@NapoleonWilson Oh, God. Well, if it's that important to you, you know that I will. You better provide me with a more pleasurable viewing experience the 4th time watching it, then ;)

@steelersquirrel Awww, don't worry, it's not. ;-)

@NapoleonWilson I will. I don't care. I just want to know what's going to make me like the movie after watching it with you...what are you going to provide me with that I wasn't provided with the first 3 times?

@steelersquirrel Awww, I don't know, I could explain to you what's going on.

Well...alright, then.

(I know what you want to hear, but sorry, no distractions for that film.) ;-P

Q: <In the Heart of the Sea> Joy kept a bottle all through the drift. What was it?

BunchWhen Essex was on fire, a stoppered bottle rolled in front of Joy who was moving stuffs to boats. Later, the bottle was seen when Joy took it out of his pocket to see it. He never opened it the whole way despite the fact that he was dying. Is it whale oil or liquor or something else I don't know?...

@NapoleonWilson Meh. Don't worry. I'm used to not hearing what I want to hear by now ;)

:'(
@MovieReel Oh c'mon. You know you can edit it if it's badly formatted, you don't have to downvote it.
@steelersquirrel Are you ok, little squirrelywuirrel?

@NapoleonWilson Yes.

O...okay.

I'm sorry. I'm just mildly curious and a little stressed about this email that I received. I will talk to you about it in a few hours.

5:15 PM
Okay.

I know that I was telling Ankit that I liked surprise emails earlier, but not this kind of surprise email. I just don't know.

Um, I didn't send any. Now I'm curious, too.
o_O

Yeah...I know you didn't send any.

:'(
I'll get me some coffee now.

A J
@NapoleonWilson Cheers

5:34 PM
Oh, gheez. cde's answer has a DV on it.
runs

A J

It's just a copy and paste job, but it still doesn't deserve a DV, imo...

Agreed.

@AJ Davy Jones is portrayed by a vampire...just sayin'

But this might also mean that the question might unfortunately end up with a downvote too. :'(
So M secretly works for SPECTRE?

5:37 PM
Yeah...which makes zero sense. I was going to answer that question, too. There's no way in hell that I am doing so now.

A J
Which question you're talking about?

@steelersquirrel Awww, please don't be repelled from answering a question that you feel have a good answer to just because of issues like that. :'(

Q: Funding Source?

Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2I've started watching Nikita (2010-TV). It seems Nikita is quite able to afford expensive spur of the moment things, to include travel and tech. What is her funding source? To this point in the series, she's just able to come up with the money. It doesn't state whether she has the money already o...

Q: What is the joke with Rob Reiner's hat?

sanpacoIn This is Spinal Tap, Rob Reiner plays a documentary filmmaker named Marty DiBergi who is wearing the same hat throughout the entire film which looks like its meant to be some sort of joke due to its alteration from the real version of the same hat. His hat says "USS OORAL SEA OV-4B" while the ...

5:40 PM
Meh.

A J
Bleh
Anyway, time to sleep. Good night/day.

@AJ Good night :)

A J
I was going to watch a movie, but couldn't.

@AJ Hehe!
@AJ Oh, which one? And why couldn't you?
@AJ It even has almost community ad size. ;-)

@AJ Wisest advice: The woman is always right! I don't understand why you men can't get that through your heads ;)

5:48 PM
Hmpf, I know. I'll learn some day, I promise. :'(

Oh, God...like I'm serious! Stop crying, already! ;)

A J
@NapoleonWilson Phobia, a Bollywood movie Ankit suggested.

@steelersquirrel Awww, you think I am? ;-P
@AJ I see.

@NapoleonWilson Of course not! I know that you would never admit to or concede to me being right all of the time ;)

A J
5:51 PM
And I couldn't watch it because I got busy watching the current state election drama on news. A fun show from popular RJ was also on air.

@AJ Oh, God. That sounds like a weird and bizarre Ankit-like movie just from the title ;)

A J
Haha

I'm still recovering from the Human Centipede thing that he has talked about. I made the mistake of googling it and instantly regretting it and being scarred for life ;)
The deranged Doctor in that movie is German, btw...just sayin'

I'm...not surprised.

