I'm considering using S3 sometime down the road for static files (in conjunction with CloudFront).

thats not a fair shake though... only the javascript gets loaded from CDN over there with that particular flavor of my software.

Indeed they do

I use cloudberry for the most part, but they do have a tool kit / SDK for everything they offer.

AWS is a really nice suite for infrastructure in the cloud

just beware of the EC2 Roulette when you get into dedicated processing space - i've had two instances enter a "degraded state" where they at random decide to stop responding and just sit there like a derp -- if you make nightly snapshots you should be fine though, just convert the snapshot into an AMI and re reploy it. unhook the dirty instance from the elastic ip, join the new one and you're good to go.

total time to redeploy a server is about 3 minutes if its scripted.

Yeah - Juju will really make this awesome.

Once the Juju store goes live, then it will be really easy to deploy services to the cloud.

So i've been reading in here, jorge has been head over heals with it for a week now :)

I'm jelly, i wont lie. Chef is fun - since i have to support win2k8 servers all day - so it makes juju more appealing but less feesable of a solution.

hmm... xubuntu does not give me the ability to change system colors like lubuntu did : (

Yeah - I always install Firebug in Firefox simply because it provides a lot of the same functionality as the WebKit inspector.

@lazyPower Yeah, Chrome just freezes every time I start it now - even after a clean install.

@jrg Not too hard. Most of the work is setting up the manifest.json file, housecleaning, etc.

@jrg It's pretty straight forward, you just inject some javascript on the page (or override the Ajax method) to capture any changes and trigger the notify box

Learning how to inject javascript and not create mayhem is where it gets interesting :)

Like MVC (Model-View-Controller), for example.

The MVC pattern abstracts the code performing "actions" from the code rendering pages and the code dealing with the database.

Okay, well in that case I would suggest starting with something a little bit simpler for a first project.

Rewriting your ClassLibrary should probably wait until you have a better grasp of the language.

My objective:

Walled Garden (require login to see any page)

Keep it simple stupid - both in coding and in interface

feed-style chat

similar to the stack exchange site

allow voting up and down of chat messages

after a post get -2 automatic deletion

have a "dawer" - drag messages there to save them for later

That sounds like something Django could handle.

It comes with a built in admin site that allows you to edit user permissions, etc.

It's really easy to work with.

Q: How do I customise Ubiquity?

If I want to create a remastered Ubuntu, how do I edit Ubiquity so that when my friends boot up from my live cd iso they will see something like "Welcome to Jason OS!" I also want my custom Ubiquity to have my own slideshow and my own information about my remastered Ubuntu. Is this possible?
