@Saturnus If something was clearly posted with the sole intention of wasting our time, just flag it as rude/abusive and move on.

1:55 PM
yes sir
but it was not clearly that way

@Saturnus Try to imagine yourself in the place of somebody who is actually faced with the dilemma in question. Would you phrase your question that way?

some do phrase that way

Not when honestly seeking advice, at least not when they somehow managed to be admitted to higher education.

I have heard people in higher ed speak like that
and worse

I can imagine this, but would you expect these people to talk like this when talking to some professional advisor when they honestly want advice?

it looked like a poorly written topic from a newbie unfamiliar with what is appropriate for the site
and off topic

@Saturnus I beg to disagree; it clearly looked like some kid trying to troll us.

question - do you closely monitor all members like this?
@Wrzlprmft maybe clear for you, but not for me - s I have seen many chats like that, even with advisors

I do not monitor anybody. I just happened to see you treat a troll post like a normal post, which is generally a bad idea – though this is not obvious. I could have replied to you in a comment, but that would have attracted more attention from the poster and might have been lost with the deletion of the post.

as I have said, it was not obvious to me that it may have been a 'troll' post
so, what now?
Am I to be suspended for not thinking the way you do?
nevermind, I'll go... sure you'll be happy about that

2:44 PM
@Saturnus I was trying to give some advice; nothing more. I cannot suspend you, and even if I could, I wouldn’t because you didn’t act maliciously or similar.

Q: Is time of submission of a question or an answer associated with more or less views and votes?

Joe_74I have submitted several posts to ACADEMIA and received very variable feedbacks in terms of views and votes. It seems to me that choosing a specific time of submission (typically working hours in US time zones) leads to more views and votes. Is this true?
