Greetings. GypsyStrangeweaver! :) < @GypsySpellweaver >
I losted my data. :(
Even a full 1+ hour recording of IoTA.SE only seconds or minutes after it came out.
OK, not really I have it on my YouTube Channel. :)
But a lot was lost.
But a lot was gain! <knowledge! I should of created a backup!>
I recreated the account and everything but, even though encryption has caused me all this trouble:
I AM STILL USING ENCRYPTION!!! :)
OK.
@GypsySpellweaver Did you got that?

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 Got that. Nothing wrong with using encryption, just use it responsibly.

I know.

Have you ever wondered why the vote buttons and score are so prominent on every Stack Exchange question?

Putting voting front and center is very much intentional; it is how …

good content is voted to the top

good content is voted to the top

wrong or incorrect content is voted to the bottom

wrong or incorrect content is voted to the bottom

users who consistently provide useful content accrue reputation and are granted more privileges on the site

It’s only through voting that a class of editors, closers, and moderators can emerge to help run and govern the site. Voting is how site leadership forms. That’s why the reputation leagues show a breakdown of reputation spectrums. …

3:56 AM
@GypsySpellweaver Hi, again! :)

hello again to you too

I am going to rebuild ParaUX.

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 "Rebuild" as in start over, or "resurrect" as in finish what was started?

That was an "A or B" question, not a "Yes or No" question. ;P

3:59 AM
I have to start over.

Time for the news broadcast. BBL (~15 min)

OK.
I am listening to some horror stories while rebuilding ParaUX.

4:25 AM
@D.Hutchinson Hi! :)
@GypsySpellweaver D.Hutchinson is scared of room #61165.

Yes, @GypsySpellweaver :(
Hi @HenryWHHackv2.1.1 :)

I have given him a 7 day token to this room.
for counselling.

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 Why would he not like an Awkward Silence. And how come it's being raised here?

5 mins ago, by Henry WH Hack v2.1.1
for counselling.

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 free therapy - yay :)

4:39 AM
@GypsySpellweaver He was suspended there.

Oh. Suspensions stink. :(

I got suspend from chat 3+ times and I am still not afraid to talk in the rooms I got suspended in.

for being a bot, @HenryWHHackv2.1.1? that sucks :(

Later I'm going to have to thank a user for posting his question. It gave me a chance to do some bikeshedding that was also productive.

@GypsySpellweaver are you also a bot?

4:42 AM
@D.Hutchinson Just on auto-pilot, but not a bot.

@GypsySpellweaver I see
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 haha that's nice to not be afraid ...
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 free counseling - I'm totally coming here for 7 days straight

5:01 AM
@D.Hutchinson That's better than coming here twisted for 7 days. :)

5:36 AM
@GypsySpellweaver I am recreating ParaUX now. :)

Hope you get it the way you want it this time.

It was all the same way everytime. :)

But have you ever "finished" it? Is it, or will it be, ready for distribution?

I am looking for ideas.
ParaUX Quiz:

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 how come you always say "Keeping it Alive!" or in the Law chat room, "I am the law!"

5:39 AM
What OS ParaUX is based on?
@D.Hutchinson Too keep it from freezing.

Kubuntu -> Ubuntu -> Debian

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 I see

@GypsySpellweaver Ubuntu.
What is the other name for ParaUX?

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 I'm heading into The Awkward Silence now, wearing my helmet. Wish me luck.

5:40 AM
Yes.

@D.Hutchinson Best of luck.

Thanks @GypsySpellweaver

@D.Hutchinson Should I watch?

Nah, not necessary @GypsySpellweaver :)
Thanks :)

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 Well, what's the answer?

5:42 AM
HMCompDis or HMCD = Highly Modified Compiz Distribution

Who inspired me to create ParaUX?

I keep forgetting what that translates too
Kerbob
Or whatever it is.