A J
5:56 PM
@steelersquirrel If woman is always right, then what happens when two women start arguing. ;P

@AJ Mass hysteria and utter chaos. Ask Napoleon. He has seen an argument with my sister and I. It isn't pretty ;)

I still haven't seen you arguing live yet, though. o_O

@NapoleonWilson Why? Are you guys known for your deranged Doctors?

A J
Means you only heard.

@steelersquirrel I guess so.

5:58 PM
hello
@steelersquirrel define "not pretty"

@NapoleonWilson Well, you were sitting next to me when I yelled at her and hung up the phone on her ;)
@Riker Meaning that it was an ugly scene ;)

@steelersquirrel There were no kicks, punches and scratches, though.

@steelersquirrel lol

@NapoleonWilson Doctors that would do what the Human centipede Doctor would do? Oh, God.

@steelersquirrel I don't know.

6:01 PM
@NapoleonWilson Well, there hasn't been any of that since we were kids ;)

I see.

@steelersquirrel whoa that is cool!

@NapoleonWilson God dammit, Napoleon! Do you know anything? You roll up claiming that you have deranged Doctors in Germany but you don't know why they're deranged ;)

All I was saying is that it didn't surprise me that they gave the doctor from that movie a German background, is all. ;-)

@sanpaco I know, right? I was actually really excited about your question and was gathering information to answer it and I found that!
@NapoleonWilson Oh...okay. I must be missing something, but it's not the first time.

Q: Does the Machine remember already reported numbers?

Ha! I just earned a silver badge over on SE History...on the exact question that completely repelled me from that site ;)

Q: Why was the swordsman of Calais chosen as Anne Boleyn's executioner?

steelersquirrelAnne Boleyn was executed on May 19, 1536. Displaying an act of "mercy", King Henry VIII dispatched a skilled executioner to perform the execution by sword rather than by axe or being burned at the stake. The swordsman was dispatched from Calais, English occupied France at the time. Obviously,...

@Riker You could have done the hard work and looked it up yourself, like I did. ;-P

6:19 PM
@Riker Oh, God. I could only imagine...

they didn't read the license agreement completely
therefore they became the iHumanCentipede, courtesy of apple

Catija actually helped me with that question and it took me forever to do it.

I don't really see that much opposition to it in the comments, just a little discussion on improving it. But I admittedly don't know the history, maybe there are some deleted comments.

I'll watch just about anything and have watched Human Centipede, but there's a very small list of things I regret having watched and it is on that list.

@NapoleonWilson Because it had close votes on it because I requested sources. Then, I was also repelled by a comment that was made about how I shouldn't expect to find an answer to my question on that site...or something to that effect.

6:24 PM
Hmm, okay.

@steelersquirrel I actually just made my first history.se post like yesterday, because it was closed on literature lol

Q: Where does the phrase "behind the wind" come from?

Easterly IrkIn Millennium: A History of the Last Thousand Years, chapter 4 ("The World Behind the Wind"), the second-to-last sentence: On the evidence of the events of the fifteenth century, in the world east of the Bay of Bengal—the world "behind the wind", as Arab navigators called it—China could have ...

@Riker Did you request sources? If you did, it will probably be closed there as well ;)

lol
I actually originally requested a source, but not as a reference
no answer though :/

I have seriously never heard of anything more ridiculous. It's a frigging History site! How can you not request sources?

ye

6:28 PM
In the deleted comments, I was accused of doing research homework or something to that effect because I requested sources. It's just laughable.

ye

Oh, right! That's it! I was requesting sources other than Wikipedia! That's right!

Well, from the comments it seems it is a little more intricate than just that. We don't really know why this policy developed nor how it works exactly. It might admitredly seem a little strange, but it's a whole difference site altogether.

@Catija ben has really nice eyes
just a note

The point is that I re edited the god damn thing to fit what they wanted, which basically changed what I wanted to ask entirely and then after doing so, I get told that it's doubtful that my question could even be answered.
It's completely inconsistent matched with extreme nastiness by that community. It seems the majority of questions end up in a comment war, which has just led many users that I know from Sci-fi as well as myself just not participating there anymore.

6:35 PM
I've stopped participating in several other SE sites for similar reasons
Sometimes users on here get a little overly concerned about whether or not something is OT or not instead of just answering the question or providing guidance it turns into "your question is stupid and you're stupid for asking it"

That's why I get so upset when questions here get slammed with down votes and close votes within 2 seconds. I'm not talking about the obvious crap, but moderately okay questions that are just fine, but could maybe be edited. I don't know.

