I am no one to decide an out-dated or applicable laws. But we can decide by some deep thinking. Some dharma shastras says that visiting foreign countries is prohibited. But it is outdated now. Same applies to the law of child marriage. @sv.

@sv. Leaving a husband straight away is not a recommended action. We have rehabs now. IMO alcoholism of a husband can be taken care of.

@SS Yes, not visiting US, crossing oceans etc. seems too outdated. I heard one temple in Kerala removed head priest from post for traveling to US but later apologized & reinstated.
That's why these scriptural injunctions don't make sense to me - if something doesn't apply to this new world we're living in, better to discard it.
@SS By drunkard I mean repeat offender...who also abuses wife physically. None of the Swamis or TV guru's come out openly & suggest divorce. Chaganti once blamed parents for such a marriage instead of offering a solution.