@GypsySpellweaver It's Kenorb.
LOL! :D

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 what do you think of this song: The stranger sang a theme
From someone else's dream
The leaves began to fall
And no-one spoke at all
But I can't seem to recall
When you came along
Ingenue

Ingenue
I just don't know what to do

The tree-lined avenue
Begins to fade from view
Drowning past regrets
In tea and cigarettes
But I can't seem to forget
When you came along
Ingenue

5:52 AM
@D.Hutchinson I know nothing about it. Until the tea and cigarettes line I was thinking it could have been from an Elven or Dwarven source. Now I suspect it's from a UK source - possibly Canadian or Auzzy.

hmm @GypsySpellweaver it's a song from the soundtrack for a movie called "Great Expectations"
american movie, that is

@D.Hutchinson Which one? 1946, 1998, or 2012?

1998

With a British base (Dickens) it would explain the "tea and cigarettes" line quite nicely.
So, how's it going in The Awkward Silence?

@GypsySpellweaver I left there momentarily - that moderator is really mean. I'll head back in there later, when others are there :)

6:01 AM
Who's the mod in there now? Cat or Ash?

Cat is the one I'm referring to ...

She suspended him.
Don't worry.

haha @HenryWHHackv2.1.1

Just don't do what you did next time.

ok @HenryWHHackv2.1.1 :(

6:03 AM
I don't know about mean, but definitely rigid. But, it is_ the room for IPS, so that makes sense.

Yeah, I guess, @GypsySpellweaver ...

I haven't been kicked out for it (yet), but I've had my share of discussions with her, and others as well.
I guess I just know when to duck and run and manage to avoid the suspension by the plaque on my teeth.

Yeah @GypsySpellweaver
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 is amusing. He's brought up my suspension three times now :)

I do have some entrenched opinions that strike other people across the nose. I try to keep them in check. Sometimes, however, I decide that someone has to say something, and then elect myself to be the fool to say it/
@D.Hutchinson Maybe that's because you have topped his record. (Green eyes maybe?)

6:10 AM
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 haha

:42234362 Moderators aren't supposed to be helpful, they are human exception handlers.

I see @GypsySpellweaver
hmm ... @GypsySpellweaver but what Cat did seems to me like more than exception handling ...

Wasn't there, don't know. Sometimes it's just putting out fires.

and having a personal vendetta ... e.g. saying to me very rudely, "I, for one, am not your friend, so you can't give me a hug"
she took issue with me giving a hugs

6:14 AM
I will contact a higher up about this, I am good friends with one of the higher ups:
My RC ♦ joke for today.

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 hahaha

It happens everyday.

please don't @HenryWHHackv2.1.1 it's not necessary ...

I won't.
@D.Hutchinson Too much hugs maybe?

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 apparently, yeah

6:17 AM
Some people aren't into zen hugs. It really is a cultural thing.

yeah, apparently, @GypsySpellweaver
nice to know, I guess

Where in the wide world web do you hail from?

I merely explained that that's how my female friends do their email sign-offs, with "hugs, Charlene", for instance. And, that's when Cat jumped in to say, "I, for one, am not your friend ..." @GypsySpellweaver
New York City @GypsySpellweaver
Manhattan, East Village :)

USA, and crowded.

where plenty of fistbumps, handshakes, hugs, smiles are given daily ...
yeah haha
I also sometimes feel targeted in that room precisely because they know I'm a New Yorker ... but that's sort of overthinking it ...
(perhaps, I don't know ... )

6:21 AM
USA Westerners tend to be more selective on personal space, and often try to carry that into cyber space.

interesting, @GypsySpellweaver
I see she's from Texas, she'd probably shoot me if I tried to hug her in person. Ugh ... scary thought ...

In the west, contact is more vocal and much less physical. More space available, so more to claim as personal space.

I see @GypsySpellweaver

There upon lies one of the major challenges of the IPS site. A solution for you, and your culture, might not work so well for someone from New Mexico, and be totally worthless for an Asian culture.

yeah @GypsySpellweaver

6:25 AM
Somehow, in a real-time chat, they try to make it work anyway. In other rooms that deal with less "personal" issues (as a matter of course) they can retreat to the cold technical/mathematical/scientific world that the site addresses, and avoid most personality issues.
On the IPS site, personality issues is the topic, so it's not so easy to bypass.

Yeah @GypsySpellweaver

@GypsySpellweaver Do you want me to change that?

Just be a duck.

Not the same thing.

6:27 AM
OK.

@GypsySpellweaver what does being a duck mean? Or, was that for Henry?

You've bounced me from here a few times for different tests.

