@enegue That's great! -- By the way, do you have the EPV publicly available somewhere (e.g. on a website) for reading? ☺
1 hour later…
enegue
5:24 AM
@Paul Vargas At the moment it is a tool for my own use.
However, the pastor at my church is going to Africa next year to help a group of people who are translating the scriptures into native languages.
When he saw what I was doing, he asked me to go with him to show them how it might help with their work.
So, I am now on a time-line to transform it into a tool that could be used by others.
I have got a couple of passages on-line for reading.
Paul Vargas
@enegue
into native languages
: That's amazing!
enegue
Yeah. My contribution will just be to show them the tool.
I have no credentials in regard to Greek or Hebrew, but I have spent much time working with the various texts of scripture.
Paul Vargas
@enegue I guess is a desktop application.
enegue
No. It is a web app.
Paul Vargas
@enegue What text you are using for the Old Testament?
enegue
5:38 AM
Here's a link to a passage I was looking at from [1 Samuel] (
users.tpg.com.au/eugenehart/epv/#!1%20Samuel%2013:7-14
)
The reading app is standalone and not connected to the database back-end.
Paul Vargas
@enegue Thanks! I'll take a look.
enegue
WLC is text I've been working from
Paul Vargas
@enegue Ah! You are from Australia because the
.au
. :-)
enegue
Yes
Paul Vargas
I'm from Mexico.
enegue
5:46 AM
Vargas definitely has a Spanish ring to it
My last eye exam was done by a fellow by the name of "Julio Fuentes"
Paul Vargas
@enegue
Yep.
-- And for the New Testament? I remember one of your answers in one question of the book of John.
enegue
WH
Paul Vargas
(That was the first time when I saw the EPV in a screenshot.)
enegue
My very first attempt at doing something of this nature was using LibreOffice Calc
Paul Vargas
@enegue What timezone is there?
enegue
5:57 AM
Sydney Australia
Paul Vargas
@enegue Ubuntu or Arch Linux or Fedora?
enegue
Linux Mint
I think it sprang from Ubuntu
Paul Vargas
By the way, I'm with a Android device. Some kind of Linux.
enegue
So, you are using your phone at the moment.
Paul Vargas
@enegue My computer has Win10 and Ubuntu Gnome.
@enegue A
tablet
.
enegue
6:03 AM
The reader won't look good on a phone. It's only in alpha form.
Oh, okay.
It might squeeze onto your screen ;)
Just looked at it on my phone for the first time. Too small in portrait. Has no scrollbars in landscape.
Paul Vargas
enegue
That doesn't look too bad
It's readable at least.
Paul Vargas
@enegue ^^^ That's what I see on my
tablet
.
@enegue Do you have Acts 19?
enegue
@Paul Vargas Not yet. Which passage in particular?
Paul Vargas
@enegue Acts 19:32-39. I was seeing the word έκκλησία.
enegue
6:16 AM
@Paul Vargas Okay. I think I saw some mention of it. Whether it was church or synagogue, etc
Paul Vargas
@enegue Right.
enegue
@Paul Vargas I'll have a look at the passage tonight and see what the text tells me. I don't think it's something that I could determine from the text. But, if nothing else, I can perhaps give another perspective on it.
Time here is 5:21 pm.
Paul Vargas
@enegue OK.
Here is sleeping time.
(A little late.)
enegue
@Paul Vargas LOL.
I'll let you go. Thanks for the chat.
