Q: Does 12 amu really equal the mass of one carbon-12 atom?

As I was studying chemistry, I encountered atomic mass units and based on some calculations, I realized that numbers don't work out: $$\text{12 amu= mass of a single carbon-12}$$ $$\text{atom = mass of 6p + 6n}$$ which cannot be true because we know the mass of protons and neutrons is a tad mor...