But sometimes users can also misunderstand a constructive discussion striving to improve a question. Not always are comment threads useless and I would refrain from getting repelled too easily from what is ultimately the normal purpose of SE comments. (That just as a general remark not necessarily related to the specific questions discussed here.)

@sanpaco Exactly! Thank you! You just said it perfectly!

Not every user takes constructive criticism too well and sometimes people can get offended by what is ultimately just a misunderstanding or an impartial tone they might not be used to from other forums. Misunderstandings are just all too common on the internet.

TIL the ninja edit rule still works if the comment on the question is your comment

6:42 PM
That is true too. There has to be a happy medium between being thick skinned and not taking things too personal but also helping provide constructive criticism rather than being a complete ass. I've been on all sides at some point, no one is perfect.

@NapoleonWilson It is always the way that it is said. A little common courtesy when leaving a comment goes a long way with people and since you can't judge the tone of another's voice on the internet, it's just best to be polite. A lot of people (myself included) don't like being spoken to like that and it easily gets misconstrued.

@sanpaco Agreed.
@steelersquirrel Agreed.

That's why I always loved @John's comments that he leaves and I be sure to tell him how much his politeness is appreciated :)

@sanpaco Even when I want to say "WTF? Are you kidding me right now?" I always welcome new users and then thank them for taking the time to post something and then make a constructive comment or ask a question about their post.

6:49 PM
@steelersquirrel Yeah I definitely am trying to work on being more patient with new users :P

> Aningaaq!

Well, I just know how I felt. I remember being reemed in the comments on one of my first few answers for not using quote blocks...which completely hurt my feelings and I spent so much time on it only to be told in that manner...which I didn't even know that I had to do.

Yeah...pretty sure that it was you now that I think about it. When you were that Tom Cody person. I keep forgetting that used to be you.

@steelersquirrel Yeah, I think so too. I just took a look. I guess I'm an asshole. :'(

6:58 PM
Of course...my idea of "reemed" is probably far different than yours...

@NapoleonWilson Yeah. I almost left because of that, just so you know.
Anyways, it's done and over now.
I gotta go. Have a good day everyone :)

I just added a tag , because I couldn't find another relevant tag. Or should I have used another term?
(Okay, technically I didn't add it, since my edit is still pending review).
But I can imagine more questions about the wages made by actors and other professionals.

8:05 PM
Hey, is there a place where I can access the source code for your HNQ feed?

8:55 PM
@steelersquirrel @NapoleonWilson @sanpaco Well spoken. Politeness is so easy to do. At times, helpfulness is almost free.

9:08 PM
@Gallifreyan I can just give it to you. It's just a few lines of Google Apps Script.
function doGet()
{
var feed = UrlFetchApp.fetch('http://stackexchange.com/feeds').getContentText();
var document = XmlService.parse(feed);
var root = document.getRootElement();
var atom = XmlService.getNamespace('http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom');
var entries = document.getRootElement().getChildren('entry', atom);
for (var i = 0; i < entries.length; i++)
{
var id = entries[i].getChildText('id', atom);
if(id.substr(0, 14) != 'http://movies.')
entries[i].detach();
}
feed = XmlService.getCompactFormat().setLineSeparator('\n').setEncoding('UTF-8').setIndent(' ').format(document);

That's all. Make that a Google Apps Script and publish it as a webapp. Then make a chatbot with the app's adress as feed source.
All it does is listen for the SE HNQ feed, filter out everything that's not a specific site and publish that as a new RSS feed.
However, note that it only works for the top 30 HNQs. To change that, make your vote here:

Q: Make the Stack Exchange Hot Questions feed include all HNQs

Christian RauI noticed that the Stack Exchange Hot Questions feed only comprises the 30 topmost HNQs rather than all 100. I wonder why that is and if there is a good reason for it, when the complete list isn't unhealthily large either with just 100 instead of 30. I would thus hereby propose to extend the fee...

@steelersquirrel I can hardly contain my surprise on that. It's almost as if someone is down voting every single question or answer I post immediately.

@Passerby Odd...I've had some odd down votes too. Fortunately some kind soul has been going through some of my Sherlock answers and upvoting. Hope that doesn't get reversed. :)
