@JoelHarmon on. freaking. edge.

@Shalvenay re: election?

@Adeptus yes

5:02 AM
@daze413 on edge, hardcore -- even more so than I'd normally be in a super-tight presidential race, being represented by one of the two free electors, if you will (i.e. one of the ones that go by congressional district, not state)

5:19 AM
@Shalvenay ah, politics... I still remember being butthurt when our candidate lost in our country's elections. Legend says, we are still butthurt to this day. I've let go and accepted my fate.

We're doing okay with keeping the conversation nice, but let's keep it over here, eh?

Oh so this is what this chat is for.
Sorry

Mostly it's for stuff that's fine to talk about in main chat but would edge out a more on-topic conversation.
But sometimes it's also for stuff that not everybody wants to have inflicted on them.
The be nice policy still applies though and I will burn trash-talk.
This election is hard for people to talk about nicely, but I have confidence in this chat to do its best.

@BESW Yes. I am carefully saying not much. And I don't even live there.

Same.
I would, however, like to share this prayer for America, revealed in 1912 in Chicago by 'Abdu'l-Bahá.

5:31 AM
@BESW Well, you sort of live there :P

@BESW isn't everything politics :/ I login at facebook and everyone's trashtalking politics (ours, not America's). It's sad. I really just login to facebook just to check on my DND group these days

There's an argument to be made that every choice we make is political in the broad sense that all our decisions are made in the context of reacting to and having an influence on society.
And within that argument, every choice we make should be approached thoughtfully and with intent.
But that's a world apart from the divisive false dichotomies of partisan party politics.

Apropos of nothing, a song.

6:00 AM
Just wanted to pop in and say hi since I can't sleep thanks to election results

@SirTechSpec Not being able to sleep sucks :(

I kind of wish they just handled it like foxy boxing instead of with votes. That might lead to certain problems only fancy pants "lawyers" understand, though.

@Miniman Not as much as the country's going to suck next year unless there's an upset in the next few minutes

We're keeping election chat in the Not A Bar, and remember to keep it squeaky-clean on the be nice policy.
@Fibericon I once designed a half-orc empire where legal disputes were handled via ritualised combat; Kord would ensure the righteous was the victor.
...Half-orc lawyers were the guys you got to fight on your behalf.

Beautiful. I'm reminded of the Star Trek Klingon courts. Someone was being charged with ruining a noble house with shady financial methods instead of just killing them all like a true warrior would.

@BESW That is an excellent policy that I'm afraid I might have trouble following this evening. I have... concerns. Not for myself so much but for friends who might be directly impacted by certain federal policies, some of which can be set or altered by the executive branch.
@Fibericon ah, the House of Quark

@SirTechSpec Thank you!

On a more neutral note: fascinating how what seemed like a sure thing a week ago now looks like it won't materialize. This election has been a roller coaster ride from start to finish for sure.
But yeah despite everything I do feel myself getting sleepy so I think I'm going to try to capitalize on that, in case there's a chance I'm still up to going to work tomorrow :)
I will leave you with one of my favorite lines from Hogfather, since I see that came up a bit ago: "You want us to arrest the Hogfather... on Hogswatch... For giving away presents... in your shop... in front of all these people?"
Night all, and may we continue to build communities wherever we go :)

@SirTechSpec Cya! Hope you get some sleep!

Yeah, I'm also very concerned about many things which it's not appropriate to delve into in an RPG Stack Exchange chat room. I empathize with the struggle.

the great thing about @infinite_scream is that the world is terrible so every time it tweets it will appear to be reacting to your timeline

I would feel a little better if everyone at work wasn't literally talking about it at this very moment :/
