@MartinBüttner I've started work on the language, and I'm currently pondering whether I should do this or not. On the one hand, it's intuitive to have divmod and some other operations do this, but on the other hand, it makes J-style adverbs and conjunctions harder to design.

I guess it depends on what your design goals are

Well, I'm not explicitly trying to make a golfing language.
It's just a project where I can throw in my random ideas, but I'd like it to be "clean" and internally consistent.

That sounds good to me :)
I just figured having something with several outputs would be useful, e.g. to swap two values (maybe with \ as a mirror)

@MartinBüttner I already have \ as a mirror (syntax element, not a function). And I'll probably have duplicators as syntax elements too, because of the way conjunctions currently work.

Is there a link where I can read up on what you’re talking about? :)

Q: Parse a two-dimensional syntax

ZgarbBackground Alice and Bob are creating a golfing language to win every single PPCG challenge. Alice wants to make a two-dimensional language, like ><>, but Bob prefers a prefix-infix syntax like in J. As a compromise, they decide to create a two-dimensional prefix-infix language. The parser is a ...

I'm making a language based on that.
Nothing is published yet.

Interesting

Basically, it's a 2D version of J.

@Zgarb JELLY><>?

Yes, Jelly><> is happening.
I may change the name tough, as cool as it is. :P

And it won't be a pure golfing language, more like a testing ground for all my crazy ideas.

@Zgarb well, I guess if it's going to be based on J, I can't provide too much input.
