@RoryAlsop Thanks for the answers to all my questions! @ab2 That was a great idea to post a meta question. I put one up. Feel free to edit, of course, if it doesn't cover everything you need. Rory, since you're so easy to understand, I hope you'll want to answer it, if you have time. If not, hopefully another mod will.
@ab2 I'm sorry about your yellow jacket problem. That's a lot of stinging! Of course I worry, but I'm glad you're not allergic, and that you're home safe and sound. Get some rest.

@imsodin Hi, would be interesting to hear what strength training you use exactly for climbing; I see others in the gym doing fingerboards but no idea what they use for improving core strength for instance..

3:28 PM
Core strength is not climbing specific (I assume): I usually use some energetic song for timing and then do various exercises of which I don't know the English names sorry. Like holding the extended push up position and then touching the elbow and knee of opposite sides repeatedly. Or similar position on one arm and the side of your foots, body sideways, then lift arms and legs or move hip up and down. Then some exercises for abs and back.
In the end I use like 4 main exercise with variations. If I needed to make them harder (never got to that point), you can do the same on balance boards a

3:39 PM
And another thing I like doing that combines finger and body strength: Han onto holds in an overhang and touch holds on the wall with your toes.

3:52 PM
@imsodin thanks, no need for English names, I get the idea :] Not sure if I can push myself to do that regularly but if I do I'll let you know if there's any effect. Actually, lately I've been doing other sports gaining upper back/shoulder strength and that did seem to have a positive effect on climbing. But it's always hard to judge as it's no exact science. For all I know I just had a good day..

@WedaPashi Bummer, I'd like to see those pictures. I don't know enough to help, but I'm curious. Are you saying you can't get them to load in chat, or are they not loading anywhere on the site?
I've had that problem with Firefox in the chat at Gardening SE, but not on the main site, except when they've been too big.