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 do you mind if I eat my turkey sandwich?

@D.Hutchinson It's for you. A duck has natural oils on their skin. When you see them running their feathers through their bills, they are spreading that oil from their skin onto their feathers. That makes the water bead up and keeps them dry.

I see @GypsySpellweaver

6:31 AM
So... It's not as simple as the idea that water rolls of the duck's back. Instead the duck has to restore the protection so that the feathers will do their job.
In the subject at hand, that's like thinking about how the other might have interpreted, or miss-interpreted, your messages, and reacted in a way you didn't expect. Try to avoid causing the same effect again, but still be able to say what you need to.
Mods, and even RO's, aren't always right, but they are still the ones with the buttons.
It's amazing what a mere Room owner can do, even without mod powers.

See
And I have no rank on any site.

haha @GypsySpellweaver I see

Of course, I'll probably pay for that little stunt.

6:37 AM
how so? is @HenryWHHackv2.1.1 mad now?

No clue.

WHO DARES REMOVE ME AS RO OF THE ROOM I CREATED!!!

@D.Hutchinson Any other questions?

Oh wait, I didn't create this room. :D

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 I was suspended by Cat, and she is not my friend. Two facts I learned in The Awkward Silence :(
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 hahahaha

6:38 AM
@GypsySpellweaver Yes. (Not really.)

@GypsySpellweaver no :(
I'll put my helmet on and head back into The Awkward Silence
Thanks for the talk @GypsySpellweaver
Thanks @HenryWHHackv2.1.1

@D.Hutchinson for?

@D.Hutchinson Always welcome

For reminding me of my suspension @HenryWHHackv2.1.1 :)

Oh.
@D.Hutchinson So, how was the service?

6:42 AM
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 it was great :)
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 the moderator, Cat, said that you and I were the "blind leading the blind"
anyway, bye

@D.Hutchinson huh?
Do you want to revoke your token now.

no @HenryWHHackv2.1.1

You don't need it anymore. But OK.
Who is Cat?

Why say Cat?
5 mins ago, by D.Hutchinson
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 the moderator, Cat, said that you and I were the "blind leading the blind"

6:49 AM
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 because @GypsySpellweaver said "Cat"
so I just followed @GypsySpellweaver, @HenryWHHackv2.1.1

@GypsySpellweaver What does it mean?

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 It means nothing. It is merely a hyperlink with an image and some text.

No the underline quote: "@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 the moderator, Cat, said that you and I were the "blind leading the blind""

Don't know, I wasn't there at the time.

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 you should report it to your higher-up friend, Robert.
just kidding @HenryWHHackv2.1.1

6:52 AM
I have no idea what he means?

I'm gonna eat my turkey sandwich and doritos ... yummm bye @HenryWHHackv2.1.1

@D.Hutchinson Crunchy Cheetos and Coffee sounds better.

in trash, Jan 6 at 4:33, by Catija
@apaul Blind leading the blind.
@GypsySpellweaver I wonder if that's it?

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 Could be, not sure.
Now it's time for me to elect myself as a speaker and move into the silence and make it more awkward. And more noisy.

If I change the room ID to 61165 to the same date as that transcript I will get:
The same day I meet D.Hutchinson.

7:03 AM
Interesting

@GypsySpellweaver I find that offensive in a way. true but offensive.

Is that a case of "The truth hurts" ?

Well, yeah.
I still don't know what she means.
@GypsySpellweaver I think you have someone else to counsel...
me.

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 Why?

She, said something I don't like.

7:13 AM
46 mins ago, by Gypsy Spellweaver
Just be a duck.
Who knows. Maybe 30 seconds before that her son puked on her slippers, and she just wasn't feeling very "nice" at the moment.
Have you see what Gerber carrots look like on the second trip?

@GypsySpellweaver I am very sensitive.
@GypsySpellweaver OK.

Creating possible explanations for the rotten things people do, to you or someone else, is good practice for developing empathy.

My logic: If you have to say something to me say it directly and not in a way I don't know about.
Example:
@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 Please stop this is not the way you should behave.
How do I know she was telling me to stop?
BTW: I am having this feeling I get when I stay on a topic for too long.
It's a strange felling.

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 Then switch topics.

