Why does 目が mean I know 目 means eye but why is there a participle?

@user25750 Does it mean "I know"? Looking at jisho.org, I wasn't able to find that meaning. jisho.org/search/%E7%9B%AE%E3%81%8C

I don't think that's what @user25750 was saying, but the question is too difficult to understand as written.

They might have meant "What does 目が mean? I know 目 means 'eye', but why is there a particle?"

Or they might have meant "Why does 目が mean what it does? I know 目 means 'eye', but why is there a particle?"

Unless they clarify their question, I don't think we can answer.

If it were posted on the main site, we'd close it as Unclear what you're asking.

One possibility is that it means "My eyes!" (they hurt because of seeing something or because something hit them)

reminds me of ムスカ...

バルス!
Yeah, it's a shortening of 目が痛い. Sometimes you can drop out the verb like this and just leave the subject, if the verb is super obvious from context. (Less commonly than dropping the subject and keeping the verb.)

How many words should I use for politeness?
From Inuyasha: ''絶対に許さねえからな'', what does からな mean? and what does the whole sentence mean from that?
What do -sai suffixes mean e.g gomenasai?

@user25750 I don't understand that question

@user25750 `How many words should I use for politeness?` - Like many languages, more polite language tends to take more time... but that's a general observation, not a rule you can work from

kara na are two particles. kara can explain cause/motivation. na is a sentence-final particle that has a pretty good explanation here: https://japanese.stackexchange.com/questions/33969

-sai is at least referenced here:
