@TheNumberOne ooh thanks.

19 hours later…
7:50 PM
Back from my math competition!

8:19 PM
@HelkaHomba Can I get your opinion on the Nether hub progress? What're some things you'd like to see done to the outside?

1 hour later…
9:33 PM
@ANerd-I It looks really good! The exterior looks fine how it is imo, add lighting maybe? I would only really request a way to get up to the roof (spiral staircase in a turret?).
You can take any of my netherrack/nether brick btw, looks like a lot will be needed

10:10 PM
Is there any instance of a non-90 degree angle in vanilla Minecraft in a single movable "thing"?
(and don't get smart and say 180 or 270 or -90 or 0)

Cats.
Cats' tails are curved funny.
Wolves also when sitting down.

Oh? I mean that their legs and bodies etc count as different things.
e.g. player arms move and make non-90 angles with their body but the arm itself is just a box

I'd presume the tail counts as one thing.

I suppose. I don't think the tail sections move
though it does look like 45 deg :P

That looks like an obtuse angle to me.

10:15 PM
135, w/e

Maybe 115 degrees or something.
@HelkaHomba Oh, maybe

Hmm, you may be right

I think the Wither's body is curved in a similar matter as well.

so it is
The cat's outer tail section does move, but the inner one is attached to the body
Better question: Do any shapes/textures require a triangle?

10:35 PM
I googled images of wireframes in Minecraft, and it looks like everything is square/rectangular. Probably worth noting that Minecraft is based on voxels, not surfaces like most games.

That said, I did find this (which the OP says they triangulated):
Pretty much all of the triangles can be combined into rectangles, except the ones at the very tip.

You mean if they can't overlap?

It's usually (very) bad to have overlapping faces.

Even then, why can't every little square be its own shape?

10:38 PM
If they're coplanar and intersecting, then you get z-fighting which is a really ugly visual artifact.
@HelkaHomba They can be, but aren't necessarily so.

Right, but a triangle is not required

I even looked at torches, but even there, all the particles are square and the torch flame itself is composed of rectangular pieces. It's also a sprite, not a 3D object.

Thankfully Notch had triangaphobia

Sloped water or lava is trapezoidal or triangular in shape.

ahh, true
@TheNumberOne You win a cookei

10:48 PM
anyone wanna get on? :P

This is cute (original):

btw @HelkaHomba How did you screen record that video?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ with bandicam

@HelkaHomba yay!
gtg

10:51 PM
bai

11:22 PM
@HelkaHomba Lighting certainly is on the agenda after I finish the walls.
