Benny J. FrankyI don't remember which TV show it was. It's probably iZombie or Forever. One of the earlier episodes (episode 1 through 5 is my best guess) There's a conversation between the main character (either Liv or Henry Morgan) and his/her sidekick (or maybe someone else?) in the lab where they work on t...

@Catija Sure, the connection between Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace is definitely a hard narrative one. But Skyfall is quite a bit more self-contained. But anyway, JohnSmithOptional's great answer nailed it and I'm very glad he found the words I probably couldn't have found and snatched the accepted answer. Another example of a great "acceptance stealing".

@MovieReel Oh my. I really tried to repair this question a little. I think it definitely is a valid and reasonable question and answerable quite well, as his already suggested in his comment. But that awfully off-center pseudo-moralist attitude make it a too easy "primarily opinion-based"-target and I hope people think about it before close-voting too fast.

1:03 PM
But really, if you're fine with people abusing the financial system without any kind of ethics or morale but can't stand a single friggin' "fuck" or the slightests hint of naked skin, then your moral compass is honestly pretty flawed to its very core.

1:14 PM
There should be atleast a better example then this for unnecessary nudity.

1:45 PM
And I knew people were gonna downvote the crap outta this question. But well, once the first close-vote comes I'll be ready to smash a "Leave Open" right into their faces. ;-P

@NapoleonWilson I don't know that it's appropriate to call someone's moral compass "flawed" just because it's thinks unnecessary cursing and nudity is wrong. Restrictive compared to the general western morals, maybe? But, as far as I'm concerned, as long as someone's moral compass isn't telling them that murder is OK and other really bad stuff is acceptable... honestly, by his standards we're the ones with flawed moral compasses.

2:34 PM
@Catija It's flawed when he thinks it's wrong compared to the other financial and ethical deeds depicted in the movie (as his' comment points out well).
@Catija Of course we are.
Anyway, the question itself is actually good.

I'm not saying it's bad, I think it's kind of judgmental to imply that his morals are bad.

Q: Horror movie about people trapped in a chateau/castle and one got hung in fireplace

KlaxI watched that movie like more than 25 years ago: There are a bunch of people trapped in a house/castle. They got killed one by one. One of them dies because someone/something ties her and hang in the fireplace. Others didn't know she was there and burns to fireplace to get warm. What's the name ...

I guess I can't really complain about ID... I've gotten a ton of upvotes for that Stranger than Fiction question.

@Catija Meh, be it so. I simply found his judgment off-center and hypocritical. That's all, maybe I didn't express that too well when calling his "moral compass flawed".

How is it hypocritical? Is he making films with nudity but complaining about someone else's?

2:41 PM
@Catija Yeah, HNQ. Not that the answer didn't deserve those upvote, the question on the other hand...

In Indian film, they don't even show people kissing on screen... it's just a cultural thing. It's not hypocritical or hyper-sensitive. It's culture.

@Catija Because he didn't seem to have a problem with all the other foul acts commited in the movie. But a bare breast and people "fucking" is a huge unneccessity.
@Catija Meh, be it so.

Should he be more open to that stuff when he's watching an American film? Probably...

I'm not gonna take it back anyway. he has my upvote and I tried my best in saving the question. I'm not going to have deeper political/cultural discussion about the necessity of nudity now, though. Maybe I shouldn't have said "hypocritical" or not. Just happened.
Once I'm home I'll try to write an answer to it anyway, since I remember that Wolfgang Schmitt made a very interesting analysis of the movie in regard to the relation of sex and ejaculation to the financial business.

3:02 PM
@Catija And it wasn't so much that he was repelled by it, of course you don't have to like or enjoy those parts, as more the fact that he found it "degrades" the movie and was "unecessary" that made me question his attitude.
But sure, a cultural thing I guess. In the same way as people from other cultures might overreact on nudity, I as a German might in turn overreact when people overreact on nudity.

Gratuitous nudity is degrading... I'm sorry, but there are a lot of directors who want to put nudity in films because they want eye-candy, so they treat (particularly women) like objects rather than people. I'm not arguing that WoWS is degrading... I've not actually seen it... but it happens constantly in Hollywood, so I'd argue it's probably a better question than you even seem to think it is.
Anyway, do you know how the close voting works? It shows that it has two close votes but it doesn't appear in my review queue.

Hmm, I honestly don't even remember so much nudity at all in this movie. Not that it lacked in sex and uses of the F-word in general. But actual nudity? But ok, I've seen it quite some time ago.
@Catija It vanishes from the review queue once a sufficient amount of people (3, I think) have selected "Leave Open". This is so that 1-vote things which aren't to be closed don't linger in there some 2 weeks, I guess.
And since a moderator voted for "Leave Open" already, I guess that is sufficient to remove it from the queue (in the same way as a single moderator vote is sufficient for suggested edits).
Aaand it's back to positive, I hope that edit really did its job.

@NapoleonWilson I think there's another issue and I wonder if it's related to the visited tabs issue... visited badges are barely readable because the font color blends into the background of the badge.

@Catija I think it's the same thing, that's the same dark cyan link font color. You can try it out, by visiting the link (clicking the badge) and seeing it changes color.
Yeah, just tried it, probably the same thing. Whoa, this seriously needs to get fixed. Hopefully on the main meta people will actuall notice it. (I'm already thinking about moving that graduation swag rant over there, too, after a little unmoviefication of the wording, though.)

Is the Meta really the only way to get in touch with the designers? Could you post a reply to the design page from graduation to get his attention?

@Catija I don't know, afterall it's a new bug. But then again, SE staff is actually supposed to read our meta to some degree, I thought. But if they don't get it on the main meta either (as was the case with the Community Promotion Ads) I could as well call them out in the moderator chat room. But I'd consider this the last line of defence (or offense, that is).

@NapoleonWilson Apparently he dropped by on May 13th... maybe he just checks in occasionally?

I even fear answering that friggin Wolf of Wall Street question, people will just accuse me of having a "vested interest". Afterall I indeed seem to be the only one giving a damn about that thing.

7:21 PM
You're saying that to me after our conversation earlier? Meh.

@Catija If you want to show your appreciation to that question, you can as well upvote some of my comments, so it doesn't look like the anti-subjective people have all the world on their side. ;-)
@Catija And I didn't say it to you, I said it to chat.

Ah. OK.
Honestly, I haven't been following the commentary much.

But this was just a little not entirely serious side note of course. It's of course you who decide what you upvote and why.

Of course. I'm not going to blanket upvote something... I'm not a puppet. You make good points and bad points.

That being said, your recent chat ramblings about gratuitous nudity and stuff might also give this question a bit more backing and relevance, I think.

7:25 PM
True.

@Catija Of course I do, and I'm probably already getting way too agressive in those comments, but I really try to control myself in face of the "analysis is too subjective, we need more trivia/ID" crowd.

But, by the same token, they could backfire... someone could take them to mean that the question is too broad if it's talking about general nudity in film.

@Catija Which it doesn't, this was the first thing I changed right after it was asked.