OK, How is life?

7:24 AM
Are you a committer for the next beta site to launch?

Nope.
Stellar.SE?

I hear tell that it'll be a stellar launch

Bad joke :)
14 days from proposal to full commitment. !!

7:26 AM
I am very amazed.

@GypsySpellweaver But wait:
4
A: How quickly proposal can go into private beta?

kenorbAccording to this post from 2014, the current record holds the Craft CMS proposal which made to private beta in only 12 days. The second fastest site to go from initial proposal to private beta is Emacs proposal. Most of the quickest proposals achieving private beta are results of having establ...

I might have to come up with a question of two myself, just to see what happens
I don't think Stellar went through that re-proposal cycle. Did it?

So this one is legit, a real fast-track.

Yeah.
859
Stellar

Proposed Q&A site for developers and users of Stellar and the Stellar Distributed Exchange.

Currently in commitment.

My account is still showing as one of the editors. :)

7:30 AM
I wonder if it had a redit, or other group, that moved to SE
It's no longer in commitment.
> A successful site needs people to commit to use it. This proposal is

100%
complete. Committed users will be invited to the private beta soon.

@GypsySpellweaver Most cryptocurrency proposals make it to beta very fast.

I'm still not sure how it's going to work with so many different sites doing the same thing.
Somehow, to me, it feels like having a site for Perl, for Java, for C/C++, and for Haskel. Making SO a wasteland.
Of course, I know zilch about any of them, so they could be so different that they need to be isolated from each other. Like Apple, Windows, and Linux.

But what I am going to start objecting to are folks who continually submit proposals without any attempt or means to actually build these sites. Area 51 is intended to support an engaged, enthusiast community with a desire to support their subject.... not to throw up random, unsupported ideas to see what sticks. — Robert Cartaino ♦ Jan 8 at 19:20
He is coming to his senses now. :)

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 Do you suppose he's talking to Dernoncourt?

Nope.
Franck Dernoncourt, San Jose, CA, USA
13.9k 6 6

7:37 AM
Apparently Stellar had that "community" already.

I remember when the progress bar was barely before the "t" in the word "commit".
Now it's this far passed it.

Moving along

Not far far but far.
PROGRESS!

That little space needs to be filled in.

7:43 AM
It will be.

YES!
I have a rule, it goes like this: If you are saying something about the proposal going into beta don't say something like, "If <proposalname> goes into beta, XYZ" but "When <proposalname> goes into beta, XYZ"
I am trying to keep away negative energy.

That's a rather holistic view.

Well it's to:
2 mins ago, by Henry WH Hack v2.1.1
I am trying to keep away negative energy.

Maybe you should have gone to Woodstock

7:49 AM
The Woodstock Music & Art Fair—informally, the Woodstock Festival or simply Woodstock— was a music festival in the United States in 1969 which attracted an audience of over 400,000. Scheduled for August 15–17 on a dairy farm in the Catskill Mountains of southern New York State, northwest of New York City, it ran over to Monday, August 18. Billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music", it was held at Max Yasgur's 600-acre (240 ha; 0.94 sq mi) dairy farm near the hamlet of White Lake in the town of Bethel. In Sullivan County, Bethel is 43 miles (70 km) southwest of the town of Woodstock...

People in the 60's were "into" the flow of "energy" and vibes.

12 hours later…
7:40 PM
No clue.
no.
Time for a break.
@D.Hutchinson How old are you?

8:11 PM
I should of known!
I know.
You don't have to bring it up all the time.
It should be OK now.
I moved on.

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 nice :)

3 hours later…
10:59 PM
*GypsySpellweaver Do you know about: virustotal.com

@HenryWHHackv2.1.1 Nope. But I see what it is. Not a bad idea for Windows users for sure. I would not trust it myself without doing some serious checking into what they do.
I.e.: How old is their virus signature database, and how often updated?

@GypsySpellweaver It's owned by Google. (One sign of trust.)
In Google we trust.

Google != trust. They are subject to the same governmental pressures as any other big company.

@GypsySpellweaver I know.

11:49 PM
import trust
if google == trust():
    print "yes"
else:
    print "no"

no
I wish Google would institute a warrant canary program. I wish any and all sites that have that power and reach would do that.
