Hmmm....

I'm not sure if the DM is giving me a key plot element or trying to kill me

"The shadow didn't reply, except it continued to whimper in its corner. Even under the faint glow of the church's machinery, the druid could only make that it was for sure, human; a female with disheveled long hair. She kept her face dug in her palms as she scooted into the corner.

"They're after me..." she muttered. "I don't want any trouble!" "

Now, the problem here is 1) I've only got enough spell-points for one (MAYBE two) more spells

2) The church didn't glow or have machinery earlier when we went it

3) The entire party is sealed in the basement to protect us from a lycan outbreak/army (it's nighttime), and I used meld with stone to get through the floor to check on some sounds up here

See, if I unseal the basement to get the rest of the party up here, that could be the worst choice I could make

Because I don't have enough stuff to re-seal it again

(the basement is safe)

If I just go back downstairs (my meld with stone spell is active for another 30 mins), I'm leaving a girl alone in a suspicious building at night that was the site of a lycan attack the night before

If I try to handle this on my own....I could end up like the person who last checked on Doris

(i'm using doris as a reference because another player immediately made that joke after the DM responded with this)

Well, I've decided:

I'm going to shoot her in the leg with a silver-tipped arrow

If she's a lycan, stuff will happen

if she's not, less important stuff will happen

I'll just change forms, convince her some strange interloper shot her, and take her down to the party healer.

Generally speaking, try not to split up the party

Also generally speaking, shooting someone in the leg isn't the most polite way to make friends. Because if this girl is a werewolf, then now you're stuck fighting a werewolf by yourself.

Well, She's on the OTHER side of the church (which is a sizeable building)

Since meld-with-stone is still active, I could probably slip back through the floor to the safety of the basement before she reaches me

Watch it be a normal girl, and I shoot a crit that makes her pelvis shatter and severs both femoral arteries....

Now I wish I hadn't spent all of my spells on one thing earlier.

What about... taking her to the seal, telling her to wait, then inform your party that you found a potential survivor

Right, so if you approach and she goes werewolf and attacks, then you can quickly escape via floor.

I have actually been in a similar situation in a game that I was in

We were in the BBEG's mountain fortress, and I (the druid) was blindly shifting through the stone, as a way to scout ahead, while the rest of the party was resting up

Soon after, I accidentally shifted into the BBEG's study. Right next to him.

He cast disintegrate on my face, took half my HP, and I said "Oops excuse me" and exited back into the wall

Apparently, he then alerted the entire dungeon to our presence

And rather than a dungeon crawl through traps and mini-bosses, we had a single massive encounter that lasted multiple sessions
