Bob
9:05 PM
@allquixotic I have rebooted several times.
Had some stuttering at the very beginning, but it's been fine since.
Actually, it might've been fine after the first reboot :P
@HackToHell why not 4GB? :P
I considered that one before deciding on the G4.
That's ridiculous.
1% in 7h o.O
Not sure if it's really good at standby or just poorly calibrated measurements...

@Bob I should send you a spare pair of apt-X cans... not like I'm short on them or anything

Bob
@allquixotic But you had the same issue with SBC.
Actually, the cheaper way to test might be to get you an x100.

heh

Bob
They're something like $20 :P
It also might just be me missing it.
But I don't think so... I did notice some stuttering at the very beginning.

you'd have to be nearly deaf or listening at such low gain that you can barely hear it, in order to miss it

9:16 PM
Anyone having issues accessing Source Forge? I'm getting 503 errors from their Caching server

Bob
@allquixotic Oh, definitely no gunshots.

if you're listening to music that's constantly got some musical audio (an instrument and/or voice) playing on any given sample, without long silent pauses where the dropout could sneak in, it's very jarring to hear it

Bob
I do wonder if the 808 (instead of 810) might be making the difference.

what is the 808 doing better that the S4 Pro, 800, 801 and 810 aren't?

Bob
Also, battery usage while playing music with screen off is a bit high so maybe it's not downclocking as aggressively... though I'm not sure about that.
@allquixotic Probably nothing :P
808 is more similar to 810 than any of those.
Hm. What's the cheapest aptX (or other) headphone that definitely exhibits this issue?

9:19 PM
the Mee Matrix2, that I'm aware of
the cheapest would be for me to send it to you
to keep

Bob
...nah

they're strictly worse than my Sammy Level Ons, anyway - they don't have noise cancellation

Bob
Hm. You always went for the more expensive headphones, right? :P
And here I am with this

well my foray into Meleectronics wasn't anything to do with expensive - those are decidedly mid-grade

Bob
I don't usually do BT

9:21 PM
I think for the Meelec Air-Fi Matrix "1" I paid less than $100
that's not high-end

Bob
Matrix2 is coming up as 90USD

yeah the 2s are a little more expensive
it's not the headphones, though -- or, if it is something about the headphones, it's cross-manufacturer (Samsung, Meelec and Sennheiser) and across price ranges (mid-grade, upscale, and extreme high-end)
but the exact same headphones work 100% flawlessly on the iPhone
everything - everything points to Android itself as the fault
not a SoC, not a manufacturer, not even a specific codec

Bob
Hm. It's been five months since the last big Meelec sale targeting AU
@allquixotic Except the fact that it seems to work here.

either that, or the BT spec is so horrible that you can't make both iPhone and Android happy simultaneously because they differ on an incompatible "customizable" part of the spec ("The implementer MAY ..."), and the manufacturers have to pick whether they want it to run better on iOS or Android
in which case I'd expect to buy "Android-friendly" cans and have them suck on iOS
but the Samsung Level Ons designed specifically for Samsung Galaxy phones fail on the Note 4, so yeah
and work flawlessly on iOS
could it be that BT is somehow different in Australia? different bands? regulatory?
are you sure you're using the exact same spectrum bands as the US?

@CanadianLuke Probably your adblocker denying their attempts to push spyware onto you.

Bob
9:27 PM
@allquixotic Nup? :P

Damnit... Lol

Bob
> Bluetooth operates at frequencies between 2400 and 2483.5 MHz (including guard bands 2 MHz wide at the bottom end and 3.5 MHz wide at the top). This is in the globally unlicensed (but not unregulated) Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) 2.4 GHz short-range radio frequency band.

well you're in ITU Region 3 and I'm in ITU Region 2, so I'm not sure if that makes any difference

@CanadianLuke I don't actually know. shrug

Bob
@allquixotic This is actually a Taiwanese variant, though, so that might also affect it.
I couldn't get AU 5GHz wifi bands (36-52) that Taiwan didn't have to work until I put the SIM cart in (apparently that sets the wifi country code)
...come to think of it, the stuttering might've stopped specifically after that
Can't remember

10:23 PM
welp, Moonlight for iOS works perfectly over WiFi or USB... it's awesome.... playing high-end games on a phone, rendered on a GTX 980

@allquixotic Cool! What's the minimum card required?

building it in XCode was as easy as building a Visual Studio solution
@MichaelFrank 600 series, I think.

due to improved video encoding perf in Maxwell, though, it's definitely one of those things that "works best with the GTX 900 series"

I really need to upgrade the 560Ti then.

10:27 PM
for a modern AAA title I'd say a GTX 970 is the baseline for being able to have a good experience with GameStream
the game already taxes that GPU a fair bit, then add on video encoding and you're more or less maxing it out

Bob
Heh, still 560 here
Kinda want nvenc for shadowplay
Exceeds...what?

@Bob If you have more storage space available on your phone than you have messages, Messaging will refuse to work, because it requires that you have 0 bytes free space in order to .... I DON'T KNOW, PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND ENGLISH, GIVE THEM A BREAK
:P

anyone know if I can download the Windows 10 .iso from Linux?

@xCare From the internet?

yes

10:34 PM
Sure, why couldn't you?

Oh... that downloads the Tool. So no, not from there.

well, I tried last night and it didn't work for some reason. It downloaded but didn't finish

Bob
@allquixotic phone gets quite warm :/

the tool?
thought it says .iso..

Bob
10:35 PM
Did you experience that work the Note?
So much for 808 running cooler

@xCare Ahh.. okay. I see the Downloader Tool there. It should work, maybe just weird network conditions?

@Bob IIRC, the Note 4 is warm to the touch if the screen's on for any extended period of time and it's not freezing cold outside
that was my experience

wait, does it download the .iso or a tool which then downloads the .iso?
because it'd be odd that it takes 3 hrs to download a download tool

Bob
Yea, pretty warm after 30 mins screen on

@xCare I see a Tool download site because I'm on Windows. If you are running Linux, it might show you an .ISO link instead.

10:37 PM
and when I select download x64, it says it's downloading a .iso
I'm on Ubuntu

Bob
At least the LCD screen uses less power than AMOLED

so it should work to download and install even if I'm not on Windows

@xCare Yes.

10:58 PM
@xCare Yes
In fact, if you go in from linux it offers you an ISO. If you do it from windows you get the tool
however, you need to do the whole download in a single session
What language?

@JourneymanGeek I said that! :P

I can confirm that
in faaaaact
if you need the english language ISO....

@JourneymanGeek yes English
I'm trying to see if I can squeeze that into a USB and run HD recovery apps with it, since I can't run my other HD with working Windows and the corrupted HDD at the same time
the thing is it won't read the partition even though it detects the drive, so I need to reconstruct both Partitions and MBR

11:24 PM
@MichaelFrank This is the philosophy behind every answer I write. I don't post an answer unless I can actually answer the question definitively.

@xCare test.lupinenet.com/Win10_English_x64.iso
grab it from that URL
(its my server)

what's the size?

let me know once you've started so I can delete the link
3.8gb

started it

amusingly, that's running on a python web server, proxied by lighttpd

11:32 PM
not bad

@DragonLord Which really sucks when you know the answer, but you don't have the time to write it all down. :P
I were on an EVA at the ISS, could I throw something at earth and expect it to land? Assuming it doesn't burn up on re-entry?

11:54 PM
yes if you accounted for atmospheric friction and pressures of landing

I have just been restarted! This happens daily automatically, or when my owner restarts me. Ready for commands.
