Q: I can hardly calculate how often 'calculation' is used as a uncalculated risk of having a meaningless question title

Martin - マーチンHello again from buzzword land! I have recently been looking through some of the buzzword queries again and noticed, that there is again (still) lots to do. Very helpful in this regard is Brian's SEDE query. Today I would like to add a few more entries to the list, although I know that these buz...

Oh, some of the journal abbreviations in Mendeley are borked.

Seems good. You'll just have to insert the citation number yourself, because obviously Mendeley can't and won't detect which number you're at on SE.
Right now it's just for journal articles, but we can easily extend it to books, etc.
The style URL is here: csl.mendeley.com/styles/472424481/acs-chemse-jy I suspect the csl file works with some other software too, Zotero and Papers?
Should get back to work now. :)

I see a paper by Tanja Gaich.
My ex boss’ new girlfriend.
@orthocresol TiCl4 won’t kill you, I’m sure ;)
Also, close and downvoting causes the questions to get deleted fastest iirc. Having an upvoted answer there prevents deletion. And close voting imho gets the point across better to the OP’s, saying no to their question explicitly.

12:19 PM
@Jan It will if you sniff it... :D

Jan
Only if you sniff it like cocaine ;P

@Jan Anyway, I'm not actually against closing. If people closed and downvoted, then as far as the HW questions go, it would be fine.

It what I’m doing atm.
In fact, I have been actively seeking out the questions to downvote recently. Just to make sure they hit any threshold of negative votes that I can reasonably draw them towards.

Good! now we just need more people to do it..

Jan
It’s worth noting that even a single downvote helps the more rapid deletion mechanism kick in, even if it takes three to purge it from the front page …

I'm meh on roomba. It's good and all, but it's a cleanup mechanism that only works behind the scenes
My aim is to get it off the front page. I don't really care all that much if it gets deleted, 7 days after it was posted.

Jan
Oh, I want to delete the crap out of bad stuff.
The reason why I should never be entrusted with mod duties.

And off I go. See you people o/

this is good though, I should be able to use a CSL file with any software worth a damn

Q: Solutions of Group 1 and Group 2 metals in Ammonia

AyushmaanWhen we add Group-1, 2 metals to liquid ammonia, they dissolve to form metal cations and solvated electrons. $$\ce{M + NH3(liq) -> M+ + e-}$$ Now, when the G-1 solution evaporates, we get the metal back, but in the case of a G-2 solution, it gives a metal complex, $\ce{[M(NH3)6]+}$. What is th...

@hBy2Py Hmmm, it's busy here, but I could probably wing something if either you came here for lunch or if I didn't have to go too far

5:26 PM
@Zhe Ah, lunch is pretty much not an option. My schedule's pretty tight already anyways, too.
Probably we should pass.

5:41 PM
too bad, I could have been there too

@hBy2Py Rough. Next time. Sorry!

@pentavalentcarbon You'll be in Boston 2nd half next week?

@pentavalentcarbon yeah, that's the only real issue I have with Mendeley; their servers go haywire every now and then. But their support is fairly responsive, which is nice. (after Steam support, everybody's support probably seems responsive)

8:37 PM
My only problem with mendeley was that it wasn't possible to have more than one reference under one number and then labeled with a, b, c and so on
