to $18.03
Could be a complete piece of something.
There's only one review.
So I'm suspicious. I was expecting to spend at least $90-$100.
@NathanOsman I looked at more reviews from that person. 13 reviews, 0 helpful.
Makes ya wonder.
Yeah.
I might as well forget that one.
It doesn't seem like it would be good quality to me.
20:07
@Terrance What did you expect? The whole crytocurrency hype attracted a bunch of people who think they can make money without work.

@DavidFoerster I did indeed. ;)
Btw, have any of you guys tried cold brew?
Don't drink coffee anymore, so for me that's a no. I used to love drinking it and I miss it. :( But the caffeine in it makes me feel all funky. :(
