1. OP specifically asked for telnet. There are legitimate use cases. They appear to be aware of the existence of SSH. 2. This answer does not help them solve their problem at all. @ThatREDACTEDGuy I tend not to keep my servers up this long. Although I have the technical ability to avoid reboots with certain updates such as systemd, it does require me to drop to single-user mode and then go back to normal operation. Although this involves less disruption than a reboot, it's not really an issue because I don't really care about 2-3 minutes of downtime every couple of weeks or so.
@JourneymanGeek what groups does the Veeam windows client use for the backup operator? Or it is only the enterprise edition that has all the cool things?
Use case: we need a deparment to be able to do their own off site backups, since the documents they manage are more sensitive than what IT is prepared to handle, but none of the users could have adm rights.
